Mylot good for Minors?

Hello lotters..
I'd wish i can share this site with my niece and nephews so that not only they learn to type but also have ideas of their own to start their topic piece. unfortunately, there's a lot of adult content here so i think i need them to wait to grow up.
I heard some mylotters here are not within the legal least age. but they were still welcome, i don't mind that. we actually envy them because even at their school days they get to mylot. learning how to type fast and conversations that would let them learn from the veterans experiences in life.
Well, it's a good place for them instead of playing online games, or using social networks that doesn't pay...
What do you think?

On the one hand, I think a 'Junior Mylot' would be a very good idea - a mylot only for kids. But on the other hand, I think that would be abused too much and the kids would be put at risk. So overall, it's best not to have such a thing.
As for the present mylot, I think it's OK as it is. I don't think it is suitable for children and I wouldn't want them here. As you say, they are probably here already, although perhaps it's just adults with childish minds!

Hello petersum,
they can tell their frustrations about their parents, teachers and all that stuff. not to mention they can try to have their own crushes and puppy loves in their discussions.
HAHAHAHA- i laughed at you're last sentences. but it's also sad at the same time, the more we grow up the more immature we sometimes be.

dear LK,
Then why not asks admin to have another site like
MYLOTJUNIOR
Where minors and kids can have their own sets of topics and discussion eh.
I bet it will be full of online games and kids stuffs...
Ohh..i always hear my kids saying this
"what a fluffy unicorn i'm gonna die"
that's a ling of Agnes from Despicable Me movie.
See...they also have something to talked with...movies/what's next cartoon movies..what's the latest online games...what's new in facebook and asks their friends to water their plants in farmville.
what more?

that's a good idea my friend, but if the idea is to join here minors are another things to guide here - why? Because even older here unable to catch the right rules here - even in a simple search for duplicate discussion, you know what I mean?

I don't think kids are suitable to participate in mylot too, besides the adult contents, there are also some topics that might not be suitable for kids. I think MyLot Juniors is a good idea, there should be some forums specially for kids only, and as LK said, the kids can learn to express their ideas, learn from the discussions, and also socialize with others online. Also, they got some ideas of earning money.
But, I still prefer my kids to go for more physical activities and games, interact with others personally instead of spending too much time online.

Hello kaka135,
I agree with you, there are adult contents here and shouldn't be able to see the ones that are for mature people only. well, you're right also about that suggestion. my young relatives are addicted to facebook and watching tv that they tend to get tired after an exercise. i guess the body should be focus on to get fit.

Nope even if our motive is to learn something but not yet applicable or not yet accepted because of age - I don't think its ok. The legal age here and I think globally is atleast 18 years of age (it seems that not obey by other sites especially social networking).
There are many ways to motivate minors to learn about computer, online or other without against any law in the area - better clean our conscience than the other side...

Hello visavis,
At least i just thought about it though, you're right i suppose. younger than that most youth could use it as a form of abuse against the site which could lead it to shutdown. you're right about this. well, there are people here that are minor, i don't know how can anyone assest to that. anyways, thanks

You can actually change some setting in your profile or preference I forgot. There should be an option under account information, allowing you to choose whether to view mature content or not.
I think it is a good place for teenagers to learn how to interact with others. There are many mylotters who start interesting, meaningful and educating topics which can initiate many useful responses. It can be beneficial to teenagers if they can think and do reflection on certain topics. And it would be great if adults can guide them during the process.

Hello Chopchop,
Well, yeah i think some have already done that. in my three years stay here, there are at least five minors that i have encountered. some are same equal maturity as we have. as long as mylotters start interesting, funny and quality type of discussions in this site, we won't have any kind of trouble if mylotters were more good and equal with each other.

I agree, for me it is one of the good place to hang out when you are not doing anything rather than playing games that can hang my lappie. About the topic, it is not good for minors. I believe the site is strictly for 18 years old and above. There are lots of adult contents in here, and it is not firewalled. They can read all the adult contents and that will give them idea about it. Mylot will not be a good place anymore if it will bring them and teach them things like that. However, I wish students just focus on their study instead of Mylotting. Mylotting is addicting, maybe one day they passing their time on Mylotting rather than doing their assignments, not a good idea.

Hello grecy,
yeah, but probably to the nerd ones or those who are actually not into games, girls or boys or other kinds of wasteful acitivies that children do these days. you're right if teenagers would be active here, we will have problems and we would spend time reporting bad discussions. well, they can make a discussion about asking for help

jo letran i think mylot would be good for minmors that are 16 or older
as they as you said would learn typing speed and learn from the esperience of others. Learning and making frriends and getting paid]for it I think it would be great. they would find others their age on here ''and could have a ball.also the meeting of young people f rom all over the world would teach them so much.

Hello Hatley,
After my first six months of being here in mylot, that's what i learned how to type my messages and post in this site. the benefit of typing fast has helped a lot of people specially with my moms friend who wanted to do some typing work in our PC. too bad though we have a different OS now.
Have a nice day

I would definitely wait until they are teenagers. Some teenagers have problems that they are too scared to talk to their parents about. If they come here on mylot and actually discuss this problem with other mylotters then we would be respectful of the age and try to help them through the problem as much as possible.

I do not believe that mylot has to stop paying I believe mylot should not have to change a thing. I think that these teenagers need to present themselves maturely on here and we can help them be their parents away from parents. You know when they need advice and they are definitely not going to go to there parents about it!

Hello Amanda,
That is so right about that, probably mylot won't be paying anymore if that happens. nor mylot will change it's features again. it's really nice to have the younger generation familiarizing themselves to the online earning and stop the use of online games and others that is only wasting their internet time

I think I was 17 when I joined. I don't think it's really helped me learn to type better (high school and attempting NaNoWriMo did that) but it's been super fun. I don't think it's a good site for minors though cause there's lots of adult conversations going on. However, there are loads of family-friendly discussions on every topic imaginable. I think 16-17 would be about the right age. I think the age requirement to join mylot is 16... but I know Paypal has an age requirement of 18, so they'd probably have to wait awhile before they could really see their earnings.

If we got more members of any kind then there'd likely be loads of trolls coming... I don't think it would fall just to the kids. I think most teenagers would "understand" adult discussions, but I don't think it's all well and good for them to be partaking in them anyway. lol

Hello Allyoftherain,
I agree with you there, i have seen more adult content and mature discussions here that kids and teenagers will never understand. though some of them are family friend, i doubt they can be good when it comes to helping out youngster be more responsible, am sure more trolls would be coming to this site if kids started participating.

Hello umabhati,
I am not even sure if i can secure a few people or kids here knowing there's a lot of discussions that are being made every single day. too bad though, we may never know and fact is that children are just not into serious talks with older or mature people but prefers to play around much a bit

yes , let the children grow up to the certain age so that they themselves know what is good and bad., as elders if we say no for somethings they have the interest to know that only.So unless they fall sometimes they will not learn .

It can be a good place for teenagers though I feel that some of the discussions may not be suitable here for them. Perhaps if there was a section specifically for them, then maybe it would be a good thing for others to join.
I see in your comment that they are not interested, therefore, maybe in a few more years they will be.

Hello hardworkinggurl,
Well, teenagers are allowed, only those who are maxmimum of 18 years old. my elder brothers and their wifes aren't interested, what more if it's the kids who's gonna screw it up in the end. i hope they do grow up to be future mylotters. it's nice to see the next generation posting topics here and there

I think it's better for minors to be here in mylot rather than doing facebook and wasting their time. It's just a comparison. It's still better for minors to be off the computer. It's quite addicting. Obviously. I won't really recommend to have other people I know to sign up here in mylot. First of all, they might get addicted with it. MIGHT. Just for emphasis. Hahaha! And also, instead of doing some other more important things they would rather do mylot instead. Anyways, what I'm saying is... it's a good thing you still didn't introduce mylot to your nieces and nephews. Another reason also is for the mature content. That's a good reasoning of yours.
Have a nice day!

Hello tecchigurl,
Yeah, waste of time if they stick around there posting pictures and crap playing online games that they use money for nothing, most specially if they are in Internet shops.nope, but i did introduce it to my brothers, which until now they are not joining. but i guess it's a good thing to be here, and they're not

I don't think you are right. From what I remember, the terms say you should have a certain age to be able to register as a Mylot user.
Here's what they say:
" (d) you are sixteen (16) years of age or older. Your myLot account may be deleted and your membership may be terminated without warning, if we believe that you have violated any of the Terms of Use Agreement."

Hello Octav,
I SAID "I NEED TO WAIT FOR THEM TO GROW UP", I didn't say they should join mylot right away. i know the terms and i have read. it's not here's what they say but it's what it is written in the terms and use of agreement. probably you should have read it a bit further. fortunately, i am at a certain, too bad though it's beyond 16

I think this would be a good place for them if they have some kind of supervision. There are alot of adult topics here that children do not need to see.

I think myLot could be a good influence on anyone--you get to see that people in other countries are just like yourself and have the same troubles and triumphs. If we knew everyone as friends we might not let our governments make war on those friends' countries or claim falsehoods.
There is some adult content and there's no way to keep the minors away unless they check the box to avoid that content--which you know they won't. It's too bad that people feel the need to discuss such things in public, I don't feel it has a place in everyday conversation and should be confined to people you know and trust in the real world. Everything you put on the internet is there forever and I'm sure some of those who are discussing adult things will, at some point, regret some of the things they've published. I sometimes wish everything could be G-rated.

Hello dragon,
Well, I make sure that what i put here doesn't compromise the safety of my family. and besides, mylot does not entertain personal information or any kind. last time i put an address and phone number of our traffic agency and they deleted that discussion. i believe that this site can become a lot more popular in the future.

Maybe there should be a nice site such as this one for kids. But you cannot expect children to have the same interests than grownups or even read some of the things that are discussed.
I have directed many literary workshops in my country and would never mix children with grown ups. I did not particulary liked to have teens in workshops with older people.

Hello marguicha,
I agree also with you here, the interest would fall into cartoons, anime, tv series, music for teens, probably like justin beiber or something. that's true they have vast limited knowledge for some reason. thank you for you're time. have anice day

hi,
for me i think there's no problem when a minor will participate here,as long as they can relate their self to the topic here in mylot,so instead of playing online games its better tom participate here to earn extra money,we actually dont know if there are minors here but they declared there age as 18 above.

Mylot needs more teens so the anime, videogames and pop culture section of this place will be alive. since most adults are more interested with politics, religion, relationships and families. they can add variety to the topics plus talking to young people will make us feel younger.
