Hi everyone I just wanted to ask that what do you do when there is no interesting discussion to respond to, when you come on mylot for the first time in the day and you dont find anything interesting. Do you just Go back and come the next day, or you still respond to few, if you are not still interested in them !!

I have friends who have profiles filled with interesting discussions and I go and poke about there.
There are also tabs above this discussion 'reent', 'hot' and 'top' and there are even more there.
If I still can't find anything, well, I ask myself if there is something wrong with me!
At the bottom of the page there are more links to which take us to the news and to the blogs and we can comment there.
There is really never a dull day on myLot!

Yes we earn for responding on the news and blogs too.
To be able to view mature content you should got to your 'preferences' at the top of the page and then to 'account information'.
I will give you the link so that you can get there sooner:
http://www.mylot.com/nr/editprofile.aspx
Go to the bottom and tick the box 'view mature content' and then 'update' and you will be able to view it too.

Thanks a lot mydianait I have been looking all over the page a couple of days back and I had been searching that box for over half an hour but still was not able make out how to change my preferences to mature nature I was not expecting such a small box and it was in front of the change password blank so my eyes did not go there, Thanks to you I finally got to know where it was hiding.

I do have lots of myLot listed friends so I do get a variety of discussions to pick and choose from. If ever I am not finding anything really interesting, I can tell you to go to the no responses tab and there you will find discussions which you may find of interests.
See some members start loads of discussions in one sitting which tend to push a great many discussions way deep into the pages. There I have found a lot of interesting discussions which no one searched for and after my response and re-visit it a bit later I have seen lots of activity on the discussion.
This may help you too.

Also, if it is a good discussion that just got buried due to a bunch of discussions being started around the same time, then you can actually draw attention to it and draw in more responses than just your own, especially if the original poster of the discussion comments back and a you start to have a conversation, because the activity will be noticed by other members that might be interested it it as well.

Yes you could always go the no responses tab to respond on discussions to which no one responded, and make the users a little happy and and a little lower their disappointment of getting no responses to their discussion, As you know something is better than nothing.

I try to keep my self active as soon as i get a mail in my gmail that i got a comment on my discusion started or others discussion i open the page and try to give a quick reply , so that the discussion is kept going on without a break.

Going back and seeing if we have any new responses or comments on our own discussions is a great idea. Most of the time we get a notification of a new response on our discussions, but sometimes there are problems with the notifiers and we do not receive them. Also, if someone comes back and adds another comment within a response box, then we generally do not get a notifier for that even when they are working properly. Therefore, it is best to check on a regular basis just to make sure that nobody has commented since you were last there. You can do this by going to your profile page and checking under your "discussions started" to see who responded last without having to open and go through all your discussions.

Yes I do that regularly to see the comments on my responses and comments on responses on which i commented on like this one as you said that we do not get notifiers for those i noticed it just a few days back when mydianait told me that we do not get notifiers for those and I was thinking that there was problem with the mylot notifiers. So I do check them daily and comment on new responses every day that is a good way to pass some time when you do not find any thing interesting to do.

If I just cant find any discussions, I also just got to my old discussions to which I have responded and comment on my responses on which some one else had commented, I did not knew that we could receive notification for that as well I guess I did not focus on the page I guess I will just go there and turn them on now.

Yeah sometimes I also same attitude if I can seen the titles roll over in the pages thinking with the same discussions and have no ideas about that.. Like what other mylotter says no dull moment here if you can make action because there are endless number of discussions at the archives, on the top discussions list, blogs and others, add to that the task which you can try it..
Or you can start a new quality discussion which comes or prepared from you... enjoy and be active in participating here...

There really are a lot of discussions here on mylot and you will get tired responding to the discussions all day which interest as I posted up that I admitted that I was the not in a good mood yesterday to respond to discussions, for me I now Know that whenever do not find any interesting discussions to respond to it means that the problem is with me not mylot, It means that I am not in a good mood that day ...

David, if you do not have many friends, then PointlessQuestions has made a very good suggestion. Also, when you find a person that you enjoy interacting with in the discussions, especially if you have checked out their discussions and like them, then you can always request them as a friend. You do not have to wait for others to request you, but many newer users are sometimes nervous about sending a friend request - don't be. Most of us won't bite.
Alamsher - I have most of the notifiers turned "off" for the same reasons that you do. There are some select users that I have notifiers turned "on" for, though. As you get to know people better, then you might want to turn selected ones to "on" as well, because then you do not miss new and interesting discussions. It is never too late to go and respond in a discussion, but if you can get involved when many others are there interacting at the same time, then I am sure you will find it even more fun, informative and profitable.

david15923 I have a lot of friends if you just look at my profile you will know how many i have but i have turned the notification off from all my friends, as they keep on filling my inbox with lots and lots of mail from mylot and most of and i hardly find any discussions in there which interest me and most of the time discussions are not from my interest.

Just go to the top discussions and the hot discussions or the recent discussions. You will find people that aren't your friend and they also have discussions of great interest. I don't have that many friends yet, so that is what I am doing.

I will go to all intrests because there are so much and enough that I have not checked out yet. Surely I will find something I have done and then I will look through the discussions. Sometimes there is an old discussion that catches my eye and then I just read it or reply. I dont know if that is usefull since it sometimes has been a while since someone answered but when it has my interest I still give my opinion.
Other days I go over my profile and add sometinh or check out other peoples profile's and wonder how come they have such a cool page and mine is so, so but heey doesnt hurt to ask how they did it.
And how about a task? There is plenty to do here that is also the problem, I am hooked even though I have not been here long.

I used to go to the tasks a lot, but for quite a long time there weren't any that I was interested in (the ones that I liked doing vanished all of a sudden), so I often forget that I can go there and try to find something to do. Nice suggestion, Ieniemienie.

The Tasks are good way to pass time here, but they pay so much less compared to other sites which pay you to go tasks such a microworkers, they pay a lot more for tasks as compare to mylot tasks. If i had to do tasks I would go to microworkers rather than doing them here.

I have not tried any tasks lately but the tasks here on mylot pay a lot less while the tasks on other sites such as microworkers pay a lot more than mylot tasks as there are certain limits on pay per task on microworkers, but here you can place the task for as much as you want. I never check a lot older discussions I just check discussion which are just 1-2 days old but not more than that.

If I can't find anything that interests me, I usually figure it is probably my mood or something so I'll just take a break and go do something else. I sometimes come across some really great discussions that have been here for months that I somehow missed so I'm pretty sure it's just me when I don't find anything interesting. OR you could start your own interesting discussion and if it is really good, you'll have lots to respond to.

There are a lot interesting discussions on mylot everyday to respond to, but if you are not in a good mood the most interesting discussions out there wont interest you.

There are days indeed that topics around here could not interest me. I hate days like that actually but when it happens what would I do but just look over the Tasks to find if there are tasks that could interest me. If still the tasks are just as boring as the discussions then I'd just leave mylot and find other sites that will make my day worthwhile like the Youtube that never fails to entertain me.

These days, I seem to have a hard time finding discussions to respond to. I wouldn't say that's because they aren't interesting but more that I just can't really write a decent reply.
If I can't find any, I'll just upload a couple of pictures here and there on MyLot. Beyond that, I'll check in every so often through the day but sometimes I'll just do it another day.

First, we do not get paid per response, because that would imply that every single response earns the same amount. That is true as far as we know, although none of us users really knows (or is supposed to speculate) on how much we earn for what. Second, we do not know how much we get for photos for the same reason that we do not know how much we earn for responses, although I would suspect it would be based on a similar algorithm. Third, just like you are not allowed to copy your responses I would suggest that you do not copy your pictures, either. Forth, the link in the FAQs regarding photos is http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq10.aspx but you cannot upload pictures until your user rating (the number next to your name) is 500 or more.

A rating of 500 I will have a wait a month or two for that, and I know we are not supposed to copy our responses or others responses but there are a lot of discussions created with the topic of how to make money online and there are a lot of copy cats creating the same discussions created some time ago what about that do they get deleted, And how am i supposed to know that some one has already uploaded that photo there are a lot photos being uploaded every day.

Duplicate discussions, especially if they are plagiarized, will be deleted by Admin. They are usually pretty much on top of things, but sometimes it might take a day or two before a duplicate discussion gets deleted, especially if there are a lot of other things going on that require Admin's attention as well.
As to how you would know if someone has already uploaded the photo ... as far as I know we are only supposed to upload pictures that are not copyrighted, which usually means that they are our own pictures. Therefore, nobody would have been able to upload them. I have seen pictures that were uploaded with credit given to the original site, such as Wikipedia, but I would not suggest doing that much. Instead, you can just put a link in the response to wherever the picture is located on the Internet if it is not your picture.

Yes, good timing! Today I got the rare opportunity to get on mylot much earlier than normal - midday on Eastern Europe Time. Oh, what a waste of time! Perhaps 10 new discussions per hour and most of them you just know will be deleted. Let's see - six comments in five and a half hours!
I have to move to another country or find something else to do with my time!

Then use the search to find topic that interest you.
Insert a word and highlight 'discussions' and make your search.
Many will appear and you just take your pcik. It doesn't matter if they are old or recent, you will still earn if you participate in them.

probably do like what you have done. starting a discussion. I also go through the topics I like very much and then answer. I also go through common friends answers and from there I will form a thread. After all object of coming to mylot is to get a feeling that 'I am doing an important job". This will achieve by posting certain useful comments.
What are you studying in Australia? How is the job market now. have a good day.

I also go to see what some of my friends have responded to recently, especially the ones that I know like similar discussions as the ones that I do. It is funny, because many times even when we are not intentionally seeking each other out we end up responding to many of the same discussions, which is why I know that sometimes I can find interesting things by seeing what they have been doing.

Much depends on importance we give for our response and importance we give for others discussions. Since I consider this useful I am commenting. Of course much depends on one's own mood. If u start thinking should I labour soooo much for this much only.... then ur interest will go.

Hi alamsher007 (203),
I never felt as if i don't have any thing to respond on MYLOT.
Whenever i don't find anything interesting i go to "recent discussions" and start responding to the interesting discussions there as most of the users are logged in there so discussion get started.
Also i go to "top" & "hot" discussions and check if i have replied to those discussions or not if replied then check comments if got which i replied in other's box.
Also i go to "new user" "no response" discussions to check some interseting discussions.
At the last if even then nothing i found of my interset i go to friend's profile & check interested discussions there & reply or go to "all photo" & start giving comments on them.

By now I have learnt that the more fun you have on Mylot the more you earn, the less you try to have fun here and the more you go after the money the less you earn, That is what a few senior mylotters have told me. And I am not here just for the money but also for those interesting discussions created every day here and to take the advice from experienced people on the internet.

If you spend the time to look around the Lot, and all the people there, you will find some interesting discussions. I am finding them all day and all night long with no trouble. I want something I can really respond to, not just a short answer. I've really been enjoying reading and responding to just about everyone that has something of value to talk about. As long as it's not a poll discussion, and I know something about the topic, then I will answer.

Sometimes I pick a discussion that I have already responded to that interested me but the original poster has abandoned (never commented back to any of the responders) and try to comment back to as many of the responders as I can. I usually comment in many response boxes when I respond on a discussion anyway, but there are some days that I do not have the time or am not in the right mood to comment within many of the response boxes, so this gives me the opportunity to go back and do it on another day.

Yes, you have to be in the right mood to do just about anything or it will not come out right. If you are not in the mood, then it will be more like work than anything, and when you are not having fun and/or enjoying yourself, then it will seem like you are on here forever and do not earn much money, which can be quite frustrating ... or at least that has been my experience.

You are right PA! If we are not in the mood it becomes a chore and so to speak we do not put our best foot forward, therefore, it is always best to give it a try and if our mood is not up to par then it would be best to take a break come back later and or the next or so.
The best thing about myLot is that it never closes, therefore, it is never too late to comment and or respond to any discussions.

Hi!
I never and have never encounter where there are no interesting discussion at all to respond to for any day since I join Mylot. It is just a matter how you find interesting discussion and how you respond to those discussion. Just like someone just mention above, you can find top, new and many other type of discussion that sure will interest you. Do you add any category that you interested in? You have quite a numbers of interest in your profile and I believe whatever that fall in your interest, you will find it interesting, isn't it?

Things which I find interesting are not supposed to also interest you, that which things interest you, The things which interest me may or may not interest you and the things which interest you may or may not interest me, I would just say in the end that all of it is is just a matter of interests. I hope you get what I mean.

If there is not hing that is appealing to me at the time, i just leave and come back later in the day hoping for something better. If I can think of a topic that i want to discuss then I will start a new topic and hope that someone finds it interesting. I think that the site is just inundated with the same topic of "how do I make money on line?" and "what are the best sites to make money on?" that the good topics get sucked under.
