Hi guys. I have been underweight since I was very young. My BMI is 16.5 (under 18.5 means underweight). In the past when I went for a medical check, the doctor always urge me to be aware of my weight problem and try to eat more. But the problem is, I already eat a lot everyday (really a lot, I can eat three slices of pizza, a box of seafood rice as well as some snacks for my dinner, and after two hours I always have my "second" dinner, which the amount is similar to my "first" dinner). No matter how much I eat, my weight remains very stable for many years.
My doctor once suspected that my problem is related to generic issue. But my father is a very big and guy.
I know that I am underweight, and I understand that I have to gain more than 10 pounds more in order to reach the standard weight. Can you suggest some ways to gain weight fast? (P.S. I hate eating something sweety.)

Hi porkchop!!
I am OVERWEIGHT with a BMI of 26.21.
Your BMI I think is nearly under severe underweight. So you must take extra caution with that.
How about eating those you don't like??
Well, I love eating chocolates and vegetables and a lot of rice BEFORE. Now, I'm on a diet and I have to watch my weight because I am hypothyroid. Maybe you should check your thyroid condition too, you might be "hyperthyroid". Have you asked a doctor that specializes with your condition? Try searching for reasons thru the internet like I did to mine. That's why I knew I was hypothyroid. Internet is very helpful, try finding it first to yourself before seeking doctor. If it's with the genes, then, you'll be having a hard time to gain weight. Anyways, best of luck... If only I can give you some of my weight, I will.

Thanks for the BR, porkchop!!
So, have you decided to eat foods that you don't like?
A week has passed, is there any changes from your appetite? Or from your weight??
I hope there is. I hope too that you reach your normal weight. You just need to hope I'll reach my normal weight too. Let's exchange wishes.

I can certainly relate to your problem. I have always had a problem with being underweight. I can eat so much, and will hardly gain a thing. It is frustrating, because I really do want to weight more. I really want to be at a point where my weight is at a healthy point. I wish I could help you out, but unfortunately I have found anything that helps me.

All I can say, Is you have to Eat, eat, Eat, eat, Eat & eat..basically that's breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, midnight snack(if possible). Do less work,.. Eat foods rich in protein, carbohydrates, fats, etc.. which enables you to gain weight..
I am jealous of you guys not gaining weight whatever they eat, how i wish i could be like that.. huhuhu.. sad to say I'm not.
Anyway, as long as you're healthy and alive that's okey.. Live Life!!!..

I suggest that you enroll in a health/sports gym as there are trainors who will guide you on what to eat and what not to eat so you can gain additional pounds. Also there are muscle exercises that you can do to get additional muscle on your lean body.

Are you a very active person? If you are, then cutting back on your exercise might help you to gain a little weight. You can buy food replacement shakes that people use when they're trying to gain muscle, and these can have 3000 calories in each one. If you have one of these each day, or every other day, you will most likely be able to gain weight. It's a shame that you don't like eating sweet things. At just ten pounds underweight I wouldn't worry too much about it providing you're eating enough and have a good lifestyle. Some people just never manage to put on enough weight, and there isn't too much that you're able to do about that, really.

I have a friend who was once very thin too. She used to eat a lot but was still very thin. Somebody advised her to go to the gym and so she tried and liked it. After some months -- and after some complaints -- she really gained weight. She lost the "sickly" look because has gained just enough weight.
I guess even if you trying to gain weight, it is still proper to be careful with your diet and avoid foods that are not good for our body.
Cheers!

Try to gain some muscle mass by lifting weights and working out more. It's important for you to try to go about this the healthy way and not to develop any bad habits that you'll really regret later, so I'd advise not becoming a coach potato and eating your weight in pizza, chips, and chocolate. So work out and go for muscle mass, don't go for fat mass.

I have the same problem with you when I was younger. It only change when I started working.Maybe your problem is not the quantity of food, rather it's the quality.Based on the food you mention pizza, sea food rice,I think those food are not that healthy and nutritious at all.It may be high in calories but low in nutrients. If you're a rice eater, try limiting rice up to 2 cups and adding more proteins or body building food in your diet like lean meat, chicken, eggs, milk etc.As possible consume more natural and organic foods and avoid junk foods.
I also suggest for you to have a thorough medical check-up.Maybe you have some medical conditions like diabetes, hyperthyroidism, or parasitism that needs to be corrected for you to gain weight.
