I feel like I can not win! This has been a horrible month! Not only was I having relationship problems as well as financial problems but I just got off the phone with the nursing program director at my school. I have been going to Kent State University since August 2008. I have every single one of my prerequisite class done. A lot of students go into their program still needing to do a math or a science. But I am done. I was wondering why I did not get my acceptance letter in the mail yet, I can not wait for it because it requires a lot of paper work and meetings that need attended to. I called the nursing program director but she never answered so I emailed her instead. Comes to find out they only had 50 spots and 130 people applied! Here is the email she sent me:
[b]Dear Amanda,
You may recall from the Nursing Information session, the discussion of prioritization. This is our system of how we determine candidates to get in when we have more qualified applicants vs available seats.
You applied on time, which was February 1st. At that time when we were doing our first acceptance, you had two grades (A and P I and Chem 52) that prevented us from considering you on the first acceptance because you were enrolled but had not completed that course work yet. We filled most of our seats with this first round. You did a fabulous job at the conclusion of the Spring semester in improving those grades. We were then able to evaluate you for the remaining seats. Unfortunately, there were very few seats remaining at this point. You were competing with almost a hundred other applicants for a handful of seats.
To determine those seats, we use our prioritization: we look at your GPA which is great. We look at how many times the sciences and core courses had to be repeated, this hurt you a bit. We look at how much of the other course work is completed, again in your case you have most everything done. We then get a score and use the highest score.
When an application can be evaluated in the first round, that allows the greatest consideration for entry. I have to say too, we have never had so many qualified candidates apply for consideration.
While, I know the explanation does not make you feel any better, I hope that it helps in understanding. Certainly, if you apply for Spring, you should be in great shape to be considered in the first round, which gives you the best opportunity for entry.
Thank you.
Mrs. Bowler

I feel like I can not catch a break now I have no clue what I am going to do until January! I have applied for this program 3 times and the last 2 times I had gotten in I just needed to pass anatomy but I ended up failing it. Now that I passed everything and received a 3.0 I get this!

Some times our dreams may go into dark room.
Some times our mind filled with sad.
Some times we may feel like "i can't do anything".
But, we know what we are, try and try win your goal. anatomy is a very interesting subject.

It is very interesting but the problem is that there is so much information to know. I also have three kids so it is hard sometimes to find time to study.

I guess it's just not meant to be, for now.
I think if you examined the letter carefully, there are some good in it. I think it just means that you have to slow down, take a break, and get ready for when you do get in.
Relax a bit, I'm sure you'll get there.

Yes tha letter holds a lot of good things in itbut I had my heart set on going this semester. I took hard work to finally pass my anatomy and I was proud and ready.but then of course many more must have been sparked as well.

Those are just the breaks! The email is not all bad, there are positives in it. Its pretty sure that you will get in the spring term. Why don't you just relax, take a break, and have some fun for a few months. Winter will be here soon, go skiing or something!

I know it is not bad it is just depressing I was really ready for this. I have been trying to pass anatomy a couple times now and that was the only thing keeping me out of the program but now that I passed it they reject me. It just sucks because there are no classes that I am interests in taking.

I think there is no option but to wait for spring and apply on time so that they will not have an excuse. If necessary call some professor who you know very well and request. beyond this i am not familiar with american univesities. i wish u get what u want soon.
