Doctors Don't Value Human Life!!!

We have a close friend. Apparently, her son developed a palpable tumor in his neck. Obviously, in cases like this, you would go to a doctor, and that's what they did. They went to the biggest public hospital in the city 15 minutes away from our town. So they went to the doctor and asked her what should they do.
Do you know what the doctor did? Well, something that can be sued for malpractice and no doctor should obviously do!
She opened the child's neck after instilling anesthesia and to her surprise it was actually a lot way serious that she could have thought of it! Crap! What is she thinking??? A doctor who is in proper thinking would never do that! A doctor should first know what the hell the tumor is, where it is located, and then take actions, right? She can't just jump to a conclusion performing no test at all aside from touching it!
Of course, we all know that certain labs should be taken first, right? Or imaging of the tumor! Not just open it, pull it off, and then close it! She said it was a lot serious then she even convinced the mother that they would pursue the operation but in a different room??? Huh???
The mother told the doctor, no!!! (I'm glad she did that). You know what the doctor even told her? That if her son dies, she would be the one (the mother) to blame! Oh my... If I were them, I would report her for medical malpractice!!! Actually, even the nurses around know what this doctor is doing and saying is wrong and they don't want to get involved with whatever is going in her mind.
The child was brought to another hospital. The surgical wound was more than an inch and thankfully, it was stitched well. The doctor at the next hospital recommended x-ray and ultrasound before pursuing anything else and apparently the ultrasound showed something not so serious. Goodness.
Why do most doctors here in Philippines especially public ones do not respect or even care for human's life? It's like she is just going to do an experiment!!! Really makes me mad when people do not value others' lives.

That is scary. You know, we put all our trust and hope in these people just to do their jobs and take care of us, our children, our parents, our friends and loved ones. Hearing about people who don't seem to stop and think really scares me. Stuff like this winds up all over the news and gives the medical world a really bad name. I don't believe everyone working in hospitals is heartless though. I wonder sometimes if some of them get calloused to other people's pain and needs.

Well, I think these doctor should change their habits. making patients as a lving money not the living person. The hospital should choose very carefully the doctor.

The health care system in the United States is wrong period. I had an endoscopy done on my stomach five years ago and made the mistake of eating something spicy that night. I don't care for ambulances because they can never get an IV in my arm and I end up getting bruised so I had my husband take me in.
I sat in the waiting room and bawled for two hours because I was in such bad pain and they just let me sit there. The hospital claimed that they could not take me back because too many ambulances were coming in. My husband ran to my doctor's which was just over the hill and told him what was going on. He stormed into the hospital and demanded that I be taken back immediately and be admitted for my pain. I had a biopsy that I had made raw because I ate tomato sauce and I was in for a week, but the hospital just let me sit there and suffer.

Well, I don't know really about US system. But your case reminded me of my brother back when he was 3 to 4 years old. He fell off a table and hit his nose and his nose was bleeding badly so my aunt carried him, took him to the car and brought him to the same hospital where the above happened. My brother was so young and his nose bleeding so much yet nobody attended them. They actually ended up just my aunt (who studied nursing) giving medical attention to my brother. He was never seen by the doctor there until they gave up waiting and just brought my brother back home. It seemed like he was brought in the wrong facility, but where do we go when we are sick? Hospital right? So many heartless people nowadays.

I agree with you, there are some doctors that are not following the ethics that the professional doctor should have. You know the reason why we go to the hospital is to get advice from the doctor and not to get additional worry or any words that will make offend the patient or the parents of the patient. I just remember when i went to the public hospital that was about 12:00 am, because my daughter was vomiting that time. We have wait until 3:00am to get the findings and the prescription of the doctor. While telling me that my daughter has UTI and give me the prescription for vitamin she said that i have to give vitamins to my daughter even they have cough. So i told her that my mother told me not to give vitamin when the children have cough because its so sweet. She just told me that " Is your mother a doctor? if not then don't follow because you are all known Nothing"...I really offended that time because she is like a superwoman that knows everything.

Yeah.. those doctors. I remember going to another public hospital, my brother and I and I said to my mom I have to be admitted because I really was not feeling well and the doctor talked so harsh. You know.. she is very harsh in talking that I just decided we go home. We had to stay a little while until my brother's fever lowered down but I never wanted to see her again. Really... She talked like blaming us why we are sick. Duh... Who wants to get sick?

Yes, I think many if not all doctors have lose the heart to serve. They just do their job as part of their routine and to earn money. They are not doing this anymore out of desire to serve and to heal. What that doctor did should not be left just like that. She indeed can be sued for medical malpractice. I hope to see a doctor paying the price of her misdeed.

Yeah.. Specially in that hospital most people who go there are so poor people who cannot afford a private provider. That's why they think people would not do anything against them as people look at them as respectful people. Grr... That's why we always try to go to private doctors than public hospitals and doctors...

biggest public hospital? so likely its tertiary..
no way the doctor would do that? i mean seriously? wasnt the doctor taking some samples for biopsy?
well, not all doctors, i know the doctors i work with, and even though they are really strict and sometimes unapproachable they never made a mistake, may it be medications, procedures and the like.. most of all, they treat their patients like their own child..
im glad the kid is fine.. :)

I have to agree with you in that. I, myself, happened to see many times a doctor recommending you a particular medicine, just because the pharmaceutical company endorses them with it, or because they work something like affiliate marketing with them. So it's not weird to see 3 different doctor's recommending you 3 different medicines just for the earnings they get, even though only 1 of those is the best for your health, but they don't really seem to care much about that.
