Do you make expenses when you don't have the money yet?

Lol, I know one who does it. haha... It's funny how she can come up with things to buy and things to spend, yet she still doesn't have the money. I think people should think of ways to earn and to save rather concentrate on thinking to spend. What do you think?

Well, i do that too. Specially , when we are going to be given an incentive, i would think of things to buy with it already. I would even go around the mall and canvass , how much they actually cost.
However, sometimes , when the money arrives, i change my mind and keep the money and save it for a bigger thing to buy when the money accumulates.

I never spend money I don't have. It's like using a credit card while being an irresponsible teenager, you shouldn't do it lol. It's why I like to pay in cash rather than credit, so you realize where your money is going. I think that's why so many people get into debt so early in life because they don't realize how much they charge because they don't physically have the money in their hands.

No I don't spend more than I have. At least I try not to. I only get a check once a month, and I make a list of what I will have to pay that month. Any that is left is "free" money. Sometimes emergencies come up though. I have a line of credit that I use in that case. I just got my car inspected and it cost more than I had in my budget, so I used the credit line. It is better than using a credit card, because the interest is so low.

Good to hear that you can discipline yourself from spending beyond your means. A lot of other people don't know how to do just that! I suggest that you also have to allocate a savings or investing money within your budget. It helps a lot if you got savings especially during those times when emergencies set in like what you have mentioned. The motto is "Live well below your means"!

Hi santos mari chris: No, that's not a good thing to do. Because your playing with your money. You don't knwo how your future will be and what amount of money you'll need and of course if you have the cash and then you make the plans you can be totally sure about what things you can afford to buy. So I don't do this. My uncle for example buys things even if he doesn't have the money to do it and this has given him some big problems so for me it's a big no.

Oh, I do this, I think of the things I'll buy even if I don't have the money yet. This serves as my inspiration to work and get the money I need. I think it works well for me and I think there's no harm in doing it. I make a list of things I would buy in the near future, make dreams of getting them and visualize that I already have it. it is also a kind of therapy to kick that boredom and stress away!

I agree with you! People like the one you know are often well liked by creditors and credit card schemers. As the saying goes, "live within your means". Never spend on anything that is beyond your means or it will spell trouble on you. The problem is that more people have the habit of spending first then saving what's left. It should be the other way around though.

I try to never do this. I am always looking for ways to make more money so that I will have the money I need to pay bills and buy the items that I need to buy.

They say that when you know how to spend, you should know better how to save. I have a lot of things in my mind that I wanted to buy or purchase but the main problem is money. Lucky for those people who were born with a silver spoon. They don't have to work hard just to earn money.
Anyway, saving is important. Budgeting for your needs is also one way of being smart when it comes to handling your finances. Spend less, earn more, this is what I am doing now. But I still needed to earn more so that at least I can spend something for what I need. At least I know where to draw the line between wants and needs. First things first, buy what I needed.

For me not at all because I'm a type of a person who spent money if I had it in my hand if not then stop to spent.

Sometimes I think of things that I want to buy, those things that I need and so I save money to buy it. Sometimes, just plain wanting a thing like a bag, a blouse or something frivolous but I don't worry because when here comes the money, I lose interest in buying and so I settle with what I already have. I don't know what you call this behavior.
