I absolutely love to read and I've accumulated more books over the past few months than I think I can read in a couple year's time lol. The only thing that would make me happier would be to discuss some of the books that I read, but I'm the only person I know who loves to read as much as I do. Please let there be some like-minded people out there who want to read with me :-). Lately I've been reading a lot of stuff by Carl Weber (who is now one of my favorite authors) and right now I'm reading a book by Mary Monroe. I have several Terry McMillan books that I have yet to read, as well as one by Eric Jerome Dickey and one by Kayla Perrin. I also started a Stephen King book that I haven't gotten around to finishing, but I have every intention of finishing it before the end of the summer. I'm open to any author, though, and I have plenty of suggestions. Does anyone else share my enthusiasm?

Your intention is no doubt very noble. I am sure if you start a book club, you will get enough number of mylotters to join your club. In the mean time, I would also suggest you to keep up the good habit of reading which you are fond of.

Have you read any books by Nicholas sparks. A lot of his books became movies: the notebook, walk to remember, and message in a bottle. His new one that came out in movIe was nights in roadanthe and dear John. if you have not read them they are very good and I suggest them.

Yeah, i read "The Rescue" by Nicholas Sparks. So, you like the books written by Nicholas Sparks also? Actually, i think the book written by Cecelia Ahern also very nice. I read "The Book of Tomorrow" before this. The book written by Cecelia Ahern always included some magic part.

Hi 2cateyes,
I also love to read, and I only have one friend who loves to read as much as I do. We don't have bookclubs here in Argentina, at least none that I know of, so I usually discuss books with her.
Are you a member of goodreads? There are a lot of book lovers there, writing reviews, and reccomending books, etcetera.
We can also try and start reading the same book you and me, so as to discuss it online, but the problem is that I have a hard time finding books in english because they are very expensive here in Argentina.
What do you think?

I'd kinda like to be a member of a book club but it would depend on the books being read. I'm a bit genre-picky. I stick mainly to high fantasy and I don't venture far from it. If I'm interested in something then I'll give it a try, but I tend to prefer speculative fiction over realistic fiction and fiction over non-fiction.
Well if you start a book club then let me know what you're reading and I might join in.

I really do share your enthusiasm, cateyes, and am an avid reader of stories myself. I of course, don't start up on many stories simultaneously, intending to plow on to the end of one before I reach out for another. I'm a stickler for the fantasy genre, and have read many books in that category. I don't even know how many people have heard about them. For instance, the Artemis Fowl series I've seriously liked. Anothe book series which I've found hilarious is the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series. Then of course, are my all-time favourites, the Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings series. I've also read a somewhat less known novel series, the first one of which was also made into a film, The Golden Compass. The Twilight series also I've read in full, though I didn't like that much. The Chronicles of Narnia series are also one of my favourites. (Wow, I haven't noticed that before, but I sure do have a thing for series, haven't I? ) I've read all Dan Brown novels, starting from The Da Vinci Code to The Lost Symbol. Currently, I'm reading a classic, one that many people have already read and is very much well-known. It's Treasure Island.

i'd love to join one too, but like others before me, i too am picky. i'm picky about my genres, not really a good conversationalist and also am not often online. but joining a book club will help me find more recommendations and titles on genres that i enjoy and also, help me to promote my blog at the same time. i write about books that i've read and enjoyed on my blog. of course, the genres all tend to be similar or same but still, those who enjoy the same type of books i do would like it i feel. it's a niche blog i guess hehe i would also be able to meet others who share my interests as well and broaden my knowledge. i'll definitely join one if i find it to my liking.

Hi, I love to read too! Right now, I am reading The Brethren by John Grishom, I am thinking this is the only book of his that I haven't read, I have read all his latest books now. This is an older one which I found in our home library that I haven't read, we have all his books by the way. You should try him. I've read Stephen King before, a couple I think or more, but not lately. I will have to check if we have books by those authors you mentioned because I don't think I have read any of those books. By the way, I love to read biographies, and if fictions, preferably those that are #1 Bestsellers especially New York Times Bestsellers. I am open to e-books now, I love inspirational e-books, including true stories. I am not really anxious to read just any books, especially those that are not bestsellers and especially if I am not familiar with the authors, unless someone tells me it's good. Before the Grishom book, I was reading Brad Thor and Vince Flynn. By the way how do you intend to start this book club online?

I love reading, and have a had a few all female book clubs, but that normally degenerated into drinking girlie drinks and bashing our significant others with a few comments on the book we read.
That being said, if you pick one book to talk about, I will gladly read it and discuss it with you. The only authors I recognize from your list are Stephen King (who I hate to read and normally end up with nightmares) and Terry McMillan, but cannot think of what he writes off the top of my head.
I tend to read trashy romances. I have been on a vampire kick lately. I read all of the Sookie Stackhouse books over the last 4 or so months, and now I am reading Laurell Hamiltons Anita Blake series.

It sounds like a lot of fun. But I can see some problems with it. For one thing, I would have had to read the same books which you have read. Are you going to select a specific book for discussion each month? How will I be able to get the book? Are you going to mail out copies? How much time do I have to finish reading it?
From what you wrote, I can see that your taste in reading is different from mine.
I enjoy novels, preferably under 350 pages, and no science fiction. I usually pick up iteresting novels at yard sales. Good luck.
