What is your license to eat?

In an effort to get healthy, I got myself a bicycle today! I work close by, so I figured that I could just bike to work to get my exercise in, and provide myself with a gasoline-free mode of transportation. I'm quite excited about this prospect for two reasons! Aside from (1) getting healthy, I can also (2) look at the bike as my 'license' to eat! As long as I get to bike, which I enjoy, I could also indulge in my other 'like', which is eating! And without any guilty feelings. I enjoyed a 20 minute bike ride today. And when I got home, I rewarded myself with a double-chocolate ice cream bar! So, do use the same analogy as me? Or do you have something that you treat as your license to eat? Do you enjoy eating as much as me?

Bravo! biking is good for you. my license to eat? Living! Since birth I haven't eaten anything I didn't want. But then again I have always been in shape, Round! I didn't look to lose weight but I did, How? At my work , I walk 15 hours a week. I eat one huge meal on work days. And low and behold , my clothes became too big! So I guess to others my license is the work out I get at work. But to me it is Life, my life. I'm lucky enough to be able to eat anything I want , And I do. Food Nazis would have their own heart attack if they knew my diet! but It works for me and that;s al that matters!

There are some hills I rather walk than ride. In fact I get a bus down and up one!

Yes! Biking is good for me. But I'm not sure if I am good for biking! I've never really known how hard it could be. And I've never really appreciated the little inclines on the road, and how much hard work it takes to get on top of a hill! I need to keep at it! In the mean time, I keep rewarding myself with double chocolate almond ice cream bars!

Funny, you should say that, just this afternoon my boss treated us to Pizza, I don't know how long it has been since I ate a slice of pizza, and for me I love cheese, so it was like a big deal. If I recall correctly, the last time I ate pizza was approximately 4 months ago, so it's been a while. I normally work out at least 3 to 4 times a day, and maintain a good eating habit, so for me that was my license to eat that pizza. And it was well worth it...

work out at least 3 to 4 times a day?! Well, I guess you must really be fit. I wish I could do that! I even have trouble working out 3 to 4 times a week. And yet I continue to eat! Cheese pizza sounds good right about now.

Wow, what the heck was I thinking, I really meant to say week not day. I have a hard time keeping up with a few times a week. Trust me the pizza was great!!!

Guilty of eating without a license. I eat what I want and dont really give it alot of thought. I am basically pretty active anyway but I do love to eat!

I guess when you're pretty active, then you really need not worry about overeating. As long as you always burn it off, then it's great to treat yourself with some sweet dessert once in a while. Thanks.

I do like eating..lol. I go hiking in the summer and although I am in management, my job is very physical. I try to lead by example and that puts me right in the middle of a bunch of work..LOL..it keeps me pretty fit though.

My previous job was like that. Although I had a desk in the front office, I needed to walk around the plant several times a day. And it could take a good 20 minutes to go around then. I think I would become a fat-cat with this new job. Considering our plant is really small. Anyway, thanks.

When I was younger I really did enjoy eating and there were very few things that I would not eat. However, as I've grown older I've come to realize that I need to lose some weight so that I can be healthier and that means that I don't eat nearly as often as I used to and when I do eat I don't eat nearly as much junk as I used to eat. With that said, when I do an extended exercise, I will typically reward myself with a little something.

I think moderation is the key. I think there is nothing wrong with rewarding yourself after some rigorous exercise. In my case, an ice cream bar for a 20-minute bike ride. Thanks.

I don't have any "license to eat" but I eat anyway! Hehehe. I wish I had a bikke like you do and maybe I can get around to moving more too. But it's not in our budget as of yet. I used to do the 5-mile workout video but after about a month of doing that, I got really bored. I have not gone back to it for 2 months now. Sigh!

Maybe it's time to get back at it?! Haha! I'm going to make you guilty, and tease you to go back to it! Just kidding. Anyway, I know half of it is motivation. So, if there is really nothing there, the body wouldn't really either. My bike is fairly new, so I am still motivated. Let's see a couple of months from now.

I love good food! But I am probably lucky as I have quite savoury tastes and a busy lifestyle. It means that if I do snack it tends to be something healthier, and that's when I've time to stop!

Oh how I wish I could only snack on healthy food! But sometimes I couldn't help it. There are just things that are not healthy, yet tastes so damn good! Thus the bike! Thanks.

I do love eating.. especially foods I shouldn't! I never give myself excuses to eat.. I just eat. Generally when I work out I eat less, and better. I really need to get back into working out (I say that everyday!).

Same here, I think I say that everyday too. That's why I think this bike could jump start that working out phase in me. And maybe I could move on to eating healthy. Maybe, maybe, maybe. Thanks.

I am smiling whilst reading this. Remember that I told you that calories don't count if I eat standing up? And yes, I do like to eat - unfortunately.

Oh yeah! I've actually done that! Sometimes it gets so busy at work that I just stuff my sandwich into my mouth while at work, standing of course. And I remember smiling, because I know that the calories don't count! Thanks cynthiann.

Let's see . . . I have legs, so I can walk over to the kitchen at any time. I have hands, so I can grab anything in the pantry or fridge. I have a stomach that tells me it needs to be filled, so I fill it. My body gives me the go ahead license to eat - HA HA!! Seriously, good for you and your bike! I am an ex-athlete, so I know what you're saying . . . which reminds me I need to get back on track with exercising. With 2 little ones, it's been hard to find the time . . . but I know I can make time if I REALLY wanted to (it's just easier NOT to when you haven't done it in a long time). I love eating, oh yah! Not necessarily sweets though . . . I love trying different foods period. I would be a terrible food critic because I think nearly everything I try is GOOD - hee hee!

I do like to eat just as you, though I am a very healthy eater. I too am very exercise minded so I can indulge every once in a while. I am glad to hear that you are now riding your bike to work, this is really great exercise for you hear dear bounce so great job with that. As for the double-chocolate ice cream bar, yum.. you deserved it.

It seems like everytime I go to this discussion, I have an ice cream bar on my hand. Hi HWG. Many months ago, I contemplated on getting a stationary bike. And I really considered your suggestion of the healthrider. After much thinking about it, I opted for the real bike (sorry). So finally I could get moving. Thanks for dropping by.

For 3-4 months I also had my "license" to eat. Every morning after I take my kids to school I was going to the gym and was walking for at least 30 minutes. This way I started to lose the extra pounds I have and I could eat some not that healthy foods. But unfortunately we finished school and now I can hardly push myself out. I haven't been to the gym for almost 2 weeks now and I miss it so much :(. At the same time I don't have a "license" to eat now. Not that I like eating. No. It's my worst time of the day when I have to prepare the table and sit with the family to eat. Since I was a little girl I am dreaming that one day somebody will discover a pill that we'll take in the morning and the whole day we won't need to eat :). May be one day, who knows.

It does make it easier when you got some built in exercise incorparated with the everyday things that you do. Like when you take your kids to work. You know you could have that extra dessert, when you know you could walk it off. Thanks.

I do have a badminton set in the garage! And I do love playing it. Aside from it being fun, it is a good exercise. It is just that it's been a long time since I've played it. It might get revisited this summer though. Thanks, and welcome to myLot!
