The shop in my city, from where I get mine and my wife‘s supply of medicines, he sends his delivery boy to my home with the medicines, he permits 10% discount too. Today I observed a very interesting thing; here it is, just see. He came with medicines, a Cash Memo and a note book, which had several pages, with name of costumers at the top. The date, name of medicines, quantity, and rate, total costs were noted ‘WITH PENCIL’; After I made the payment, he erased with an eraser, and the page was clean. What an idea to save paper, and ultimately the trees and the green environment. He saved money too. Hats off to this man, I think others should follow him. What you say, do you use pencils and erasers, I don’t. Please respond and share your views. Thanks in advance. Professor ‘*Bhuwan*’. . Cheers have a lucky day ahead.

Indeed, he is doing something good in order to help preserve the green environment. In the other hand, he is trying his best to cut-down his expenses as everything is on the rise now. He's indeed a very wise person. It is hard to come by, even medical shop in my area here, prefer to use computer and printer. They said, they need to key-in the details, so they can easily retrieve the medicine for me whenever i visit them the next trip.

Yes, using computer have its convenient way to retrieve info. Since you do keep records of the kind of medicines that both of you consume, then no problem didn't get any receipt from them. Yes, indeed going green is good for everyone and the world, too.

That seems to be an awesome system. Instead of a checklist, the items delivered and the service is erased to indicate that he's done with the task. I love using pencils but not for when I'm writing in my journal. I use pencils for lists and for highlighting things I see in my books that interest me.

By journal I mean writing in my diary. I don't call it diary anymore because I feel a little too old for the word. So I use journal instead :)

Sounds like he is a very good buisness man. I have always preferred writing w/a pencil but of course there is many things u can't use a pencil for such as signing checks etc. I sure need an eraser quite often.

That is a great way to save some paper! I don't use a pencil much. I thought about until you started this discussion! I will say when I do my taxes every year I first do them in pencil just in case I make mistakes, which I usually do!

I never liked using pencils because of the fact that I'm a left-handed person. Thus, when I was in school and had to take notes and such, I would end up with smears across my hand on a daily basis. It was always a lot easier for me to use ink pens because they don't smear the same way that pencils do. However, I think if I were a right-handed person then I wouldn't have any kind of a problem at all with using pencils.

Using pencils is ok. Probably he is using pencils to see that he doesn't show these sales in his records so that he has to pay less taxes. It is advisable to use pens only for records and/or computers with back up. have a nice day.

But here in the USA they could not do something like this unless they had another type of receipt with them, as all Prescriptions and costs have to be documented somewhere for when it comes time to filing taxes each yr. people can use this as a Deduction if they have spent enough. But if you also got a receipt for your purchase, and this is just the delivery person this is a great way to save some paper space for sure.

I don't keep the receipts that are printed by the computer any more, but I used to. I guess it would be better if they didn't waste so much paper every time I went for a refill on my medications to print out all the same papers they did the time before. They have all the information saved in their computer and since I am on medicaid the only records I will need starting next month would be receipts showing that I spent $102 so that they will start paying my bills each month.

Hi, Professor2010~! I'm not sure which is costlier, paper or eraser. Does he have a cell phone? Why not use it to record custumers' informations? Only a little electric energy.

Dear Professor A wise man indeed. Though I do use paper but not pencils as I am a pen user. I think a lot of us can actually learn from him as we do tend to waste in many ways. Yes we really do need to recycle a lot of things we simply discard. Money is tight for many of us and re-using would be really wise.

He really is a wise and thrifty man, professor. He maximizes his profit so much by being thrifty in some incidental costs. I guess, that's what other businessman does. Save costs in everything that could be saved , in the end giving him more profit for his business.

Hi Professor, I have not used a pencil in years. I only use pens. That does seem like a good idea, as long as he can keep his books up to date to know what his income is and stuff.. I guess he has that all figured out already though. Have a nice weekend Professor! PQ

That is a very smart idea and it saves paper too. Sometimes I use pencil depending on what I am writing. If it is inportant I would write it in pencil so I can erase any major mistakes, but I usually just use my laptop to avoid paper.

We can all reuse various paper products in many ways. I use junk mail envelopes to send lunch money w/ the kids to school and I write lists and notes on about any paper. I also take the papers that come home from school with the kids and cut them into smaller scraps for reuse. I'm still working on getting the girls to color on the backs of them.

Very good idea friend, you can cut 3 sides, reverse the envelopes and make new ones bit smaller in size though.. Thanks for sharing, many will use like you do. God bless you, have a nice day ahead. Professor ‘@Bhuwan@’. .

This shop owner proves that he's indeed a wise and responsible person, who cares about the environment and the future of our planet;I wish there were much more people like him who would be interested in saving Earth's resources, but I'm afraid this is a rather isolated case.I hope I'm wrong, but I thin k most people who own a business think only of their own welfare and don't take such an important aspect as it is to save trees into consideration.
