Radio at Home

Laptop, Ipods, internet radio etc. has took place radio this days (the old radio). I remember while I was still young, we had a radio at home. (I also had a personal radio before but I don't remember where it is now.) My mom and dad use the radio especially every morning to listen to local news. During rainy season, the radio is very helpful because my dad always listen to weather updates to check if there is a storm ahead or when classes are suspended and the like. He believes that news is faster in radio than of that television. For me I love using my radio before just to listen to music in a local station but news I don't remember using my radio just to listen to the news. These days, I wonder if there are still some who uses the radio. Maybe there are a few. What do you think?

My house still has 5 in it. One in the living room, one in my bedroom, one in my daughters room(hers is also a CD player), one in the laundry room, and one in the garage. They still work well. I am all for free entertainment. I do think that if the one in the living room were to die, we would just toss it and not replace it. My husband uses the one in the garage to blast music all the time. My daughter doesn't know how to use hers, but I have it set to a classical music station for background noise when she goes to sleep.

I really do not see the point in getting rid of perfectly functioning items that are still used on occasion. The one in our room has an alarm, so it is multipurpose item.

cheatedaphrodite, You seem not to know that radio have been built into some brand of mobilephone which a user can use to listen to music, information, news etc. I use a mobile phone that has FM station inbuilt inside of it and whenever I am on the move I take my mobile phone along and I use it to listen to different music and news for the radio station. I do not use the tradional radio anymore. Moreover, with a nokia phone you have everything quite handy. Most mobile phone have camera,tv station, radio staion, calculators, video camera, internet, and voice recorder all built inside of it. Therefore, I will stay, to hell with the old fashion traditional radio.

I know how a mobile phone works, what I am asking is if there are still some who uses the old type of radio even if they have a mobile phone. And as you can see there are some who still uses them at times and not only depend on their gadgets. Got me?

Before invention of televisions radios were the prime Equipment of entertainment. Even now the Broadcasting is done through cell phones. Whatever informations like news, songs, weather reports, sports commentary etc... radios used to broadcast are now available in our pocket through cells.

I listen to the radio regularly usually in my car but i hardly ever listen to music stations i usually listen to bbc radio 4 it has different documentaries, plays and comedy it always has something interesting to listen to. Though i have the horrible feeling that it is the arrogant belief i am an intelligent intelectual and i listen to it to uphold this false impression as in reality i am no intelectual.

it's nice to know that you still love playing it even if it's only in your car because I noticed that some prefer to listen with their earphones or headphones connected to their mobile or iPods etc.

yes, radios now are just for displays, even if they are still working no one cares to turn them on since they have their own mobile, iPods etc. thanks that radios can't talk just like humans, because if they did they will really complain..hehe

I pretty much only listen to the radio in the car, it's hard to listen to it anywhere else. A lot of cell phones don't have FM radio's anymore, when I had my old cell phone I used to listen to the radio through that the whole day walking around anywhere so I wouldn't have the same few songs I had on my phone replaying a million times. I don't hear news as much as I hear music on the radio anymore, I remember when that was the opposite. Now, I hear news at the top of the hour on each channel usually. I would rather get my news from the television for visuals, I'd like to see it rather than hear it.

yes you are right, sometimes you can't rely on your phone when using it as your radio.

Old Radio - The News Messenger
We still do have a radio/cassette at home. It is isn'nt the old time radio we used to listen to when we were still kids but in this modern days where Ipods, internet and a lot more upgraded gadgets are proliferating this radio cassette of ours is somewhat forgotten by most members of the family. But my husband still uses this radio to listen to morning news. He'd put this on top of our headboard and would switch this on every morning to his favorite news program. This is his simplest and cheapes way of updating himself with the latest news.

I usually listen to the radio in the car, but I can't recall ever turning it on at home. I like the radio though because I get to hear new music that I haven't heard before. I love my iPod... but sometimes I want to hear what else is out there. My iPod is sort of a censored to me version of the radio stations that I listen to. I think the rest of my family is the same way. We all listen to the radio in the car and maybe sometimes at home in the kitchen while we're cooking or working on some other craft projects, but we also have our own iPods.
