I hate Windows Media Player 12! I wanna replace it with a media player that will let me fully customize it and that will play all types of media. Any recommendations?

Full customization comes at a cost.
But I do have some suggestions for you.

as mentioned earlier, VLC Media Player is excellent, and light weight for watching virtually any video clip and/or music files.
Dont be fooled by it's plain design. It is possible to skin it to be more appealing to the eye.

Songbird is a more than excellent alternative for playing music files.
Similar to iTunes, it focuses on a "music library" for keeping track on your files.
Only downside is that it may be a bit tricky to get it to remove deleted files from your library.
Although there is many addons, and "feathers", for songbird (and as it's based on mozilla source code, even some firefox addons will work for it's built in web browser), many addons are outdated.

This is probably the best all-round alternative I can recommend.
Open source, with binaries available for Windows, MacOS, Linux and modded xbox classic.
(XBMC is an abbreviation for Xbox Media Center, which is where it all started).
Not really light-weight, but 10/10 for usability.
Got TONS of addons and skins, which you can install from inside the program.
Supports virtually any video format, any audio format, and even got addons for more tube-sites than most people know of.
Strongly recommended.
I think I'll stop my post here, as XBMC is everything and more what you could need.

OK, I tried it and it is really confusing.
I'll just try some simpler softwares.

If none of my previous suggestions fill your criteria, you could use delicious.com's cloud function to try and find a better alternative.

Well I would recommend Quick Time Player. I have and use that on my Mac. I love it. Windows to me is old fashioned. Nothing seems to work right with that. I used to have a PC years ago and I had nothing but problems with windows. Ever since I got a Mac I have had no problems.

I have hated Media Player right from the start. An application is best if it is light weight. For example, a browser like chrome loads very fast because it has the least amount of graphics. Similarly if I want to use a media player I prefer one like vlc. It is one of the best. I hardly use anything else. The only issue with light weight applications is that they crash more than others. But I have found vlc to be more stable than most others. So try it out.

i suggest you to download k-Lite Codec Pack with Windows Media Classic Home Cinema.
it can play all types of media. In Classic player has many additional feature which windows media player don't have. you can change shortcuts combinations used in player.
i personally prefer it over VLC. if you video file is little bit corrupt or there is some error in video file then classic player will not be able to play it then you will have to use VLC. VLC can handle little corrupt files.

VLC Media Player is a good alternative to Windows Media Player. I like it a lot and it's good.

Well.. I mostly use media player only for playing songs. But for videos i am using VLC player. Which is quite good. I was using real player for music and videos in the past .And it was quite good software too.
