I just spent the most amazing evening decorating and organizing my house! I moved in about a year ago and I've been very slowly buying furniture and necessities and bargain hunting/making decorations. Tonight I decided to go through a bunch of the stuff I had already and a few new things and try to get things put together! So fun!! I did this for wall art: Printed pictures I took on a recent weekend trip, put them in frames from the dollar store. Framed drawings me and some friends did and posted those. Framed pictures from an old calendar. And I used those velcro to the wall fasteners so I didn't have to poke any holes into the wall! Then I painted some old glass food jars and empty shoeboxes and used those to organize small stuff like pencils, headphones, remote controls, hair ties, etc... Totally fun night at home and completely free!!! Woohoo!!!

Hi, hdc4free, I am happy for you! You have a totally fun and productive night. I am a crafty person as well however, I have difficulty finding time to do the crafty stuff that will beautify my home. Is the place you are decorating you own house? I am only renting and hoping to have a place of my own soon... then maybe I will find time to be productive and do my crafty stuff too.

Hahah true, but I was too broke from moving! I moved for a job and finally caught up on finances so I can start decorating some stuff. I wish it were going faster though...

Yeah, if we are not busy doing the usual stuffs like going to work or school and doing the household chores, we can devote some time organizing and decorating even our own rooms. Some say that during their free hours they do not have something to do or they are bored or something when in fact, if our imagination and creativity will spark suddenly, we can do something like cleaning our table top or our cabinets. Even organizing the pictures in our photo albums will use most of our time. And it will be a great accomplishment for some simple things done.

Well it was Friday night last night, a night I usually go to dinner or out with friends but we are trying to save our money for vacation next month, so I figured this was some great entertainment for free!

Wow, amazing that you can turn some things into good use like those shoe boxes and food jars. Care to post for some pictures to inspire us as well? Thanks for sharing. These are great tips if someone wants to decorate in a budget.

It was fun, I will have to take some pics, I just used regular paint on the jars and wrapping paper + decoupage glue to decorate the shoeboxes :)

I like decorating too but sometimes they can be expensive. Last night i received a photo from a friend who decorated his daughter's room and it was pretty cool. He did it for a week thought and it got him so exhausted. I like your idea of using old stuff that we can see loitering around our house and turn them into cool decorations. I wish i could be as resourceful as you and creative too. I really love to decorate my house at a lesser cost. Wish you could have posted a photo of what you did here. Thanks for sharing.
