Are social networking sites good for our society?

I think social networking sites are a waste of time and space. Personally I use to be on facebook, Bebo, Myspace and have deleted all accounts, they did nothing but cause problems and all eveyrone refers to now adays is well I out it on my fabcebook and on facebook, god I get sick of hereing about it, i renamed it bookface and also there is a bar so it cant' be used in the house. Surely if you want to speak to someone you would call them, text them write them a letter or ssend an email. And you always end up getting stuck talking to peoiple that you wouldn't give the time of day to in the street

I think social networking is good and bad for our society. I'll give you two examples: America and Egypt. In America, social networking takes up a good portion of time we have in our day. And for what? Usually social networking is just water-cooler talk or things that aren't really important. In some cases, people use social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter to create false images of themselves to make themselves feel better. And no doubt that social networking has caused people to become more anti-social than before. Now people are refusing to go outside and interact with people because they can simply do it on a chair at home. In a way, it can be good also. Take Egypt for example. Egypt has used social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter to progress in society. They've used to it to cause a revolution and demand a better form of government. If you look back at the uprising in Egypt about a few months ago, many Egyptians were creating Facebook events so that people could coalesce together. They were also posting Twitter status updates to keep people informed overseas when they were given restricted access to the internet. And social networking sites definitely helped them get the word out. It helped strengthen their movement and ultimately helped them win. If they hadn't harnessed the power of these social networking sites, maybe they'd still be facing these adversities today.

For me it is good about it business so that even if you are to sleep the income is there and when you go to vacation then the income is still.

They are antisocial! They teach you to think of people only as followers or numbers instead of real human beings. You yourself become just another username among thousands of other anonymous entities. Greed and pride surround the quest for followers. You are entirely open to being scammed, misinformed, duped or even having your identity stolen. You pretend to be someone else. You hide the real you. You live in fear of people finding out the truth! New message from God waiting for you!

Actually, its how you use social networking that makes it negative or positive.

well i think social networking sites have real access the social in so many different way. i have a staying in another country try to study. the most common medium i use to stay connected with my friend and family it through facebook. that does not mean social networking site did not contribute negative to the social a lot of family life and property has been lost because some people use this mediums for their own self gain. i read a story of a girl that kill her self because her boy friend post her naker picture on one of this social networking sites. if there is no social netwoking site this could not have happen. so it up to us to know how we use this networking sites for ever good or bad..
