I am very disapointed with a lot of the reviews and articles about myLot!

Hello fellow myLotters,
I am quite disappointed with a lot of the reviews/articles about myLot on the internet. A lot of them are incorrect!
For example, one review/article stated that you earn money here on myLot by asking and answering questions. It said, "When you're posting answers to questions, you earn more money if the are of quality and not the typical one line responses." ... What!?
MyLot is a discussion site! Not a Q&A (question and answer) site!
Also, the review/article referred to myLot as a "paid to post" program, as well as a "get paid to" program.
Again, myLot is a discussion site!
It really annoys me when people mislead others about myLot! If people are going to write an informative review/article on myLot, they should first learn about the site and how it works for themselves! Obviously, the person who wrote this review/article has not carefully and/or fully read the discussion guidelines, and has not been here for a long time.
What do you think? Does this annoy you as well?

Yes I do get annoyed by some articles I stumble upon on the net about myLot. The annoying part is that a great deal of them are missing the key factors how how to properly utilize myLot.
Many are simply telling any viewers that they can come here and post to their hearts content and omit the part about I type, I earn, you type you earn. Therefore, many new comers get quickly disappointed and begin to scream scam because of it.
I am also appalled that many of the articles say things like get paid 5 cents and or 8 cents per post! This is totally wrong information and completely misleading. This is the main reason why many members leave here and scream SCAM.
I have helped so many new comers and they instantly admit that they were told the wrong ways. It is quite apparent because none of the articles I stumble upon stress quality, participation and patience.
I know we can't change the world but for every 1 of 3 that makes a full turn here in myLot makes it well worth it for me.

Hi PQ!
I also it this way too, some people spend countless hours on sites like Facebook and or myspace. They don't earn there, while here though a bit different we still enjoy the site and absolutely anything earned is quite a bonus.

I agree. Some folks come here expecting to make some serious money and they are disappointed when they find out they only earn pennies a day. I try to tell people the more they participate the more they will earn. Some call this a spam site because they only earned a couple of cents, and then I go look at their participation and it is ZERO! No responses to their own discussions and saying hardly anything in their responses. I love it here and I'm fully satisfied with my earnings here... but I am more satisfied with the enjoyment I get from chatting with so many people here.

Actually I don't see anything wrong with that sentence. They are simply saying that you should post quality responses, not one liners. And I'm not sure if you've payed attention, but most discussions are asking questions. "What's your favorite music? What do you think about the NY gay marriage thing? How much money have you made?" Those are all typical MyLot discussions.
Now I have seen a few comments that are annoying. Complaining that they aren't earning enough or that no one responds to their discussions. But those are just silly little complaints.

"What's your favorite music?" and "How much money have you made?" ar typical myLot polls and as such are violations and get deleted.
Maybe you joined too after rading one of those reviews? MyLot is for quality discussions and NOT for questions that just require answers.

@ sooner: we all know that not everything that should have been deleted was.
Admin has also said (and it is there in his profile to read) that some polls stand a chance of staying up - but those are discussions just like myLot require them to be.

Certainly those who post a question and expect to earn for the answers that it receives will be disappointed because we only earn for our own activity here and not that of others. The responses on a discussion earn NOTHING for the person who starts it.

angelee I am also as it is a discussion site and not a one line
question and one line answer site. there are plenty of those and I have no idea whether they get paid or not. but as our own diana says this
is a discussion sight and we are supposed to make quality responses, comments and discussions. one word or one line questions do not even get paid, the reviewer must not have been here very long as he or she has not got the idea of what mylot really is like.

Well, the writer did point out the fact that you must write quality responses, not just one-line responses... however, the writer suggested this was a question and answer site.
He did not stress the fact that this is a discussion site, and that you must discuss to earn here. That is what makes it misleading.

This site has been good to me. I will admit that I do not spend a lot of time on here like I use too. I still love the site, and have read a lot of reviews on the site and it is true most people do not understand what the site does. Thanks for starting this discussion I am sure a lot of people can talk about their feelings and such.

discussion can always be triggered by questioning and answering question, it really depends on what type of questions are asked. So I think the above sentence is right.

well i just started using mylot and i must say it a little bit very hard form me to fine correct article or information on a particular subject. it depend on what individual use mylot alot of people post question on mylot waiting for people to answer it. when answer this question it become a discussion. so i think people who said it a question and answer site are right and you also is right to said it a discussion site

If you post a discussion and others answer it, then to make it into a discussion you should comment on those responses. That is when you will then be earning for it because you do not earn for the responses that others post.

Who says myLot is only for earning? I am sure there will be countless users here who are seeking answers to their questions but will not bother if it earns them or not. myLot will not delete such topics unless they are poll type. And even poll type are allowed if they generate quality responses. This back and forth commenting is fine as long as users are online at the same time and I have noticed after one has put a comment someone else will butt in and there will be a detour and the one whose comment it is, when that user gets back, you know what happens - the user will not know what to do sometimes.
Also this is important. After the recent clarification that topics on seeking to know more about myLot are no more violations these become questions and the one who comes first answers them. And I wonder whether those who respond after the first one has already given the answer stand to gain anything. There is a flood of such topics these days which generate no discussions.
Notwithstanding all this it is a hit and miss method sometimes as I get notifications about deletions of topics that are concerned with seeking knowledge about myLot.

A lot of people tend to get a lot wrong, the Internet tends to be a fountain of misinformation a lot of times. I think that the person who put me onto myLot was like, "hey there's this site, if you participate, you can pretty much earn money." It was up to me, and really everyone else who might have seen that information to interpret that as they would and to find that out. Sadly, you need to be vague enough to make sure you don't lie but also specific where you can get some curiosity, but there are people who tend to not only be too specific, but also in the wrong way. Granted they are trying to entice people but people are not going to be pleased when they sign up for something that they are not. Thus you might not make as much money as you would think for your referrals.
A lot of people are unable to really work towards anything. I try not to think too much of the earning potential of myLot. Although to be honest, there are a few times where it does tend to crank in the back of the head. And often times, I might pull myself through a few posts to reach that payout. However, it is a discussion site, that you just happen to earn some money from. Really you are rewarded for the quality of your work. Its just like if you do a favor for someone in real life and you do a good job, you could earn some extra money. That is really a good way of describing myLot. A lot of people try a lot of misinformation out there and it gets passed on and if enough people believe it, then myLot is considered to be the villain.

Yes i saw that kind of reviews and articals too. But its not true. Mylot is surely not like other sites for just asking and answering one line questions. Its all about discussion. People are doing this stuff for getting referrals but because of that the new joiners are using mylot like that. Hope they read all the guidelines before starting mylot.

There's so many misconceptions about this site, and it sometimes does bother me. I mean, if you're going to write an article, at least make sure that you're including factual and accurate information. It really is very misleading, and it's articles like these that will cause many people to choose not to join this awesome website. I hate that so many people think this is a Q&A site. So many people think that you post a question, and a one-word reply is all you need. You earn by posting quality discussions to people. You do not earn by posting quality answers to people's questions! I wish more people could see the awesomeness of this site. There's such a caring and loving community here, and you earn some extra cash on the side while you're having fun doing it.

I guess people will just say anything when they are really desperate in getting referrals to join them. They actually should have stressed out that myLot is a discussion site and not a Q&A site. But there are still many users who doesn't know the ways on myLot yet like we do as I still see many who doesn't even respond to their own discussions.

I totally agree with you. Mylot is not a Q & A web page that is the site to discuss and exchange their knowledge about a certain topic

Hi Angelee,
No, it does not annoy me or even less.
I just came from that article you 're talking about and I think that what I have read from there was an added idea about mylot. If everyone thinks the article itself annoys, then why still exists? It should have been deleted.
Thanks
Dennis
