Yes ... and it's the second time cause I remember my Mom told me that I had it when I was small. Couldn't confirm it with her again as she has already gone to be with the Lord a few years back.
Gosh! And to imagine to be getting it at the age of 42. Why didn't I get it then when both my kids got it last year? Aaargh! I'm really suffering here! I just want it to go away soon ... very soon.
Any advice on fast healing? What to eat and what not to eat? Please share, anything would be good.

Oh, how terrible you must feel! I wouldn't like to be in your shoes. I remember how sad I was back in high school when I missed a party because I had Chicken Pox.
I suggest you to try to think positive and maybe it will go away faster.
For instance, see the full side of the glass: you can be in myLot more hours in a day because you must stay at home.

Wow, that was bad having to miss a party just because of chicken pox. Having chicken pox can really spoil many things for us as we are unable to do anything. It's just like being in prison, and eating the same food everyday.
Yea, I know that part of being in myLot more hours, haha! More $$$ is what I see now

Thanks, whateva. But my Mom couldn't be wrong when she told me that I had chicken pox before because her memory was already very good. Even so, then I should have got it when my 2 kids were having chicken pox last year, but I didn't get it then. Thanks, I will rest more as there is nothing much that I can do right now.

I thought chicken pox only comes one when we are a kid.I guess you are already aware of what to do and not to since you already tried it and your children as well. Don't eat food that will trigger the itch like chicken, egg, dried fish. And seek for a doctor's advice, maybe they have some pills for fast healing. :)

It can come back as shingles in adulthood.

Hmmm usually when you have it as an adult it is Shingles. The same virus causes shingles as does for chicken pox. We have the virus dormant in us when we had it as children. Hope you get over them soon.

First time i hear got second time chicken pox.
To heal chickenpox scar, healthy intake of Vitamin A and C and bioflavonoid is essential as they help in strengthening the immune system. Include zinc in diet to stimulate immune power, and consume magnesium and calcium supplement. Recommended juices for chickenpox patient can be prepared using raw fruits and vegetables of which lemon juice is the most beneficial as it brings down the body temperature. If chickenpox sores are seen in the mouth then foods which are soft and bland should be
consumed and spicy, acidic foods must be avoided.

Hi jlyn,
Eating watermelon could ease the pain and drinking herbal tea could lower the heat. You got fever? You can get the herbal tea at the chinese medicine shop. I never got any chicken pox yet, people said if I had none during my life time then I will get in when I am dying in the coffin. Just a belief...haha

Hi Choi Yee
Yes, I have fever and I have ulcers in my mouth, so you know how heaty I am. Well, let's just hope you don't get it while you're still alive cause it is really suffering especially when one is already an adult. Yea, I may have to go get some herbal tea for the heat. Thanks for the advice!

It looks like we are both sick together. I have never heard of anyone getting chicken pox more than once but I don't doubt it is possible. My son got the shingles when he was five. The doctor said that was rare, too. Because shingles usually happened to old people who had had chicken pox very severely. My son had a severe case of chicken pox when he was six months old. He and his two year old sister had it so bad that they had to sedate them to keep them from clawing themselves bloody.
Anyway, my grandmother was always careful to keep us inside out of the sun and in dim light because our eyes would be sensitive and would be permanently damaged by the light. I have never figured out if she was right or if that was an old wives tale, but I have never wanted to chance it so have always practiced the same thing when my kids had the pox or the measles.

Hi savak, thanks for the FR.
Why are you sick now? Yea, believe me, this is the first I am hearing about it myself. But after feedback from a few myLotters, now I am confirmed that it is possible to get it a second time.
Yes, I too heard that shingles only happen with old people. Your son is really too young to be getting it. How old is he now? I'm sure he's free from chicken pox and shingles now as I doubt they will attack him again, right?
Thanks for the advice but I still have to leave the house at least twice a day, one is to send my kids to school in the morning and another one is to fetch them back from school in the afternoon. But I will usually cover myself up even though I will just be in the car.
I've been told that we can't go out at night and can't let the rain touch the spots. I don't know much about this, but like you said ... an old wives tale that we still have to listen to.
Anyway, thank you for sharing your experiences with me. Will say a short prayer for you to get well soon. Have a pleasant day and take care.

I am not too sure about what not to eat or what to eat BUT I do know for sure, KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF YOUR CHICKEN POX ON YOUR FACE!!
I had it again when my son has it. I was about 30 at that time. I meddled with a chicken pox on my face and now it stayed as a scar after more than ten years. Everytime I look in the mirror, thats the first thing I see. It has the same colour as my skin but it is a little indented.
After ten years I have accepted it but I wished I hadnt poked at it that time.

Hi momof3kids
So, you had it twice like me. Indented as in a little hole ... that's really bad. I definitely will keep my hands off the chicken pox on my face. Funny thing is that, when my kids had it last year, I didn't get it at all, so I thought I was safe.
Anyway, thank you for the advice and for sharing your experience with me.

Hi Jlyn
I am sorry to hear you are not feeling well. I too had chicken pox twice but as a child. My son too had them twice as well when he was a child. I do remember how miserable we both were and not fun at all.
Do drink lots of fluids as I see you have some sores in your mouth and those are the toughest. Do know that the outbursts means it is coming out of your system and in 2 - 3 days you should see great improvements. If you are itching at all, Calamine lotion is the best as it dries up the sores and stops the itching.
Also because you are older now, best to refrain from scratching as the scars can be permanent. As opposed when we were kids where they did fade with time.
Get plenty of rest dear, chicken pox does drain you as it is part of the immune system and weakening usually comes as an after effect. Do take care and hope you are better soon.

Hi HWG
So, it is true that chicken pox can happen twice which of course is a very rare case. Sorry that you and your son had to suffer twice like me.
Yes, the sores in my mouth makes it hard for me to chew and swallow anything and the calamine lotion really does help.
Thanks for the well wishes. I just can't wait for it to end.

Drink lots of fluids especially juices, Vitamin C could help the rashes heals faster. Old ones do tell not to eat eggs but I don't know if its real. Where could you possibly got the virus? I had it when my daughters caught the virus in school and things was worst because my husband got it too at the same time. My in-laws have to deliver our meal because no one could take care of it for us. Two weeks after, my one year old daughter got it too but with only few rashes. I have 2-3 scars left in my face and was just glad that my daughters had it when they are younger. They will not face it at an older age where it could left a more serious scars. Just spend the rest of the days enjoying the comfort of your home.

Yup, no eggs and no chicken, that's what the old ones would say.
I think I got the virus from a VBS Camp, probably one of the kids already healed and started passing the virus over. It seems many who attended that camp also got chicken pox 2 weeks later.
It's good that everyone in your family had it all at the same time. Saves you the trouble of looking after one by one.
Both my kids had it at the same time last year but I didn't get it then. This is actually my second outbreak. I had it before when I was small. That's why I was a bit shocked when I saw the spots appearing as many said that chicken pox happens only once in a lifetime.
It would be easier to rest if we are feeling comfortable but with this itchiness, I doubt it. Thanks for the advice and for sharing your experience.

Sorry to hear that you are down with Chicken Pox. I have heard that a second outbreak may not be good news, so you should rest as much as possible. Check with the doctors if prickly heat powder is useful or not? Whatever it is, hang on, don't try to break the boils.
Take care. Hope to hear from you soon.

I never had the chicken pox even thought it is said that an average person has it once in their lifetime, even when i was younger. But my sister did. You are very unlucky to have it twice. So here's some tips. The key is to stop sratching your rash. Everytime you scratch it, it gets worse. If you can't stop scratching, apply calamine lotion on it. If you still can't control it, trim your fingernails. Also, eat a nutritious balance diet. If you haven't go see a doctor because it is very usual for adults to get the chicken pox

Hi!
Having chicken pox the second time around is indeed a rare case. I've heard of people getting it only when they are already old but not for the second time. I have actually three friends who had chicken pox this year and they are already adult. One had chicken pox last April, one last May and the other one just this month. The last one took antibacterial and anti-viral medicines. I don't know any fast healing medicines because chicken pox always stay for at least a week, two weeks the most. It never changes (at least with the cases I know of) whatever medicines you take.
Just don't forget not to scratch them even if it's very itchy so it won't leave any marks on your skin. And maybe don't eat foods that can causes allergy even if you don't have any allergies. Get well soon!

to your chicken pox! Just rest it out and eat foods that boosts your immune system. Also take good care of your skin as they may leave marks after. I know it is irritating but refrain from scratching. It was way back when I was a kid that I got them so I already forgot what treatment they used on me.
Get well soon!
