We woke up late and rushed through gathering the odds and ends for our trip. I thought I had everything. I get half way to Indiana, which is about three hours into the trip and my daughter asks me if I remembered the laptop charger. OMG...NO..I forgot it. Now I am here for three more days and about 2 hours left on my battary...Not good. I get up earlier than everyone else.
What would you do? Would you go get a charger?

Sorry to hear that! Maybe you can borrow one. Or, forget the computer and enjoy your visit.

Go for a nice walk, the early air is so fresh and the walk will do you good. Listen to the birds.

I probably wouold. If they have a store like the one I would use in TN I would probably go there. Could take it back when you get home if you don't need it.
Get a vacation, huh? Nice.

You act rude? Posh! I don't think you have a rude bone in your body. Enjoy! (I like a nice Spring rain but not that stuff that goes on forever.)

Yes..a little visit with the b/f's family. They are great people and he is very close to them. He doesn't get to see them as much as he would like so we try to at least come up once a year. It has rained the whole time and his mom is letting me use her laptop for a while...I didn't want to ask and seem rude..but she offered...lol.

I guess the problem is solved if you go home today, but I was thinking what I would do - probably see what books are available in the bookshelf and read something that interests me.
Maybe there is a good program on the radio? Some programs in TV can be good in the morning - at least here.
Why not do an exercise program or maybe walk outdoors if that is possible and the air is healthy.
Maybe we should take a break from the computer now and then and go back to what we did before the cyber age..

That's a very positive outlook..lol..I love to hear what you will come up with!
I actually did look through the bookshelf in the room I was staying in..lol..I didn't really find anything...a bunch of woodworking books...but I looked through them anyway..who knows...I might be able to build a birdhouse now!

Hi Jen! Long time no chat...LOL. I would definitely have to go out and purchase another charger. I have a difficult time not using my laptop and I would be going through withdrawls...lol. Maybe check a pawn shop or used computer store...then it would be too big of an expense.

Why hello there stranger! I hope you are well! I wish I knew my way around here a little better. I don't know where anything is...lol. I am also worried about seeming rude. It has been raining and the host has been kind enough to offer me hers for a bit...whoop whoop! She loves me...lol.

Well you aren't missing anything down in Tennessee...rain, rain and more rain. Hopefully the weather up there is far better than the weather down here!

I would probably see if I could find one to buy. I would buy it if it isn't too expensive. Good luck in finding one. I would write down your info of your laptop and ask a person at an electronics counter if they know what charger would work for your laptop. Sometimes even Walmart will surprise you on what they have replacements of on things like that and Radioshack.

I am a firm believer in that Ms. Tickle..lol. This time it has just proved to throw me off my body clock though...maybe that is for a reason too though I am sleeping in and staying up late now since my trip.
Thanks for the thought...I always love your thoughts.

I can only imagine you're home by now however, I have an idea for you. Let this be a learning lesson so you won't forget the next time you make a long trip. Make a traveling list of all the things you'll want to take on your trip. I have two for each of us, my husband and myself, one for summer and the other for winter. That way we'll never forget anything that we need. Hubby and I used to travel from Texas to Virginia with all of our animals on vacation and when we moved to Arkansas, it was from there to Virginia so I had to make a list to be sure that we got everything including a pet list too. It worked like a charm!

I still have those lists so I can send you a copy to show you how I did it and you can modify it to fit your needs if you'd like. It'll give you a good head start on making your own lists. Just let me know and we'll talk more on PM.
Yeah, long long long trips they were. From Texas it was a 25 hour trip that we did it straight through one time and found it to be too deg gone much on our minds and bodies so we stayed at a hotel/motel over night from then on. It was a challenge getting the gang inside too but we did it.
Then from Arkansas, it was about a 15 hour trip. Still, too long and hard on us but we made it too. lol Then get this sh!t, hubby's family expect US to come and visit THEM in which we did but we learned a hard lesson from that. No more no way! Because since we've moved to NC, and hubby's sister and her husband moved to VA from NY, the rest of the family comes down to see her but they can't spare to drive another hour and a half to come and see us. Yeah, what ever. It was a huge lesson we learned and we won't be so stupid again. No way.

I tell you what...family can do you dirtier than anyone sometimes. I know..lol.
I went to Texas once and I think it was 13 or 18 hours...it was a tough trip and I didn't even have a ton to haul back then. It's funny because I go to Texas and there is an ice storm..LOL..I was stuck there for two weeks over that storm. It was in the mid or late 90's I think..you might even remember it..I am thinking they don't happen very much there..at least not until I visit.

Wow...that is quite a trip you were making...I bet that list was a lifesaver. I am thinking I will be making myself one the next time too...lol.

hi JenInTn oh being a computer nut if I had a laptop which I do not and I had forgot it ,yes I would be scrounging around at computer shops trying to get a charger three days oh you must get a charger then you will always have a spare. My son keeps his in his back pack. luckily he has not lost it as with his cell phones he had a habit of taking the cell phone out in a cafe then walking off and forgetting it only to return later and someone had taken it. so now he also locks it up in his backpack too.Yes I predict you are going to find and buy a charger, right?

I've missed everyone very much and think I may have a ton of discussions to catch up on.

You are probably back from your trip by now. How did it go? Were you able to get the charger? How about the picture of the blue heron? I recently had to order a replacement charger for my laptop because mine stopped working. The one they sent me wasn't the same as mine was so it keeps coming unplugged, but at least it works even if I have to keep plugging it in. I always get my charger replacements through amazon because they are really cheap. I think I saw several responses where people mentioned having a backup and that would be the place to get one. Have a great weekend!!!

Darned bird! Maybe you will get him next time! As far as a back up charger, check out amazon.com. I have gotten them from there before (one for a friend and one for myself)and they were cheap if you can find the right one. I paid less than $20 including one day shipping! If you send it standard shipping it is probably only $10 or so. Have a great week!!!

It went pretty good..thanks. I didn't get the charger because when I went to the store, they were $79. I was being tight because of vacation money...lol. I do need a backup eventually though.
That darn Heron...I chased that thing all around the pond/lake! Never did get a good shot. Just as I was about to leave..he flew up in the top of this tree there and was sitting so pretty..would have been a great pic. I have tried to get him before too. I didn't think a bird that big could be so quick and sneaky.
Thanks for responding and take care.

That kind of sucks a little that you forgot the charger. I hate to leave things behind like that. But I would not be going to get it or another one. I would take the opportunity to take some time out from being on the computer and enjoying life away from the screen for a little. Make the most of this mistake and turn it into a positive thing.

Yes...I did have a nice trip without it. I usually just take it because I wake up so much earlier than everyone else there. I hate the idea of waking them up.
I didn't get another one..I just looked through some books that were in the room I was staying in..there was a bookshelf. It was still a good time.

I am an early riser too, so that is when I get on here mostly. Before everyone else wakes up and I have to start my work day. When I am away I normally have a break from screens and go for an early morning walk or something similar before everyone else gets up. Reading is always good too!

You have not said why you will be in Indiana and that too for three days. Probably you will be there on a holiday and if so I am glad you left your charger behind as your laptop would have been a hindrance to your having quality time with your family.

hi dear Jen you well bet I would get me a charger if I am away from home for three days and would not have any internet access when the laptop battery is used up. I would rather but a second charger than sit there idle.

I went to check on another charger yesterday and they are $79! I thought well..I guess I am offline for a while. It has been raining and I have been stuck in and guess what my b/f's mom pulled out of the closet....a brand new mac laptop! She is letting me use it to "check it out"..lol...I can be on a few minutes anyway.
Yes..next time there will be a definite packing list going on.
Thanks for the advice!

Just forgot an idea, when you get home again it would be useful to make a packing list. I have one and its been changed so many times over the years I use it, but I wont pack up anything without it no matter whether its two days or weeks I would be absent from home. I dont take my laptop with me but I take the mobile phone with me and the charger is on the list too.

If it's just a few days, I'd do without the laptop charger. If there is WIFi, you can still get connected with your cellphone (I hope you did not forget the cellphone charger too!). I think you will enjoy a couple of days without the internet.
If the trip is for work, I'd get a charger immediately. If it's a leisure trip, I will not get a charger.

The charger was pretty expensive so I didn't get it. I did bring my cellphone charger but to be honest..I hate my phone browser..I don't even try to connect half the time with it. It is frustrating..lol..I guess I am spoiled.
Thanks for responding...oh..the host let me borrow hers for a bit.

hi jen.
that kinda $ucks. imagine three days without the laptop. anyway, if i was in your place i would definitely get a charger but i wouldn't drive back from indiana. instead, i'll try to purchase a new charger similar to the old one. i know it would entail extra cost but at least when i get back home, i'll have an extra unit of laptop charger.
that's just me though.
anyway, if you do go missing in action here in mylot in the next three days, we all know the reason behind it and there won't be any conspiracy theories about your 'mylot disapperance'. lol!
do stay safe in indy!

well, good for you that you'll be back home. you probably are home already once you've read this. read through the discussion and saw that the mother of your boyfriend let you use a new laptop. that was a really nice gesture.
glad that you're back in mylot again.
cheers!!!

Heyya allen! Yes..MIA..that be me. I haven't been gone from the Lot this long since I've started here. I have missed it. It wouldn't be so bad but it has rained a ton here.

Hi JenInTn, if you can't borrow one from someone I guess you will just have to be without a computer for the rest of the trip. I hate when that happens to me. I have made it a point to open my suit cases or whatever I am packing in, lay them aside and whenever I think of something that I will need for the trip, toss them in the suitcase them. I have a short memory span. I hope you can find some way to charge your computer. Have a blessed trip and a blessed day.

Hi Chevee!
Yes, it happens to everyone. I have experience it and luckily it was just for a day. It will be worst if we need it to finish the works. it is hard to find suitable charger to fit to the particular laptop. To find a back up charger for laptop is quite hard than find a charger for a cellphone.

Hi Jen!
If you think that you can go without your laptop for three days then I think you should not have to search and looking for back up. If you think that you will suffer, you can't do your work and really need your laptop then don't wait for that three day to be ended and look for it now! Hope you can get back with a back up charger and get here soon.

Heyya CTHanum! The only reason I bring it is because I wake up so early..there is nothing pressing except that I miss my friends here too. I wake up three or four hours before everyone else so the laptop is nice to have...lol.
Thanks for the response and I'm going home today....those chargers were $79 at the store....I'm gonna wait.
