In your entire life, did you already feel the true meaning of happiness?

In my entire life, I can really count on thru my fingers (both hands and feet) the times that I really felt the happiness. That, every single day I feel happy, there will be a counterpart. Meaning, for every single happiness that I experienced, a double heartache and sadness that I will encounter. And that situation is always bothering me. Why like this? Am I not entitled to really feel happy? Wherein, I can say, I almost give all to my family. That, I always do consider their feeling before I will do a move and decision. That, I wil consider their welfare first before mine. I really dont know why my life is like this. How I wish, I can feel the true meaning of happiness soon. And since, I am already old, how I wish I can feel that as early as possible.

The true meaning of happiness, hmmm... I've been happy before, I can say that. The happiness that you know is sincere to the bottom of your heart. I guess it depends on every individual on how they understand the true meaning of it. For me, it's when you love with all your heart and you know that you're sincere with it, I think it returns to you with love and happiness. That's how I understand it.

I used to think of my life as a series of disasters until I realised that they were in fact a series of lessons, some good and others bad, but hey, that's life! If we learn from the things that made us unhappy then we have a clearer vision of those that will make us happy! Then we must act on them. So don't go around with a bag on your head and make yourself feel glum. Be grateful for everything you got from God, Dad and Mum!

That is true, I agree with you on this one. Cherishing everything that God has provided you is one attitude everyone seems to be forgetting nowadays. There are people who seems to have a lot in life and yet they're not contented with it. They want more and don't know that a lot of peoplem envy them. As for life experiences, it's also true that we should be positive with them and learn instead of dwell in hatred, hurt, shame, every negativity, you name it. We should learn from these experiences instead because they're given to us by God.

I don't think I've ever been actually happy yet. but then again, I'm relatively young. I don't know what happiness is. I thought I did. I thought that what I've been having for so long, what was so familiar, what was so normal, was happiness, but I've realized that there's something beyond that. There's something beyond what you're familiar with. Beyond routine. Beyond normalcy. And once you step out of that container that holds you in, you realize what happiness is. You realize that what you've been having for so long isn't what's best. It may seem like it because it's the closest thing to happiness you've probably ever felt, but it probably isn't the best. I know I've been kept from what I want. I know that I need to find something. You only get one life to live, so why not find that happiness. Find that true thing that makes you happy. Don't be afraid to seek the unfamiliar. When you're older, you'd probably rather say "Oh wells" than "What ifs". I realize I probably sound kind of stupid right now, and I probably don't make any sense here, but I'm kind of venting so sorry.

Happiness is truly a choice, a state of being. When you have lived through great heartache and you reach the other side to be happy, you can choose to be happy regardless... you may even feel great joy. Sometimes I feel such joy that I cannot contain it all.. when I think about the love I feel for my family, I live in pure joy... when I think of what they mean to me, it brings tears of joy to my eyes. When I remember the day my daughter was born, that was pure joy... she has been a source of happiness for the rest of my life. When I think of God loving me enough to reconcile me to Him for eternity, how can I be anything but happy? I can look around at all the suffering in the world, and how people cause their own suffering much of the time, it makes me happy that I don't dwell on things that might steal my happiness away.

My life is full of many turns as well. I cannot even count anymore the times when I feel so down, i am not a very expressive person so most of the time you will not see a trace of unhappiness. God has given me so much grace to see beyond the darkness always. He always gives me strength and reminds me always that after the darkness is the light. I don't know what my life would be if not for the graces i received from God each day. Happiness depends on how you define it. I feel happy when i play with my cat, whenever i am able to spend breakfast and dinner time with my brother, I am happy whenever I see my bestfriend, I am happy to see old couples going to church together. Those little everyday things that sometimes we fail to take notice because we are so busy with our own hurts.

If anything upset me that would linger for days but now I am able to move on. For me this is happiness. I am able to understand that it is not how much one has but what one makes of what one has is the true root to happiness.

I get joy in rearranging things in the house. I just picked up a rack to put items that I use daily which used to be in cupboards. It is easier now which saves my time and energy - when translated the meaning would be happiness!

To you allknowing, I do also rearrange some things inside the room that I occupy just to relieve the sadness but after that, the sadness feeling will comeback again.

@air- You should know one thing and that is every one has problems but you do see happy faces around you. They like me, move on. If you live with sadness, sadness will trouble you. Just leave it behind. How about some meditation?

Real happiness is when you feel contented with your life. That even though there are ups and downs, you're happily standing beside the people you love. I think I'm too young to give the exact definition of happiness, hahah, but for now my definition of real happiness would be the one I've said at the first paragraph.

We all have different meanings of happiness. That counterpart of your happiness makes you stronger to face them. Making your family happy and loving them unconditionally will makes you happy one day. Are you not happy when you see your family happy with what you give or do to them. The smile on their face and showing how happy they are because of you. Sometimes we don't admit it to ourselves that seeing how happy our family because of us makes us happy too all the time. Try to remember your happy thoughts whenever you feel sad and lonely.
