"Il bel far niente" (the beauty of doing nothing)- This Italian phrase catches my attention and makes me think if there's really beauty in doing nothing? I haven't read the book "Eat, Pray, Love" yet but reading this phrase alone makes me ponder...hmmm.. yes I think so, if it's just like listening in the music while lying in bed, appreciating the scenery while waiting for something, you will not get tired but somehow can recharge your spirit...etc..well that's how I understand it now. What do you think, how do you understand it?

I guess it means that in this busy world where everyone seems to be rushing to somewhere all the time, we need to stop and reflect and just enjoy a few moments of silence, realization and just BE. No need to think or worry about anything but just enjoy the pleasures of just barely looking at the night sky, smelling the sweet fresh air and just beholding the beauty that surrounds us. Sometimes,, without even realizing it, we find something beautiful in just merely sitting or lying. I think that's what it means.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, I also agree with you...lots of things surrounded us, we will never know what possible magic it might bring and charm we may encounter by just staring at something and doing nothing...^_^

Wow!- that's interesting to know that the book is great, so meditation is the word! Do you have any suggestion where to find a copy in the net? Thanks a lot! ^_^

Yes sometimes we feel like doing nothing we just want to relax and do nothing and specially after a tiring week.Doing nothing is the best thing and just relaxing on the bed and having our food is the best thing.

I agree! There are times in life that we really need to stop for a while but doesn't mean we're are so lazy...we always need to recharge our spirit to keep our sanity sane..^_^! That's one of the beauty of doing nothing I guess...
