asparagus is said to cure cancer. My sister asked me to buy this here in manila but i had been looking for it in sm and landmark supermarkets and groceries but i haven't seen any. Now, I am going home to Mindanao on tuesday and i have to bring some for my sister. I brought this matter for discussion here hoping that other mylotters know where to find this.

There is no 'cure' for cancer. Asparagus, like most green vegetables, contains antioxidants but it is NOT a 'miracle cure' or anything like it. You will find that, from time to time, such 'miracle cures' get into the news, generally where the food in question is in short supply. Believe me, eating a good, balanced diet with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables (preferably grown locally and on properly managed farms) is as good for you as seeking out and paying excessive prices for exotic things which happen to be in the news.

Antioxidants are mainly useful in helping DNA to repair itself. In general, however, they are a good thing. Don't waste your time and money, however, on rare and exotic vegetables when the vegetables and fruit which are native to your own country are easily as good! I had chemo last year (though I only survived half of the course). It took me two or three months to recover to a point where I was well enough for surgery. It's a slow process but can be helped by drinking plenty of liquids (red fruit juice, especially) and, of course, by a healthy, balanced diet to replace the minerals, vitamins and other reserves lost. Green vegetables (especially very lightly cooked or raw) and fruit are very important.

Cancer treatment these days is very good and, provided the cancer is detected early enough, there is a very good chance of a 'cure' (or, as I'd prefer to say, 'indefinite remission'!)

Hi my friend, I cannot inform you on where to buy asparagus in the Philippines, perhaps ask around in your local supermarket, but I can offer you two simple recipes that could make asparagus really delicious. Recipe 1, preheat your grill or pan, to high. Toss your asparagus into olive oil, add salt and pepper to taste, then toss it into the pan. Leave on grill or pan for about 2-3 minutes or until asparagus is tender. Recipe 2, preheat grill or pan, this time add butter into the pan, once melted add the asparagus, then again add salt and pepper to taste. Add some extra butter, then leave 2-3 minutes until nice and tender. Also you may add pecan nuts to this recipe just before taking the asparagus out of the heat, add the nuts maybe for about 1 minute to heat the nuts and this may add crunch to the nuts also Enjoy, hopefully your sister gets better soon.

thanks for the recipes and for hoping that my sister will get better soon. Yes, she's ok at this time, she has just finished her chemo sessions and will soon be scheduled for evaluation and thereafter future medical check up.

While vegetables like asparagus, broccoli and many others are good for you and may provide vitamins and minerals in a form that is more useful than supplements and may reduce the risk for getting such things as cancer to some degree if ones diet does not include a lot of bad things, it is not likely that they will cure cancer that is already present. So it is good to eat them but probably not worth going to great extremes to get one of them if others are available that have similar benefits. Sorry I have no clue on where to find asparagus in your area since I live in the U.S.

it's alright at least i know that there are still other source of vitamins and minerals that may reduce getting cancer like broccoli. I also guess that there are no available asparagus due to the recent storm falcon that passed the philippines. Anyway i still have today to find some.

It may help prevent some cancers, maybe, but I don't think it really cures it. It is very good for you though and it tastes delicious. I hope you are able to find it. It is available at pretty much every market around here.

i havnt heard that asparagus is useful for cancer although i am a medicinal plant biologist. asparagus is use to cure many disease but please make sure for the use in cancer. besides asparagus you should use wheat grass juice for cure of cancer. it has been used by many of my known cancer patients and family members. just buy wheat seed and grow it in some pots at your home. within 6-8 days it will grow sufficient to take off. cut the plant just one centimeter above the ground leaving the base intact in soil. make juice by grinding it in a food processor / mixer grinder adding a little water and filter it and give to the patient daily. it will definitely hepl in cancer, my father-in-laws use to take it and now he had out of cancer

pahak, if you still want aspergues. In holland they are exported. I know there are some companies that also send them by mail. So if you cant find them you could also look into this. And as for the cancer, dont think it is a cure but it sure tastes good!
