I can't get used to form-fitting clothes

I know that form-fitting clothes are the norm nowadays, well, for a few years now, but I just hate how they look on people. Well, skinny people it's flattering as long as they cover their chest, but on us plus-sized women, it doesn't look good seeing all those fat rolls. I grew up in the 1980's and if a person was big, they wore loose clothing to hide their fat, and that's what I do right to this day.
I'm not putting anyone down, honest, but I just don't like people to see my fat jiggling as I walk, or looking at my big butt jiggling in form-fitting pants, either. I usually wear a t-shirt that covers my butt anyway LOL.
*sigh* I miss those high-waisted jeans and loose tops that were so readily available when I was growing up.

I usually wear jeans and loose fitting shirts. I do have more form fitting clothing for dressing up more, but I really prefer looser fitting clothes. I never like to feel as if I am confined in my clothing. I also never wear anything tight or anything too close to my neck. I guess I just like to feel comfortable as much as possible.

I am not too much into jeans, and they never seem to fit me right. They come up to my waist, but they try to fall down. I like leggings, under long, long tops or short dresses. I do tend to wear low cut necks, because I cannot breathe if they are too tight and high on my neck. I think that will change though as I lose weight, at least it has in the past. I am wanting to make some of my clothes again, like I used to, then they fit well and are comfortable and flattering as well.

I mainly wear just grubby clothes now, since all I used to wear at home was loose, baggy clothing that I can romp around in comfortably, and now that's all that fit me, and with my income I certainly don't feel like forking out money for a new wardrobe, so I'm also aiming to fit back into my old wardrobe that I had 2 years ago, and I got really nice clothes there. My Monavie/TEAM sponsor made me purchase nice clothes to go to the meetings and such, and so I did, and I want to fit back in them. They're also flattering on me. :-)

That is a good goal. Something concrete to do. When I needed new clothes for a work setting last month I went to the thrift shop and spent fifteen dollars and got three or four complete outfits. I know though that there are times when fifteen dollars is more than we can afford to spend.

Knit fabrics too show every bulge and crease. But they are so comfy!! I dress for comfort these days The trouble is, I'm not comfortable with everyone seeing my big bits! My problem is my height...trousers are not long enough so I look silly and t-shirts and other tops are too short...everything seems ultra short this year as if everyone is an average height and wants to wear crop tops.

I used to make all my own clothes but it's hard. Quite often I would choose a pattern I liked but then it wouldn't suit me.
Fabric and patterns are extremely expensive too. I recently made a couple of pairs of trousers. They turned out nice. I have some curtains to make and a few more clothes but I can't tear myself away from the computer...lol

Hi Masihi! I like wearing from-fitting clothes but I choose the fabric such that it doesn't show off my body fats.
I agree that some people can pull-off form-fitting clothes and some can not, because it greatly depends on the figure and the type of fabric. There are some plus-sized women who look great on form-fitting clothes and there are some petite ones who doesn't. I've read in a fashion magazine and internet before that wearing loose clothes would only make the plus-sized women look larger and that they should wear clothes that would flatter their size and make them slimmer.
Fabric also greatly affects on how we look on clothes. Stretchy ones are a no-no for plus-sized women coz it will only emphasize their body fats. Colors can affect too. Dark colors can make women look slimmer.

I mainly wear cottons as they're easier to breathe through, and nothing stretchy. I'm plus-sized myself and I take pains to wear clothes that cover my fat rolls. I have seen nice tops on other plus-sized women but looked just awful because it was such a lovely top but then there was this big bulge where her stomach was, ugh! It really stuck out because her jeans was so low as well.
I think anything stretchy should be limited to just exercise clothing on anyone, really.

I do have a few form fitting but none of them are tight. Though I also wear loose fitting clothes also as it depends on the occasions and or how I feel. Though I am small I do not wear stretch pants without a long short either as I don't like the shaping even though I am small.

You skinny people can wear form-fitting clothing and still look really nice, as long as it's modest, I envy you guys! :-D

No my friend you are doing so great as you are on your way to a healthier lifestyle. Who cares what others think what one looks like, you are happy with the changes you are making and are a wonderful mother to your kids therefore, am sure you have great taste and are very conservative. That really what it is about, we all can be conservative and trendy as long as we remember to be happy.

Hi Mashihi!
I like loose fitting clothes myself because they're more comfortable. Now everyone is wearing a size too small. I guess that is the modern trend to wear tight clothes which interfere with your mobility. I don't think tight fitting clothes is attractive on all women. Only certain women can pull it off. It can even be unflattering on some skinny women. Women didn't wear a lot of jeans and tight shirts when I was growing up. Most women wore dresses and were generally skinny. Only a few women were fat. I don't know why people are letting themselves go so badly. Clothes trends change over the years. I'm quite sure it will change back because trends usually do and then the fashion designers claim it is "fresh" and "new" when it was just the "in trend" a few years ago. lol

I certainly do hope the older styles will come back, in fact they are more comfortable and more flattering on a person. They have a nice, proper and tidy look to them, too. I have a few high-rise pairs of jeans but now they're small but I'll probably be able to fit into them in the fall, though, and I hold on to them for dear life. I think they also add support around the waistline as well, like stomach and back support.
I may sound offensive here, but although I don't mind seeing another heavy person around, but I really don't want to see fat rolls under their tight clothing, it's just disgusting. (I can say this because I'm fat and have the fat rolls myself and I won't wear a tight shirt at all.)

Well, I certainly don't want guys gawking at me or anything. People nowadays will openly look at you lustfully, never mind if you're married or not :-(
