Have you watched the movie yet?
In my opinion, don't watch the movie expecting too much from it. If you are up for something light, just-for-fun kind of thing, or if you're an avid fan of Ryan Reynolds and don't care whether green is his color or not, then go buy a ticket.
I didn't find the movie horrible. Just a bit shallow, with somewhat pathetic script, and has a very comicky effect to it!
It's like looking at a comic strip springing into life.
But hey, I didn't say I didn't enjoy the film.
To be honest, I think I have a secret desire for Reynolds.

I never watch this movie yet and I don't know whether I want to watch it or not. but the think that make this movie interesting are the actors. Reynolds and Blake lively are sweet together and I really loves Reynolds.

Oh you'll love these two people. You just couldn't help but fall in love with Ryan Reynolds especially during one scene when he carried Blake in his arms after he rescued her.
He is a great actor, no doubt.

I have watched this movie yesterday and i found out that this is one of the Best Movie of the Year i have ever watched. The effects was good. The characters had a significant rule but counts only in your fingers. There was a part of the movie that i've touch when Green Lantern gave his girlfriend a necklace for her bithday. The scene was extraordinary. I've never seen a movie like this before. Let us see what are the incoming movies of the year will give a BIG IMPACT to everyone. God Bless

I'm glad you liked it rhejans.
I did kind of like it. If only it was not preceded by Xmen: First Class which I liked better then I would have found Green Lantern to be the best sci-fi/superhero movie of the year.
I am also looking forward to Thor although I do not know this character.

Wait... people actually read Green lantern comic books? Is Hollywood scraping the bottom of the comic industry trash bin to find movie ideas? Seriously Green Lantern comic books were never a very popular. I'm not surprised Green Lantern was rubbish considering how bad Iron Man 2 was. All comic book movies have watered down scripts and rely heavily on special effects to keep the audiences attention.

Actually, Green Lantern is not as unheard of as you believe. If you can read response number 1, here's someone who knows about Green Lantern like he's a walking and talking Superhero encyclopedia which is really amazing, by the way.
Superhero movies like these may look a bit silly but we need some break from very serious movies once in a while, don't we?
I still would think GI Joe was much more of a rubbish than GL, No offense to the fans!

green lantern is one of the best movies for 2011.
ryan reynolds was just right for the character. in the comics, hal jordan was a bit more serious but not grim like batman.
he had a sense of humor just like ryan reynolds.
the effects were awesome.
the script wasn't as good as i expected, nonetheless, just like all other comic book movies, it was cut here and there just to make the movie possible. so characters were introduced that weren't really part of the comics and vice versa.
sinestro was really good. and some of his angles were reminiscent of the comics.
kilowog was just how i expected him. tomar re was kinda like a wizened adviser, in the comics he isn't really. he is a pacifist but does not really go around preaching it.
i would've wanted to see katma tui, arisia, ch'p g'nort.
i saw salakk, one of the best green lanterns.
i hope that the sequel will feature john stewart, guy gardner, kyle rayner and other green lanterns i like reading about.

Wow, you really are into this stuff, huh?
Okay, maybe the reason why the movie didn't appeal that much to me as I had expected is because I had just recovered from the impact of Xmen: First Class on me.
The differences in the way the two movies were presented probably created a certain contrast and I was not ready for such variation.
But now I am seeing it differently, realizing at the same time that since I have not really read the comics, I have nothing to compare it to.

I guess I was looking at Superman too much I had neglected the possibility of another superhero rising to fame.
Oh don't apologize for knowing a lot!

Chances are, you will love the film. Reynolds and Lively had great chemistry in contrary to what some movie critics had written, the effects were great except for some obvious CG effects, and the sense of humor.
But honestly, the only drawback was that it was a bit too "comicky".
Green Lantern guarantees a light and sit-back-and-enjoy kind of entertainment. It wasn't too bad. Just not too great either.
But I tell you, you'll enjoy it.

I never said it was bad. I really kinda liked it if truth be told.
It's just that the movie was not as flawless as I imagined it.

I do not approve of comics and its movie looking like identical twins. Not only is it impossible, it is also against the essence of adaptation where movie makers have a certain amount of freedom to modify some aspects to make it more appealing on screen.
GL was not so bad. But I wouldn't say it's phenomenal, or legendary. It just didn't have that effect on me.
It was fun though, and funny. Some effects were okay but I can't help but notice the actors playing infront of a fake backdrop. You know? That green wall offscreen which is then replaced with an image or a background for it to look real. It was very obvious in the movie even trhough those annoying 3d glasses.

I have not watch the movie but it is good to hear about it. I just hope that such a movie still have a positive impact on society. I like movie that teaches the children good moral behaviour.

I can assure you that the movie is very much safe for kids to watch.
It also capitalizes on facing one's fear instead of avoiding it. Bring your kids along when you watch, okay? They will enjoy it. It's colorful and the story is simple to comprehend.

Huh, "A bit shallow, with a pathetic script and comickyeffects." Yeah, that would sum up some of my complaint nicely.... I didn't like the costume, pacing, and bluntness and simple nature of Hal's fear. And the climax was duller than I expected.
