I really think dogs are smart. I have a dog named Choco. He stays in the garage but at times we let him enter the house. Usually during television time at night. Eversince we let him in during 8:00 pm, he knows that it is time for him to come in. When the clock strikes 8:00 he is immediately at the door and when its time to go out, he proceeds to the door as well. How about your dog? What does he do that makes you think he is smart?

my dog has a little stuffed goose that she loves to carry around and like after only about one or two days she learned the word "goose". Whenever we look at her and sa the word "goose" she runs around the house and looks for it and that was only in one or two das!!!

Smart dog right there. It is really nice to have a pet. It relieves the stress, pressure and tiredness we have from work or anything that we're thinking of.

If people think that dogs aren't smart animals then they are very wrong indeed, and most likely don't have a clue what they're talking about. People can train dogs to do anything, and the dogs will remember whatever tricks they're taught for the rest of their lives. If you think about a guide dog for example, there is nothing "special" about these dogs other than the way they're trained, which shows that all dogs have amazing potential. If guide dogs did not exist, then people's lives would be a lot harder if they were unable to see.

Yes, I agree with you. But training dogs really require a lot of patience. But it is fulfilling after you see the developments and what your dog can really do.

My little one is smarter! Come 9 p.m. she will be up where I would be nudging my elbow to close the pc and go to bed with her. I give in. When you love your pet this is what happens.

Hello there,
I agree with you, I've seen and read amazing stories about dogs. Specially when it comes to loyalty to their owner which only proves that "dog is man's best friend". We have a dog and I think she's smart, she calls our attention when she wants to poop or pee and sometimes I think she's trying to talk to us because she growls back when we talk to her.

Hi whengcat,
Wow. That's cute. I have always imagined how it is if they can really talk. Of course it will be really fun to talk to your pet right. Just like in the animated movie "UP". Have you seen it? It's really cool and I hope I can have that little gadget they placed around the dogs neck where in their bark is translated to words, something like that. Just go check the movie its a good watch.

well yeah I think I could agree with you on that, to some extent. See, my dog, Hershey, we kind of taught her how to fetch using our outdoor slippers. There was this one time when I used my havaianas flipflops for her to fetch, and then when she picked it up she went away from me and hid under the car! Smart dog to steal a havaianas from me. :))

I think some dogs are really intelligent, but some aren't. Just like humans, LOL.
Some dogs can turn out lights, fetch something you need, open cabinets, etc... while others will just sit there and stare. ;)

Haha Yes, i think so too. But I am lucky enough that my dogs are smart. Even my dogs in the past. I had several though and each has a unique characteristic. My puppy named Mootie, well she is like a 24/7 bodyguard. In the middle of the night when my Mom will pee, alas she is already there at the restroom waiting for my Mom :)
