This is kinda hard to answer. My mom would normally hate it every time any of us would linger in the kitchen while she cooks. I'd be talking to her randomly about stuff while my brother and sister would just go around and taste whatever she's got going on the kitchen...But we all ended up learning how to cook anyway.
I think she taught me the basic stuff like what the abbreviations mean in a recipe and what sifting is and how to work the mixer. Then she left me alone to bake cakes and cook pasta.
I love cooking! It's so relaxing. I love the thought of eating what you yourself made because it's more gratifying and you enjoy your food more.

Hi redmaryjane,
Thanks for responding!
I also enjoy cooking, although I do not find it very relaxing, haha! It's a bit tiring to me. However, I do very much enjoy eating my own food that I worked hard to make all by myself, and It makes me feel really good about myself. Especially when it turns out good!
Also, I love cooking for other people, and seeing them enjoy it as well! ;)

I enjoy cooking too as long as people will eat. I've had some flops though that were terrible. That was no fun. I scorched potato soup once and that was bad. Don't ever add the milk while you are still cooking it. Wait until the end and then just heat it up until it comes back up to temperature again.

I learned to cook At school and at home. My mom and dad both cooked so I learned to cook from them. I also took home economics in school so I learned there also. My dad was also a talented baker. He taught me to make pies and cakes and other neat stuff.

Because my mom taught me. It's like a requirement
in our house to have a division of labor that's why
I had to learn how to cook because I was assigned in cooking.

I learned the basics from my mother, too. As the eldest daughter, I'm the one she often calls to help her in the kitchen. But, at that time, I didn't really give it much importance. I only mastered frying and cooking rice. I learned to cook real food just recently. When I got married, we had someone else do the cooking for us, because both me and my husband were working. But, when I stopped, and decided to be a stay-at-home mom, I found the urge to learn more recipes. My mother provided me with a booklet of her recipes and I was surprised to see fast improvements in my cooking skills. And, my husband just loves it.

Hi Angelee_27, I also grew up watching my mother cook. We are a family who loves to cook. Our line of business is in the food industry and it has been passed from generations to generations. So I must say that it is my mother and grandmothers who are responsible for my knowledge in cooking.
Yes I love to cook. I love it so much I can do it everyday especially if I am working on a new recipe or if I am cooking for my loved ones. Cooking gives me a different kind of feeling, a sense of accomplishment. Cooking relaxes me after a long day of work.

I love delicious food but I couldn't cook before.Everytime I went to the kitchen to see Mum cook she would let me go.Why? She is the kind of woman enjoying doing thigns alone and she thought I am clumsy. This make me hate her a little. But after I worked faraway, I had to learn to cook for myself. At first I cooked on a few memories kept from her, but later I found all meals she cooked are too simple and couldn't satisfy my stomach.I bought a recipe and cooked acrroding to the instructions. Now I am able to cook some food with good smell. But my cooking skill still need improving much as I can't do complicated dishes.

Hi Angelee!
I learned from my mom as well. she teach me the basic even if not formal as I just watched her when I was a small kid. When I was teenager I seldom help her at the kitchen so still with the only basic skill in my head. Only then I get to college I learned how to cook better and I would say that with any recipes given to me I can cook well nowadays. With the basic skills just follow the recipes, experimented with it and get the result of delicious dish! Yes, now I prefer baking because I love cakes so much!!!(^^)

It just suddenly came to me that I decided to learn more on cooking the moment I thought how important it is for me to learn to cook so I could give my family different kinds of food. I have a good mentor anyway. My mother worked for Shangrila hotel as a cook and thought it would be a waste if I can't learn what she has learned. So now I am slowly adding recipes after recipe. She is an expert in pastries. I love baking more.

I learnt cooking from my mother. My dad cooks too but he had to work to support the family so usually my mom did all the cooking. She would insist that I help her prepare some ingredients and when she started the cooking of a dish, she would tell me to look and then she'd tell me the things I had to do. I'm glad I can cook well and it's mostly because of my mom. I can't say I like to cook everyday but cooking can be fun. I also like to try foods in restaurants as well.

I love to cook! I learned how to cook from, actually both of my parents, but mostly my father. Before when I was a kid, we too used to watch our mother cook and sometimes help in the kitchen. When she went abroad to work, my father did all the cooking. He cooks very well. Then, as I was growing up, I began to volunteer cooking our dinner. I would ask my father what he was planning to cook for dinner and then I would volunteer to do the work and just asked him to supervise me. Later on, I began to do all the cooking during special events like birthdays, Christmas, etc. Even after I got married, I was in charge of the cooking. But now my husband does it because I got busy with our newborn baby :) But every now and then, I volunteer to cook especially that I watch many cooking shows in YouTube and wanted to try out a new recipe :)

My family loves to eat. I think the kitchen is the busiest part of our house. My Mom is a good cook and also my dad. I always watch my parents cook so for that alone i get some of my knowledge on how to cook. My boyfriend also knows how to cook so i am pressured to know how to cook and enhance my cooking. He also suggested to watch cooking demos on you tube. I learned so much information about cooking there. Try it. just type what food you want to cook then they will have many videos to follow.. :)
