Ouch! That was my reaction after checking my email.
I just got this notification from Mylot saying that my answer to a question/discussion was deleted because the question it was under was deleted.
I won't say anymore which discussion it is because I respect my fellow mylotters. But ouch! I finally know how it feels. I keep reading from other members that you feel a tinge of pain once you find out that your discussion has been deleted or your response/ comment was taken off. It's like a part of you was cut-off. I guess it's because (well, if you are like me that is) I make the special effort to post quality responses and comments. Why do I do that? Because I would also like to be given and rewarded with quality responses/ comments to every discussion I may start.
Now I wonder, if I'm feeling down...what more the mylotter whose discussion/ question was deleted. The agony he must be feeling! :(
Who else here has experienced this? If you have time, maybe tell us how you felt upon learning your discussion/ response/ comment was deleted.

Hi miadsoriano!
I know how it feels, i experienced such thing, too, but i didn't get too affected because at that time i was still in my ranked 20+ something. I know how much time you give away for a discussion to post, I noticed that you are posting quality responses, and mylot should give you credits for that.
Anyway, don't feel bad and continue mylotting, who knows there will be some good news coming to you soon. Smile and have a nice day!

Aaawww...thanks for the reassurance and for the nice things you wrote. I really try to go the extra mile to post quality responses. So for someone to say so...it just brightened up my day!
I will definitely carry-on mylotting. It's still better than just simply sulking and getting discouraged. Godspeed!

Hahaha! But you know what? I couldn't agree with you more on that statement. Mylotting is indeed a lot better than FB-ing or tweeting so it seems. For one, it pays to mylot. Secondly, the community here is more active. Thirdly...more helpful even!

mylot friends why do you not just read the guidelines and rules of discussions so you know what you can and c annot do in discussions
and also so you can bypass a discussion that you see has broken a rule. its not time consuming and its helped me to avoid getting stuff deleted too. then you wont be feeling all blue inside. do
read them please? with cream and sugar on them? hugs from hatley.

You just can't explain the feeling you have after finding out right? It's not even your own discussion but you feel bad still because you took the time and effort to compose a decent and relevant response. You've invested in it, in a way. I really do not want to over-dramatize it, but that's how I felt. I'm just being factual (or is it emotional? never mind that!). I hope to be able to reach that level when I will not get so bothered by it anymore.

Again, thanks for the reminder. But then again, the thing about reading the guidelines and rules have already been thoroughly discussed too in this thread. No use saying it over and over again. Besides, this discussion has been posted way back last month or so. I and I guess others who have experienced this have ALREADY learned from our mistakes. But thanks. I know you are only offering your help.

Yes it was disappointing the first time I saw one too. But what it actually means is that the discussion itself was a violation, not your response therefore, if the discussion gets deleted so do the responses.
Only way to avoid it is to learn the guidelines so that you are sure you are responding to discussions which do not violate the guidelines. Polls are common to be deleted and anything that asks which you do you like this or that. Things like.
The links I gave you early on does explain it.
Sometimes the polls get a bit tricky. What I did early in my membership is that I would open the guidelines in one tab and the email notification in the other and then it made a lot of sense to me.

That sad feeling will always happen no matter how long we are here. I remember early on in my membership one of my own discussions was deleted. I felt sad as it had 38 responses and I was very active with it.
I felt as you, more so for the responders as it was a very good discussion. It fell in the gray areas as a milestone, though today with the new admin it is acceptable. I did get over it but do remember how sad it made me feel.

Thanks my friend! That tip would sure do a lot of good for all my mylotting activities. I've referred back to the link you gave me in one my discussions. I do refer to it from time to time. It's just that, it can get overwhelming to read especially when I know that I have friends here with new discussions that I want to read and respond to. I just try to post quality and relevant discussions and responses/ comments as much as possible. But I have to also accept the fact that I have no control over what others may start discussing. I just really need to absorb the guidelines. :)

So, with the type of responses I have here, Ithink that it is safe to assume that it is a "universal" feeling to have...at least for the first time around. This only inspired me to do better next time. :D

Since I joined myLot I received two emails for deleted comments and I agree with you it doesn't feel that good. But when I think back it was partly my mistake. I read the Dos and Don'ts for starting a discussion here at myLot and I knew well enough what is not tolerated. So if I decided to participate in a discussion that is not according to the requirements than I'm taking a risk for my comment to be deleted. Right? I shouldn't be angry at anybody then.

I agree. There is a saying that goes: We are responsible for our own life. I guess that also goes for our actions. But let me just clear something up. I wasn't and am not angry at anyone. Not at my friend whose discussion got deleted. Nor at the admin. :)

Just a few minutes ago, I ran through my email and I've read the same notification as yours. That's awful and I feel for you. Anyway let's just move on from it and start to make lots of posts to earn some money. Just don't mind it. Anyway that helps because as you can see you have started a discussion from that experience. Cheers!

It's been days since I posted this discussion. And I have already moved on. It doesn't hurt as much as it used to that time I received my email.
Yes, moving forward is the best option in this case. And I like your bit there about my starting a discussion on the matter. Hopefully, I get to earn from it too. Hahaha!

It surely feels sucks, especially when you had already give your full thought about that topic..
But as the time goes, now I am getting used to with the deletion of posts. Although I would be happier if they at least give a full explanation about why "the question it was under was deleted"..

That would be extremely helpful, I'm sure. I, however, am still not used to it. You may ask why. It's not because I was traumatized. It's more because I hardly start discussions now. It's easier for me to respond to other mylotters' discussions than to start my own. I find it even more enjoyable to do.

Hi there miad!
Certainly, getting deleted discussion or response would result to discouragement, but as for me, it is never that super hurting. I mean, we know there are rules here and we have to abide with that. The only moment I felt bad was when my discussion which is 2 years old or more got deleted.
There is only one way to deal with it, avoid discussions which you think is in violation of the rules. And if you are the discussion starter, make sure not to violate the rules or guidelines.
The bad thing is, mylot may not be able to delete your post, but there are many eyes out there who can report your post. That happens all the time.

Yeah, it was unexpected. Who could have thought that after more than 2 years, one of my discussions got deleted. I made a discussion about it because just like you I was sort of hurt and questioned how that happened. One of the responses said that a member made a rant because he/she can't accept that his/her discussions got deleted.

knowing about there being rules does no good unless you above me here go and read the real ru les and learn them then you can avoid breaking them yourselves and also can judge when y ou see a discussion that broke a rule so you can avoid it and save your earnings by going to one that has not broken any rules and make quality responses on that one.I read the rules when I first joined and its helped me make pretty good earnings here too.also even if somone reported your discussion still that report will not automatically get your discussion deleted as the admins has the final say here and lots of stuff is reported and mylot admins sees its just fine so dont worry about that. their being the final authority over deleting anything prevents any of us from abusing the report key just out of spite for example. so it cou ld be that after two years one eagle eyed admins may have seen it broke one rule or again there was some changes in the info this past year maean and while it was legal two years ago maybe theres a newer rule now that it broke.see thats why its important that we read the info occasionally as changes do get made.I am not scolding here I am just giving you advice from my own experiences here in four years.hugs from hatley.

Like I said, I just felt a "tinge of pain". But it's pain nevertheless. I wasn't "super hurt"...but maybe disappointed is the word I am looking for here. Because you see, I give very good thought and care to each and every response and comment I make here in mylot. So you see, I was "invested" in it already. Plus, I knew about the rules. I knew about the fact that discussions and responses and comments are monitored and can get deleted when found to be in violation of the rules. What I didn't expect was that "tinge of pain". And to think it wasn't even my own discussion! It was somebody else's. I was merely "collateral damage". hehehe :D
Uh-oh...I didn't know that other mylotters can report you. Yikes!
Oh, and how unfortunate to know that your post was deleted after 2 years! What happened? Did they also take away your earnings from that post?

hi miadsoriano but if all of us not just the older ones would really read the guidelines and learn what the rules of making discussions are then we would not even have our discussions and responses deleted as wer would know what to write and what not to write. also we would avoid responding to a discussion that appeared to have broken a rule. you see if you just suppose oh well I will just guess at it then you will lose a response or a discussion. I only lost one discussion and because a person was miffed at me and reported the discussion. My feeling was of anger as there were so many who had responded and now all of them lost earnings b because of me.that was why I had refused the person who asked me to ask mylot to delete my own discussion. I did not want all my friends to lose earnings. oh well its over and done with. It was a discussion I should never have written and I know better now. live and learn.but the points I wanted to make here is if we knew the rules we would not be breaking them.

I'm sorry to hear about what happened to you before. Like you yourself said, it is a lesson learned. We should just charge everything that happened to experience then.
I could have opted not to respond to this discussion I was talking about. But since it was one that a mylot friend started, I thought of responding. I wish I had followed another friend's advice and reminder that discussions that are focused on the mylot earnings of a member are subject to deletion. It may take awhile for the discussions to get "discovered" but it will, eventually.
This experience has taught me to be really choosy when responding to discussions. And to really think things through. Now, as to starting my own discussions, I only have 3 so far. One is even questionable since it's centered around my first earnings. I haven't read the FAQs that time and so I wasn't aware. I'm still new here, by the way. :D

I know the feeling dear! Exactly how you put it.
It's like you were discredited, rejected and even insulted.
The point of reading the guidelines is to know how to avoid being deleted, and avoid topics which are bound to be deleted.
Yet, despite our careful efforts, still our work gets erased sometimes. It's just part of everything so might as well get used to it.

No matter how many times I read the guidelines or am reminded by other Mylot friends, I still forget. I guess it's because I have so much in mind. And there are just too many interesting discussions to respond to. And yes, I have a life outside of Mylot and my other online earning activities. Hehehe. :)

Hello miad,
So, the Lesson there is: Never respond or comment to a discussion that can lead to you're post deletion.
It's very clear that it's not you're fault. how ever, if the discussion starter obviously has a violation on his or her post, that discussion is deleted dragging you're answers with it.so, be careful what you respond to. otherwise, it's better if you make discussions instead.

I guess once or twice, we get our discussions deleted. Specially if we are a bit new, and failed to read the discussion guidelines.
The best thing, would just be to learn from it, and move on. Also, it wouldn't hurt to read the guidelines again. It is a constant learning process, as sometimes I even forget.
Anyway, I hope you don't get discouraged and continue on!

Thanks for the reassurance. I know of the fact the discussions sometimes get deleted as well as the responses and comments that transpired from it. I read it from other mylotters. But what I was not expecting was my reaction. Actually, I felt a little "hurt". Just a little. But I felt the hurt nonetheless. It's like I was kicked out of school or something. I wonder how I would react if my own discussion was deleted. Scary thought! I'm sure I will get the hang of it soon. I hope! Hehehe.

yes. Such experiences are there for most of us. We learn from experience. While learning scooter driving I fell down more than three times. Nowadays I drive with confidence. similarly typing - now I can type at 40-60 words per minute. Initially when I started I use to struggle.
Same way you will also get used to these deletions. Admin is doing his job. Here he has to go by what is given in the rules and we should not mind about it.
I compare this to our going in One way Traffic road against the rules - we get caught by Police- we have to pay the fine. We look very small in his eyes. Many examples can be given for such a feeling.
have a good day.

Actually, in this case, it was the discussion that got deleted so because it was deleted, your response was deleted too so it wasn't you that was in the wrong but the poster of the discussion. It happens to all of us at one point or another so don't let it bother you. The poster had gone against some guideline and is why it was deleted. You can have your response deleted too if you go against the guidelines so be sure you've read up on them before responding or making a discussion and posting it so none of yours gets deleted.

I remember one discussion I posted alerting members of a site I ran that there was some kind of problem and it was deleted because they thought I was trying to promote my site. How can putting a message that the site is down because our hosting account was suspended be interpreted as promoting the site? I was confused and upset, but I decided not to worry about it. I just got the site back online as soon as I could and then let the members know what happened. Oh well...Have a great weekend!!!
