Should I quit or continue?

I am selected to be trained in one of the hospitals here in our place, and when I started to train already, it is really tiring and sometimes I wished I am just around the house doing nothing. Before I got this job, I really wished for it to come but right now that I have it, I feel like quitting. Could anyone give me some advice on how to handle this confusion?

Do not quit! No matter how tough it is you will regret quitting once you do. Just try to brave through the stress and hard work now, it may get easier after the training or after you get used to the hours and the grueling tasks. Remember that you have a job and many others (like myself) do not have one.
Just keep your head up and continue to try your best, remember eventually it will get easier and you will be able to look back and say "I did it".

Yeah I think you are right. Thanks for your advice. I think I just need time to get used to this new job and eventually I'll do good in it. Thanks again.

denisepadin,
Good Luck to you! I am sure you will succeed. I've been in your shoes when it comes to wanting to quit, and I have quit some places and now I look back and regret it as it's had a bad effect on my work record.
Garden Gerty,
Thank you for supporting me. As I've said above, I can relate to her from experience!

I also think that you shouldn't quit. Not yet at least. Give yourself the time to get used to the work first and then you see the positives and negatives. Quitting is the easiest thing to do but I think you'll be happier if you put some effort in it and succeed. I believe there is somebody else to provide for you if you want to quit so easy but give it a try. After that if you're not satisfied you may always change your job.

It is a good thing I opened my concern here in mylot because in just a short period of time, I got a lot of feedback from you guys. Thank you. I guess you are also right in the sense that if I'm not satisfied with it, I'll just change my job. I think that's a good advice knowing that if I'll quit without even trying, then I have given myself something to regret one day.

Yes, you're right. And by giving yourself the time to try you may also like the job as well. Who knows, sometimes life is giving us such chances that appear to be better for us than the ones we wanted to take. I'm also in your position. I'm starting a job that I'm not that sure I'll be happy with. But I decided to give it a chance not only because I don't have other choice but also I may like it, who knows :). I'll tell you later how is it :D.

Personally it could be a lot of things, but I would say the Best thing for you to do is continue to stick it out there, and make the Best of it. You might just be tired from doing something you are not used to doing especially if you were out of work for a while. But if this is something you are really interested in doing the Best thing is make the most of it learning all you can and in time it will get easier as well.

Two things.
A: you can't quit every time something is hard. You'll end up never doing, or becoming anything in life. Sad truth of life is that everything worth doing is really hard.
B: There is a time you should quit. Specifically when you really honestly hate what you are doing, and know you don't want to do that for the rest of your life.
So you need to determine which it is. Are you quitting just because your are tired? You may regret that choice.
Are you quitting because you really don't like what you are doing? Then you may need to quit, but you should like develop a very defined plan as to what you want to do.
I've seen people quit, and then they just sit around doing nothing, and being useless. Then they wake up several years later, and wonder why they haven't moved forward in life.
You'll regret that.
So make a plan for what you *want* to do, before you quit what you do not want to do.

That is really my problem right now. After work, I am really tired and it is more tiring to think that I'll do the same thing again the next day. I have to wake up early and try not to be late. The hard part is I don't really know anyone there so it kind of make thing more difficult for me.

You're right also,I dreamt of this job before and now when it came true I find it really tiring. But I guess everyone here is right that I should get used to this job first before deciding if I'll quit or not. Thanks for your advice!

I don't know what kind of advice I could give you. I can only say is to think positive of your job. Also remember all the new things you can buy with the money you will make with this job. Also think of how many ways you can advance at this job. The most important thing, your working in a hospital, your helping people and that should be rewarding in itself. The extra money is just an added bonus. I hope I was able to help. Plus sitting at home and doing nothing does get old after awhile, I should know. I haven't worked in 15 years and miss it so much.

Hi!
It's natural to feel like whenever we feel the pressure and stress. I only have one question for you, would you want to go back to a life without a job forever wishing to have one or would you want to continue and reap the fruits of your hard labor? ANd besides, you probably feel that way because you were used to doing nothing. Working probably surprised you and maybe even shocked your body. But that will pass. Just think of the day when you will be able to enjoy your salary.
Do your best!

It's too early to give up my dear. You are just starting and hence it is but natural for your body to feel the difference. It could be tiring at first but once you get used to it, you will find it easier. Don't give up, go on and do your best. A quitter will never succeed, remember that.

Most people do not realize just how physically and mentally hospital work is. However, this is the job that you have wanted. It will get easier as you gain more knowledge and become accustomed to the hard work. Don't quit. Think about the people you will be helping. Get as much sleep as you can(but not on the job)and eat nutritious meals. You'll be glad you stuck it out.

No do not quit. The economy is really tough right now and being at home would not be as profitable for you. However... there is an exception to this rule because I've been in your shoes before. I was upset and dejected every day on the job, but I stuck with it because I had no other choice. Finally I was so depressed that I went to a doctor to see what could be done and I found out I have a serious emotional instability and that it was actually dangerous for me to be working without being medicated and even though the doctors were going to start medicating me they said it would be over a year before they made me stable with them. I had to quit my job at that point, but the Doctor made sure that I was compensated for this.
I am telling you this story because it can sometimes be a serious thing to be dejected so much at work and stressed and if it brings you to tears. If you think it could be in any way you please get yourself checked out. But, if you think that you are just having a hard transition and that getting used to work or that you don't like the people you are working with... then work through it and realize there will come a day when you will be so glad that you did.

This is not a new feeling. Whenever you start of with something, there is a lot of excitement. Your urge to do the same work everyday, again and again leads to a monotonous life. No one wants to lead such a life and hence one feels like quitting. Believe me, if you quit and start doing something else, you will find that boring too after a few days or months. I would suggest, take a leave. A fortnight's leave could be refreshing and your urge to work again will return back.

You need a job, right? You got one now. Most jobs are really hard until you get accustomed to the routine. If I were you I would hang in there and just deal with it. You will be happy when you get to cash your paycheck.

Judging from the length of the responses you are getting a lot of advise so I won't add anymore.
I would say, though, that I have experienced the same thing that you are describing and found that it became easier each day that I continued.

Hi Denise!
No, don't quit. I know it is hard for you, it makes you feel tired but we will not get the fruit if we don't work for it. Remember that there are many people out there work hard and do you ever know whether they like their job or not?? They did it to survive and same goes to you. You need to get through the obstacles, the training session. I am very sure if you get through of it you will find it easier when you already used to it later.Anyway if you feel that you can find other job then you may quit if you feel you may not and will not get other job it is better for you to stay for it and get through and endured the hurdles. We know you can do it!

It will probably not be as tiring when you get used to it.The best thing to think of is think about why you wanted to work in the first place because it is hard to find good jobs.If you let this job go you might wish you didn't because you might have a hard time finding a good job like you have.

Yes. This feeling most of us get. When we do not have a job we are very eager to get it. After getting it initially since we are not familiar with the place, people and system we get tensed. That is why it is normally told if a person works continuously for six weeks in an organization he may continue with that organization for a longer time.
So do not quit. Any place, any job will be tiring initially. Please accept it whole heartedly -- u see you get enormous satisfaction when you do work every day.
Just one minute back I called from USA to a training college in Delhi telling about completion of work relating to Reasoning and Data Interpretation and sought additional work. I have been asked to prepare on Economics related issues. This is how we should keep ourselves busy. May be income out of this may not be good. it is ok. We feel happy and important when we wok. have a nice day.
