Does anybody know of any cures for ingrown hair follicles?

Sorry if this is gross or anything like that, but I have the worst time with ingrown hairs in the armpit area. Nowhere else, just in this one spot. I've been to the doctor who gives me antibiotics, and while that takes care of the infection, it doesn't do anything to keep them from coming back. This is a monthly problem for me, and I can no longer take antibiotics because I'll begin to become resistant to them. Do you guys know of any cures for them, or perhaps how to keep them from becoming infected? Thanks!
