It seems like nowadays, if somebody promises you anything, don't bother to even think about it 'cause it's not gonna happen. And that's what happens to me almost all the time. People promise something, either they'll give you something or make something for you, but they just seem to forget about it.
I must say I sometimes also do this. But that's because of certain reasons. Also, when I see the person I promised something, I try to explain why my promise did not take place and I do necessary actions to be able to fulfill my promise.
What do you think guys? Are promises really meant to be broken nowadays? How about you? Do you keep your promises?

Yes, in most of the cases promises are given to break them in the future.

I think that making promises and keeping them shows us the truth about a person. It makes us who we are. You can tell if person is reliable or not judging by his past deeds. Keeping promises is what friendship and relations are based on. It's important.

I do not promise , if i cannot do it. i don't want to tarnish my nice relationships, by breaking promises.
I would rather just surprise you, than telli you that i will give you , or do something for you. Do not announce what you will do, if you cannot really do it.

hi I try to do my best in keeping my promises and like you I wont promise unless I am certain I can keep the promise. But life sometimes throws obstacles our way so we are unable to keep the promises we make and if that happens I apologize to the person I made the promise to and also think of how I can correct my mistake. But you are right in general it happens lots of times that promises simply dont mean any thing to these who made the promise to you.
