Google Is Trying A New Social Site Out

I read a little bit ago where google is testing a new social site out called google plus. It is meant to be like facebook. Only a select few were chosen to be testers. If this is the case, how can they expect that the site will be given the best reviews when they are only using a cross-secion of the population?
