Just received a text message this morning which obviously, is a scam. It says:
"Congratulations! Last june/19/11 Ur cell# had Won php 750, 000+ LapTop Frm: PCCNS DTI# 8231 S.2011 CALL me Now! 2 claim Ur prize. IM atty. MARK L. MENDEZ."
This was the exact text message. Note the wrong punctuation marks and the erroneous usage of the capital letters, yes it's just a text message but at first sight we can already tell that it's a scam. In the first place, I never had joined any raffle draw or contest before that involves my celfone number.
The scammer even used the title "attorney" so that the reader will have this mentality to believe that it's not a scam, coupled with very attractive prize package, to further entice and lure the reader.
What other scam text messages do you know or had received in the past?
If it happens that you're a fellow myLotter and if you're reading this, I only have three words for you- God Bless You!.. Whoever you are pls stop that stupidity, your scamming style is already a stale modus operandi, people will only ignore your text messages and I assure you that you will only end up with nothing. You're just wasting your time and load. For God's sake, Please have a LEGAL job or business instead.
Texting is a very common thing in our country here in the Philippines. It became our tradition as we constantly like to have close family ties but as we know, when there is god then there's also bad. There are people abusing and using it for their Modus Operandis to deceive millions of their fellow Filipinos. tsk.tsk.tsk.. disgusting, isn't it?
Dear fellow myLotters, Do you think it's about time to make or promulgate a law to at least lessen or much better to eradicate and to stop these Modus Operandis? even though it's not a National priority? if not so, then what the heck are
the NTC (National Telecommunications Commission) have been doing?
Or, What do you usually do or say to yourself every time or if you had received a scam text message, like the one above?
Please share your thoughts..
Good Evening to all.. God Bless!

hi asia.
yeah, i got a similar text message as well. i just deleted the text and didn't give it a second thought. i really can't understand why people would fall for such a scam. i was surprised with what the other mylotters wrote here about people actually believing this scam and sending load credits and even cash to the bank accounts of these scammers. really crazy.
not sure if there is a specific law against this but clearly what these scammers are doing is illegally. next time i get a scam text, i'll call the number used and give the scammer a piece of my mind. lol!

Oh yeah I've received a lot of text messages like this. And there's another one, a text message saying that this is their roaming number...I have some stuff for you when I get back. Pls reply. It kinda gets annoying sometimes...and they would like text you five times, and I read in a news that someone got scammed with this, its a good thing that the NBI caught them though.

those people who were victimized and "will be victims" may be the most desperate there is..people should act rationally and logically.

I have received the same text message two days ago. I just ignored it and wondered if someone out there still believes in such message.
Two years ago a Filipino woman married to a Korean man came home to the Philippines to start a business. They weren't rich in Korea and they had to mortgage their home in Korea just to invest here. The woman was quite desperate. One day she received such text message and she called that hoax attorney. She was told to send a 500 peso worth of load and she did. When she came to the office, she ordered the secretary to photocopy some documents and accompany her to the bank since she was told to deposit 10000 php for the processing of the documents so that her two million prize could be transferred to her account. The secretary immediately told her it's a scam! She almost cried.

My husband who works as a team leader at a courier company shared to me that there are client of theirs who sent 5k to an attorney. It was said to be processing fee as they said of what they will claim as prize in a text electronic raffle draw. He cautioned them that they are scams but they insisted.
They would come back many weeks later to tell them that they really were scammed!
Yes, it's about time and should have been before pa , that a law should be promulgated to protect people from scams such as this! They deserve to be hunted and punished.
I always receive one also. But i delete them right away.

Hi simplyd
lol..they now learnt their lessons.
Anyway, I'm glad that our local broadcasting networks have been constantly exposing such illegal modus operandis, this is good since it'll disseminate pervasive awareness especially to those still unaware of these scams.
Thanks for the response..Have a good day and God Bless!

I have received similar message, but different contact person. Definitely, it is a scam because these individuals always use a ordinary contact number and not a special kind of number. Another kind of scam message I received was those who pretend to be a relative and asking for a load.
