does free sms sending in facebook really works?

I found many groups, pages or applications in facebook that promise to let us send free sms messages from pc to any phone and any country. my question is:
1. do these things work?
2. have u had any successful experiences regarding these applications?
3. if not all, which are the ones that really work?
I tried one application there, but i didn't work for me. do u have other ideas?

Hi jen! What country are you from? In my country, there are a lot of SMS packages where you just pay a few bucks for an unlimited daily txt. Also, Chikka still works right? That's another free SMS service that we can use; while we are online.
With regards to the chat service/app in FB, I haven't heard it, lest tried it. How does it work? Do you need to pay for anything?

I'm from Philippines. regarding chikka, yes we can text there for free, but it takes time for the sms to arrive to the recipient and aside from that, i think we are only limited to 3 sms sending unless the recipient replies on our message then we can become unlimited to that certain cellphone number.
In FB, it's free but I dont know if it will work. u just have to enter the number u want to text and ur message. I tried it to myself but i didnt get the message i expected.
do u know any offer in my country? ur from Thailand, right?
