First I just wanted to say that my writing is probably nowhere near a professional level. However I'm still interested in making some cash from writing. There's Helium, Associated Content and Triond but I am torn between the three. Can anyone help me find the best one for someone who is just starting out writing online?

Hi jeneias, In my opinion, Triond is the best website for beginners. I am also a beginner, and I chose Triond to start with because it is the most easy to use compared to other websites that pay you for writing content. It may not pay the most compared to the others, but as for the easiest to use for beginners, it's great.

How long does it take to start earning from Triond? That's the one I've been considering a lot lately. Do you have any tips for a newbie like myself? Thanks so much for your suggestion!

Well why not do this simple idea of mine try creating an article on triond and promote them using youtube. Examples is that you create a tutorial on how to jailbreak a ipod touch then post a video on youtube then on the description you direct them to your triond article for the whole tutorial.

There are many great writing sites. Helium is a great writing site to start your writing career. You can start writing for Helium today and start earning cash. There are many topics to write about and contests to enter. Good luck!

Triond retains more rights than the others, from what I hear. Helium and AC allow reposting on other sites (notably each other), though you might have to set your articles to non-exclusive when you post them. (You can also repost them on HubPages and Squidoo (and probably others) if you like, and resell them on Constant Content as well!)

Thanks for the suggestion. Do you know if it's possible to post my writing on various sites? Like, if I put something on Triond, can I also put it on Helium? Maybe then I can try both and test them out at the same time.

All three are fine. Helium has higher quality standards (since their pay depends on how high you rate among other articles on the same topic). I wouldn't worry too much about "professional level" writing, by the way: I've seen people who earn piles of cash and are supposed to be real pros but whose writing really isn't that good (and people who are brilliant and earn peanuts for it). When it comes down to it, a lot of the best jobs just go to the most confident applicants: you can write for magazines and stuff from day one if you want to. Check out the monster list of employers as well, for when you want to get your feet wet in freelancing (it's a bit old now but most of them are still active): http://freelanceswitch.com/finding/the-monster-list-of-freelance-job-sites-2009-update/

Ya know what, you have a good point Spike. Most of these people online talking about making money and how much they make, they usually don't even write in English very well. So maybe I do have a chance. Though at the moment I'm not too confident with my writing, at least not compared to how I used to write. Anyway, going to take a look at the link you gave me now. Thanks a bunch!

MyLot is a good site to practice and hone skills. You can do a lot of test-writing here, and at the same time, you earn side income.

Both of the sites are great for someone who wants to venture in writing.I am a member of Triond community and i can tell you its a great site for a starter. They give tips on how to increase your earnings on your publication by allowing one to share your work with friends and colleagues, and you can add other social media accounts to your Triond account.Even if your writing isn't close to a professional level, you can still beat a lot of guys but make sure you write about something you are passionate about.

I started at Helium, and then I branched off to a few other sites. I really think Helium is great for a beginner because there is a community in the forums of other writers that are willing to give advice to help you improve your writing. However, I must say that the pay scheme at Helium has changed quite a bit from when I first joined, so the potential to make money is minimal at best.

You certainly gives me the impression that you are very gifted in writing. Yes, those three programs you mentioned are the popular ones. Yet, as a beginner, if you like to find another option, here is one. It's "Review Stream". There, you can brief reviews on a variety of topics, things you come across in your day-to-day activities, shopping, restaurants, hotels, movies, travel, and so on, and get paid once the review submitted is approved. Best wishes to you !

I am not a member of any of the three but based on what I read, Triond would be great for you. I just dont know if you can post your article from both sites. you better check their rules so you are well-informed.

Triond is a good writing site. You can join writing sites such as Bukisa.com and About.com to start a writing career also. There are many opportunities to start a writing career.
