From some of the discussion in myLot, I saw many people mention that myLot is a Social Network but there are some people who think myLot is a forum site where people are discussing on topic they like. For me myLot is in between the both since we can interact with other in myLot and make friend with other and we can also share picture of ours, so that can consider as a Social Network, but when come to discussion, it is more like a forum site where you can start a topic or ask a question and discuss about it among the mylotters.
What is your view? Do you socialize in myLot like what you do in Facebook or LinkedIn?

It is considered to be a discussion site and in the process a lot more is done - socialising, sharing and learning and ofcourse earning a bit too - an ideal place to spend one's spare time.

There are so many social networks but myLot is unique and has a disciplined approach. There is so much one needs to know before participating here and enough is not enough. Even veterans slip sometimes.

For me, it's more of a forum site. It is where you can share your experiences and opinions but not to say bad things about somebody, lest the admin will delete you from it.
But we can also socialize. We can privately send message and from their continue friendship outside of MYlot.
I like Mylot than any other site.

I would say mylot is a socializing network through discussion. People are connected through discussion. Just like now, you are respond to my discussion and I am not commenting on your respond. Here is very much different from forum site, where you can add friend but in forum site, you can never do so. Am I correct?

I don't really think Mylot is a social networking. First, actually I don't know my real friends here. Since my friends are not so good at English and they are not interested in writing in English, too. Namely I just have net friends in Mylot. Second, you can only share the opinions with each other. But you can't upload something to express yourself. Besides, you have to be careful for your posts. As it may be deleted by Mylot admin when they think your posts break the rules.
I love China

Yeah, you are right, we actually do not really know who are our friend in the real world that we make through myLot but I do know that there are many people who actually meet new friend from myLot and they contacted each other offline.
The only things that keep some of the people away is that people who join myLot must know English, or else they can never survive and will never return to myLot.
Site rules are having in all the Social Network and we all have to obey the rules when we join the site. So, that is very common.

I joined myLot about four years ago, and I am certainly very glad that I did. This is from many aspects a very unique place to meet, make friends, and work together with wonderful people from countries around the world. It is a community where members cooperate for mutual interests and benefits.

Hi!
A community to share the mutual interest. That is really good way to describe mylot in a more suitable way. I am also glad that I join mylot instead of wasting most of my time playing games in facebook. I would prefer to socialize in myLot rather than in Facebook. At least here I can find a group of people who having the same interest.

Yeah you are right, MyLot is bit of both. It is up to you; how you want to use it. It is social network as well as forum site. I do like MyLot a lot, because I can share what I know with others and also am I am able to get others opinion on what others think on some topics that I have and as a booster for these, you get paid for relevant discussions and comments. Just like a social networking site, we can make friends too. So, MyLot is a better place to be than just a social networking site.

Yeah, I used to spend my time in Facebook before I found myLot. In facebook, I spent a lot of time playing games and not really socialize with others. I only contact with a small group of friends of mine in facebook. I will never be able to know what other people have in their mind. How they live and what happens to them unlike myLot. Here in myLot, I can choose to read anything I like and I can get a lot of information I wanted to know. It is no border when come to making friend here in myLot. But in facebook, I will not easily accept friend request like in myLot. That is the different. So, I would rather spend more time in Mylot than in Facebook and doing something useless.

In my mind, mylot is exactly a forum where we can find a lot of discussions and comments but not chit-chatting.
If we read through the discussion guidelines, we are reminded for many restrictions when we are responding or discussing in mylot.
The social network likes Facebook does not have so many restrictions when the members are interacting to each other.
However, the social network likes Facebook does important to us but I don't think every of the member can earn very much from this social network.

Mylot gives me an impression and image of a social network but it just focus more on the discussion part.
Most of the site have their own rules and restrictions. They are needed to control so that people do not abuse it usage. Some site are strict on the rules and some will just close one eye. And every social network have their own different way or platform for the member to interact. Facebook only allow you to interact with people that you really know unless you have accepted by she/him unlike in mylot, you can comment on everyone discussion without needed to know that person.

When myLot started out it was designed as a discussion site but myLot themselves suggested "It's kind of like MySpace, only much cleaner" and "it's fun to be a fast growing community!" suggesting that is is a social site too.
They say more and it can all be found here:
http://www.mylot.com/o/whatismylot.aspx
I have an account on Facebook but I don't do anything with it and I find LinkedIn is geared for those who have a business or are more determined in their online earning ventures.
I have certainly met and made many friends here and through the discussions have got to know them better and communicated in private too. Therefore yes, I socialise a lot here and it is the only site where I do so. I find that we are more likely to meet new people from other countries and get to know them better than would happen on other social sites.
It's more of an international social site because 'chatting', 'discussing' and 'conversing' are all social functions surely? Would we meet people from other countries on the other well-known social sites so easily?

Hi!
I don't see which part of myLot is similar or kind of like MySpace, for me, myLot is totally unique and it has it own attraction where it keep attracting people to join in. I believe mainly is because it is a paying site.
I used to have a Facebook account but ever since it has a privacy issue, I closed it. I think to use Facebook is a waste of time, most of my friends who using facebook to pass their time by playing games but not actually socialize. They spend many hours daily and 90% of the time was play games. So, I don't think that is a good idea and not a good way to interact with friends. LinkedIn is more for user with profession job.
I would prefer to have a discussion type of interaction like in myLot between friend rather than through games. At least from discussion, we can share many things and learn many things.
