My bf told me yesterday that Facebook is banned on office due to one gay that is self confess addicted on Facebook at work. Before he can produce more work but now only almost half of it is done cause he pays attention to Facebook. Is it for office law only? If it's true, would you still open Facebook at work?

Whether there is a law or not, employees should follow working etiquette. Work when it is time for work and you can do some Facebook stuff on breaks. Employers pay people to work not to use Facebook. Sorry for being rude. It just happened that my mother is working in an office with an I.T. that is doing ONLY Facebook stuff rather than maintaining the security of the office's computer units.

Yeah that's right, if there is a work to be done especially if there are rush job, employee should not use Facebook. However, for a so busy people doing typing, designing or needs thinking job all day, they need to take a break every once in a while and relax their mind by using Facebook or playing games if they have a chance. There are actually jobs that needs only few work to do unlike others so it really depends on your job and the boss.

Agree. Too bad a lot of employees don't realize that fact. They always complain that they are pressured in work but actually they are just evading the work that they should've done....I feel that I sound like Ana Manalastas of 100 Days To Heaven.

lol , your watching that too! In my previous job, we don't have an network internet connection, there is only one computer with net connection use for emailing and our two bosses just call in the intercom if they want to plug internet into their computer. We hardly do internet there so we are so concentrated in our work, but still not all job is done, too much work load and too much pressure. You can add the fact that our female boss is 98% like Ana Manalastas, really

I think that Facebook is now banned from a lot of offices around the country, because staff waste far too much of their time on there. When I was an office manager, I used to set people specific amounts of work to get completed per day. I said that I didn't mind how much of their time was wasted on Facebook, but I would expect that they would stay in the office until all of their work was done. If they complained about this, I accessed their internet history and checked up on the amount of time they had wasted, and if they wasted a lot of time and wouldn't work extra for it I deducted it from their wages. They soon got the message, and I feel as though this was a fair thing to do, as I think that it is a little bit patronising to "ban" adults from going on whatever websites they wish to go on. As long as they get all of their work done on time, it doesn't matter at all to me.

I think you just did the right thing to do, there are few bosses who don't check up on that. It is not right to extend hours just doing fb or surfing the net, me I need to extend cause I keep the keys and if my boss is on site and cannot come back, I really need to close the office, while waiting for my officemates and if I have nothing to do, I surf the net. But as I said, if there is a rush work that the boss is waiting for, I prioritize the job first.

Not only Facebook but also all other sites not connected to your work should also be banned from the office because it will hinder you from doing quality work which is what you are paid for. It is just proper to ban those sites.

In our production floor, Facebook is not accessible. But there are few workers who dared to use some sites where they can go undetected. However we also have screen shots that is used by IT so they can really be tracked. I don't think Facebook should be allowed in the office because it can hinder work. We do have computers in the pantry area where Facebook is allowed.

We are not allowed to use the facebook at work but used to have it. The IT department has a marching order to filter the use of facebook. Since some have a discipline not to open it while it is office hours, some are just stupid enough to use it like playing and socialite while the work is waiting for them to be finished. Some government agency are also now shutting facebook during office ours and worst if you are caught using personal laptop and wireless internet you might get suspended..

here it differs from one office to the next. Many offices allow their employees to use the internet during their breaks to just check e mail or such, but at our office all private internet use is strictly forbidden, not only facebook, or you will run into trouble.

For small office that needs both computer and network, they maybe allowing employees using the internet provided that they meet their quotas and jobs are finished. Here, even my boss use the internet, we not only do this for personal use but we also use internet for image searching other work related matter.

Social networks like as "facebook, badoo" made a purpose to communicate with each other to share thoughts, emotions and discuss every topic which is effect on your life. But these websites has a drawback ,they are latest and interesting offers to their users for the caught the maximum yet they earn maximum share from market.Because this fact the mostly are addict from different social network website.and waste their precious time in useless activities of different social network websites.People are wants to use social network websites every ware like as house, office. They are follow their life in any field of life.In the the forgot the office role and cause to lose of their companies. The would wanted their servant to give maximum their effort because the companies paid for this purpose.
