Just last Friday, I received a very shocking news. My daughter who is only 1 year old is having wax discharge in her ears for more than a week, so we decided to bring her to the doctor. When we brought her to the ear-nose-throat doctor, she was surprised to see a "foreign object" in her right ear. When I checked to see what it was, I was surprised to see her earring which have been missing for 3 days already! I thought we just misplaced the earring, but as it turns out, since my daughter was having an ear infection, she kept on scratching her ears until she accidentally pushed her earring inside her ear canal. The doctor informed us that she needs to have an operation to remove the earring inside her ear canal. She has to be under general anaesthesia to make sure she will not move while undergoing the procedure. The doctor said it would be too dangerous to remove the earring without an anaesthesia because my baby could move and there is a danger of perforating the ear drum. So, we decided to push through with the surgery the following day. So, last Friday, we spent the entire day in the hospital to do tests before the operation which was scheduled on Saturday morning. She had an x-ray, was injected with IV and then they made her sleep before administering anaesthesia. It was an experience which I wish I never would have to go through again. I could feel my daughter's pain in all of these and I just wished I could take away the pain. So, from then on, my daughter stopped wearing earrings. We'll just have to wait until she's old enough. How about you? Have your children been hospitalized? Isn't it just a nightmare?

My son was hospitalised twice. Once when he was about 2 and the other time when he was 6, he got an operation but it was an outpatient procedure. When he was two he was diagnosed with bronchitis and that time when we decided to send him to the hospital because he got difficult with his breathing. When we got there the nurse quickly did her duty to take his temperature and all that and send him straight to the doctor bypassing all other patients. We were worried then. When he was hospitalised for a few days (I cant remember how many days anymore), I was already a stay at home mom that time so I stayed with him at the hospital. I remember that it was quite a pleasant stay because I do not gave to worry about cooking and cleaning. My son vomited a whole lot and the nurse on duty personally changed the sheets so that we could have clean sheets quickly. At that time we (the parents) were quite used to his sickness and expected the treatment we received. I remember that we were not so worried already because we knew that we were in good hands. When he was six my sons private area got infected and it was operated on. We went in the morning and came back the same day. He was jumping about when his friend (my husbands friend came to visit with his son and wife) came to play so there was no worries there again. If i were in your case I would certainly be very worried. But I think it had to happen to make us better parents. The best thing is that when this sort of thing happens and you have your husband around which makes it better for us wives. Thanks for sharing.
