The new rap music gets alot of attention. Rappers like Lil wayne, TI and Drake get alot of attention but are they anywhere near as good as the older rappers such as Tupac, Biggie, Grand master Flash and the Furious Five?
I cant say I know all the rappers but it seems the Rappers of today dont know what to talk about and have no delivery to talk about what they do talk about.
With very few exceptions they concentrate on ego rapping. Pumping their self up showing how good they are and not talking about whats happening in the community or the world.
A few try to rise above. Kanye West has had some informative songs, Nas and a few others buth for the most part their message is no message and their flow is no flow. For example Lil Wayne could hold a candle for Tupac and Bigghie or even some of the lesser rappers of their day. What do you think?

Apples and oranges. Yes, these are both "rap", but they belong to different sub-genres and that makes a huge difference. These artists are not similar styles whatsoever and they are not trying to reach the same audience. It is not really fair to compare them. Then again, all art is unique in its way and so I don't know if it's really fair to compare any like this. It all depends on personal preference. That is what life is about - choice. It's a good thing that music and everything else is always evolving. Artists should always try something new. They shouldn't try to be like the artists before them; they should challenge the limits and use their creativity to show us the world from their perspective.

There are many sub genres of Rap music there are ego rappers, there are culture rappers, fun rappers, joke rappers and many more.
Rap is like a religion with many different ways . There is a hop hop bible and many commentaries about rap. It is a 100 billion dollar industry.
Rap is here to stay but no matter the genre there is good and bad among them and by most peoples standards Tupac was the best.

Well those are some interesting names for the genres, which I have never heard. At any rate, an opinion is never more than an opinion and majority may say what it wants, but it doesn't make it true... or false.

I feel that the old rap music is much better. I remember when I first heard dr. dre and snoop dogg, their song dre day and when Tupac come out with Brenda's Got a Baby.
That's when I fell in love with rap music, they just don't have that any more. I mean you still have Snoop and Nas and Jay Z. I do like some of todays though, Lil Wayne, 50 Cent, Drake, Plies, and Eminem, but I feel like today they just lost more of the realness.
