Security on money making sites

So I have this fear that if I start using many of the websites that are discussed here (survey sites, ptcs, referral sites, etc), I'm going to have my Paypal or email hacked or have my identity stolen or something. has that happened to anyone? I'm expecting to get a boatload of spam if I start using these sites, but I'm hesitating because of that fear. Should I be so worried?
