How are you friends ? Hope you won't be fine anymore !
I really mean that !
Actually when i was roaming through the Internet i found that it is a mistake to use the word "fine" for an ordinary "How are you ?" .
Actually Fine is used when we are Freaked Out Insecure Neurotic and Emotional !
Instead of fine we may use good , wonderful, great , not so bad !

I would have never thought that the term fine would mean what you've said. However, I also know that I don't typically use that term when someone asks me how I am doing. Typically, I will tell people that I am doing good or doing okay. However, there are those times when things are not going so well in my life and in those cases I will let the person know what the things are that are bothering me because I really think that people that ask how you are doing care about what is going on in your life.

Well I'm just fine because nobody wants honest answers anyway. I used to tell not so good and their faces turned......!

I don't understand interpreting the word 'fine' (in response to "How are you?") as meaning 'freaked out, insecure, neurotic and emotional'. Where did you come up with that? When I am asked "How are you?", I generally respond with, "I am wonderful! How are you?" If not with 'wonderful', I use 'Doing well, thank you.'
And, I will continue to be 'fine' until the actual meaning of the word is changed.

hi stylewaves Are you sure fine means those things? I had never seen that definition. I have seen fine to mean something slender rather than something coarse in she has fine hair, his is coarse. But I will change to say what I usually say, well I am breathing and walking, and not hurting so yees I am just great. that always gets people to smiling.

I think that the word "fine" is used a lot in the human vocabulary. The thing is, most of people who use the word "fine" don't mean it, and there might be something wrong with them. They just say that they're "fine" as it seems easier a lot of the time to tell people that they're alright rather than that they're actually not fine at all, as that would probably take a lot more explanation from the individual. We should think more into what we're saying, rather than just claiming that everything is okay all the time when it might actually not be.

I think you're taking the acronym a little too literally! But that's ok. I hardly use that word though, but I almost never use the word "okay." But if I'm in a really great mood, I just say "I'm fabulous! How are you?"
