You can know your skin type

Friends, skins are classified as, Normal, and Dry, Oily. It will be really difficult for you to choose any skin products without knowing its type. A simple test at home can tell you your skin type, wash your face with mild soap or face wash. Pat it dry with a soft towel. Now wait for an hour and do not apply anything on your face. Do not go in very hot or cold climate. For better result you should stay at home. Take tissue paper and press on different spots of your face. For better results use separate piece of tissue onto each area of your face like chin, cheeks, forehead, nose. After few minutes examine each tissue and look for any residue on it. If the tissue will stick to your face and have oily spots, this shows you have ‘oily skin’, your face will look shiny specially nose, chicks and forehead. If the tissue will not stick and will not have any oily spots, this indicates you have ‘dry skin. After washing your face, you feel stretched skin i.e. tight and dryness in skin is observed. If the tissue sticks in your T-zone (forehead, nose and chin), you have ‘combination skin’. It is oily as well as dry mix. T-zone part of face is oily and rest is dry. Normal Skin – if your face looks neither too oily nor too dry, you have ‘normal skin’; the skin looks very bright and is blemish free. Hardly 20% of women have this skin type. Please avoid testing your skin when you have applied oil to your hair because oil gets spread over the forehead and it may give wrong impression as oily skin. So test your skin when your hair is oil-free. Hope you find this useful. What kind of skin you have? Do you apply any cosmetics or creams?Mine is normal skin, I wash face with a paste of turmeric and sandal wood oil, no chemicals, no face wash cream, and it glows like pure gold. I apply good quality talcum powder only. Please respond and share your views. Kalyani ‘Namastey’. . God bless you to enjoy a lucky day ahead.

My face has a tendency to be somewhat oily...but my hands and legs are extremely dry....so they get alot of lotion....my face however doesn't. Only in the winter does it need some moisturizer!

Thanks for the information. I am not very particular with my face nor I dont usually use make-up of any sort on my skin. Sometimes powder is just enough. At least my face can breathe so much. As the saying goes, beautiful face is beautiful all over. But I also believe that we must take care of our face as it is also the picture of our own.

Yes I think that is one good way of knowing your skin type. Actually, my dermatologist told me I have a normal skin that tends to go dry once in a while, so I need to use moisturizer to avoid it from going dry. I don't wash my skin with soap and never use make up as well. I am contented with baby powder all day.

dear maa, My skin is not too oily and not dry either. I don't use cosmetics or make up in my face. I also do not use lipstick either. I use lemon to clean my face and mild soap to wash the lemon after scrubbing it on my face. I use tomato and egg white also to keep my skin healthy. Have a great weekend dear maa and hugs to you and shubee

I have an oily skin type and i hate it. :( It causes me extreme acne and even though i'm getting myself a treatment, i'm afraid it won't be permanent, just because my skin is oily. :|

skin types - Different skin types.Normal, Dry and oily.
Very good and useful information you had given .I previously thought how to find out the skin type as many beauticians tell about it .I never checked before on my self or tried any cosmetics. Your suggestions and guidance would be a great help for many to know the skin type and use exact cosmetics for themselves. I guess you had done some beautician course so you are aware of such well explanation and description. Thank you.Have a nice day.

That is a nice information and thanks to it Kalyni. I just knew it. i have combination of oily and dry skin. I have been using papaya soap all over my body for a long time already. For my face, i use sunblock without specific brand. I got from my dermatologist and i also buy from the stores. My dermatologist advised me to apply sunblock on my face every hour whenever i am exposed to sunlight if not exposed, only apply sunblock in the morning after taking a bath.

Thanks for the information, may be beneficial to us all. To better know our skin type, so it can be use the equipment suitable for skin type. Than with tissue paper, we also can test your face with blotting papers that place in some parts of the face. These tests can also find out the typeof skin, which is oily, dry, combination, or normal.

hi Kayni I have the misfortune to have a t zone oil zone and the rest is super dry. I cleanse my skin wit Noxzema and wash gently and thourughly an and it looks good all day.It seems to sop up the oiliness without drying my dry skin either. than I apply cocoa butter to my dry skin then rinse with warm water. My skin looks good so am happy wit it.

hello kal, my face gets oily outdoors but i feel it is dry in rooms with A/C. i wash my face with just soap and water and pats it dry. that makes me feels fresh after. i dont put on make up unless it is necessary. although i put on loose face powder after every bath. guess, a habit. its not always the face that needs examining to know whether one has dry or oily skin. you maybe oily on the face, but other areas like the arms and the legs maybe dry. so i always put on lotion. helps a lot to keep in the moisture. ann
