Just found this website of the president himself.
www.president.gov.ph
he even has his facebook account!
wwww.facebook.com/presidentnoy
I can see that government is now exerting more effort to reach out to its citizens. There is a part in the website that says transparent government that aims to get the opinion / suggestion from the Filipinos on how to make the government more open and transparent to the public..
Do you think this is enough? Do you think that the government has changed? Do you think we are on our way to cleaner, corrupt free country? Just wondering...

Well Pnoy is only in his first year in office so it's still too early to judge, at least we do not yet see corruption in the magnitude of the ZTE and fertilizer fund scam et al... and dishonesty at such a grand scale as the hello Garci scandal, perhaps so far so good if you would compare it to the past administration

Yes you are right.. We have not heard any severe corruption news than the past couple of years. In fact they have discovered some scandal from the previous administration like the pabaon scandal. I just hope that the military tradition stops from there. I feel bad for the current General of AFP because he wont be able to get his bonus when he retires. haha!

@bhonti. my golly! All the money stolen from the time of Marcos to the present from scandals, scams and corruption, plus that antique Nuclear power plant we bought in the 70's that we never got to use and every tax payer is paying up to now could have bought as an Aircraft carrier with modern jets enough to defend the small tiny islands of our country from internal and external agression, what we got instead are special combat units fighting without even a new ration of boots, communicating thru text haha while in combat and political war lords that have an arsenal more modern than our armed forces, what we bought are cheap cannon and mortar shells that most of the time turn out to be duds, non of them deserved a bonus when they retired anyway

Personally, I don't think the governemnt has or will change. Not overnight or even in the six-year term of this current president. Why? Because the problem is in the system and in ourselves as the public. There is rampant corruption, social issues still not resolved or even making a little progress, politicians who live and act like kings and serving only their interests instead of doing public service. The public is also partly to blame. We tolerate this people and we look the other way. We don't learn from our history and pour past mistakes. We vote on national elections which is often comparable to a popularity contest. After the election, we go back to our ways and forgot what we aims and objections our. It's like a sugar rush.
Even though the governemnt claims that it tries to promote transparency, there will still be under the table deals and curious happenings in the government. And even if we do give some opinion or suggestion to the president, he still have the option of ignoring it. The thing that irks me now is that he and his government is constantly defensive and sometimes, he tries to shoot his foot and embarrass himself. With this type of aura, I think I would pass on his invitation since he seems like he doesn't know what his doing.
To answer your last question, I could only hope. I don't want to give up but I am tired of promises that are broken afterwards. I don't want to be overly critical but I don't want to be a supporter of something that I cannot trust. Perhaps the idea of cleaner, corrupt-free country is beyond our grasp. The idea is so idealistic that maybe it only exists in dreams.

It is not enough unless there is a Catholic church that always meddling the government!!! If I have time, I will give my own opinion to his facebook account. I will tell him that he should not listen to the Catholic church. He should do it what he thinks is right. He must not be ruled by the Catholic church. That is all.

well for me, I don't think it is enough.Perhaps, I do feel the effort of our administration to change. But then, its really hard and really makes time to be a corrupt free country because not only the Administration to be change and be strive for fighting corruptions but also us! as a citizen of the Republic of the Philippines. Since we are nation, there must be a team effort that every has a unique responsibilities to achieve and also we must not only depend to the Government because we our poor or we have nothing to eat since we individual must work hard to be successful and not blaming to them that things we have failed to do.
