Her father is the "PUNISHER" now we call the daughter the "PUNCHER".I am referring to the Duterte's in Davao City. The Lady Mayor punches the face of the sheriff due to demolition riot. Many are in favor of the Lady Mayor Action and there are also some critics that it should not be.For humanitarian reason the Mayor is asking for a 2 hours delayed of the demolition that will be done that day,but the sheriff did not okay what the Mayor is asking.
Riot's of residence and police happen. There are people who have been injured both on police and residents. Now maybe on what happened,we cannot blame the mayor of the actions done.
Can you share your opinion,if the you are infavor or not on the incident. Thanks!

When I read that title last night on the inquirer online, I thought 'what the heck's wrong with this woman? She should never hit a man, is it because she's the mayor?!
Then I read the full article, I can't blame the mayor for her actions. She wanted to settle things peacefully by asking for 2 hours to wait for the court's decision, because whatever the decision will be, the residents and the mayor will accept it, but then, ignoring the mayor's request, the chief carried on the implementation of the demolition which resulted to riot.
She just wanted peace. The chief ignored the woman mayor and only wants to do someone else's order that created riot. I think the mayor just did what almost all the residents want to do to the chief. Still, I think women should not hit men. That's too much for a guy to accept.

I agree xannex. She is facing a tough problem right now with Davao's relief efforts for all the victims of the recent flood. And all she asked for was 2 hours in order to prevent more loss of lives, especially because the demolition could erupt in another violent confrontation, which is basically what happened. Some might question her actions as unbecoming of a lawyer, but that time she did that as a mother of the city, which she is because she is the city mayor. I admire that act and some people who are not from Davao find it hard to understand her actions or behavior. But there are some things you need to do out of the tradition or what is expected of you to make your point.

she knows that having a demolition will possibly cause a riot, she just wanted everything to flow peacefully. she was at that time in the most flooded place in our city, trying to see the conditions of the people there, and helping out as well, that's why she asked for a 2-hour delay for the demolition. she wanted to be at the site of the demolition cause she know she can take control on everything to avoid the riot. but the sheriff still continued the demolition. the mayor wanted to keep our city as peaceful as possible. the sheriff said he continued the demolition cause it was the order of the court, but in the mayor's side she said that the sheriff and herself had a meeting days before the demolition to plan everything to avoid the riot. i dont know why the sheriff didnt follow the plan, and im not sure if the court really ordered him to continue. i know what the mayor did was wrong, she is an influenced person here and she should act as perfect as she could or as how people expect her to be. but she was just totally pissed of, she even said "i spent days and days with you (the sheriff) planning everything so that this demolition wouldnt any harm to everyone. but what did you do?! you just wasted all those planning!!" which was true for me. so i cant blame her for acting like that.

That serves the sheriff.
See,the mayor asks for a favor and they did not listen.
Because the mayor is a woman..is that the reason why they ignored her?
Well...they must honor her pleadings,it's for everyone's welfare.
She is just trying to settle some things to make the demolition peaceful.
She just did what is right...salute to mayor Duterte

I think her being a women was the only reason for me to view that is the reason why the sheriff got what's coming to him.he should have respected her plea, some men can have too much pride that they think they're doing country or the city a favor. this man was out of his league.

Hello kyle,
He should resign! that's all I can say to that grumpy old moron who couldn't respect authority. that he thought the mayor was a sissy and though she won't budge if he continues, the old coot got it all wrong. Not only she's pretty but also pretty tough, I think she's a hero for me because of what she did i hope lower authorities will respect her now

I think the mayor has overdone it. If she doesn't want any trouble then she cold have use peaceful means. She's a lady and she should act as a lady. She could have all the good reason but the action does not justice the reason at all. If we could see mayors acting like this, I think we are sending the children the wrong message. We don't use violence to quench impending violence.

Majority I think would cheer for what she did simply because we have all grown tired of incompetency when it come to public service, okay but there's another side to it, there's a rule of law , and I do not think anybody could just punch anybody just because we perceive or even if there was actual incompetency especially if you are in public office, what if all elected Government officials did that including the President? Yes we all admire what she did but I hope she is also ready for the consequences that might come her way simply because she lost her cool.We might even lose a good Mayor if her political opponents exploit the issue, guess we will be seeing and hearing more in the days to come but it would now be on the legal and judicial consequences of her action, and I wish her good luck Mayor.

I like what she did, that is pure "Girl Power!"..lol..but it is all wrong in the first place but I really admire the courage. Now I'm curios about the sheriff why he is really eager to demolish it, I know he is just doing his job because there is already court order but then, 2 hours, wow! that is not a big waste. Money?! I guess..hehe..the reason.....

I saw the news last night and i could only guffaw , when i saw her punch that sheriff.
But after learning what provoked her to do it, i can only agree. When one is erred, a blinding fury is what could be felt. And when you are in a blinded fury, your reasoning is already clouded , that you only have one thing in mind - to get even.
