Bad restaurant, bad food, never going back.

My boss treated me to breakfast this morning at a place I'd never been before.
Never before have I had shoddy service at a higher class restaurant. I'd expect as much at a cheap fast food place, but not at a place like this.
First, in order to get free parking in the lot, I had to give them my license plate info. Right, as if we're going to be staying longer than 2 hours.
We found the prices to be pretty high for breakfast, but given the location, I shouldn't have been surprised.
The menu showed how the food looked, but when it came to the table, it didn't look anything like the picture. Not that this is abnormal, this happens everywhere it seems.
I ordered a hot breakfast, eggs, sausages, hasbrowns and pancakes. The plate was hot, but when I started to eat the food, it was cold!! I couldn't believe it.
Hot breakfast is supposed to be hot, not cold. It's like they left it sitting around and put it on a hot plate hoping I wouldn't notice.
But notice I did. And I was not amused. I told them my food was cold and they took it back. I expected them to just reheat it, but instead I got a brand new plate of food.
The hashbrowns on the first plate were very over cooked, but the second round was better.
Even though the second plate was hot, it doesn't change my views of this restaurant, I will never be going back there again.
Not my idea of a good breakfast. But I took the leftovers home anyways and ate them for dinner.

First impressions at a restaurant usually make it or break it for me too. See when I go to a restaurant I usually do not expect a hit or miss. There are so many around here that bad service can really destroy a restaurant.
Sadly some have issues and although they may actually be good, when a new customer comes in, that customer should be waited on with really great food as I don't blame you for not wanting to return as I too would remember the occasion and think twice.

as they say,the first impression is the best impression , if that itself is bad, then i dont think anyone will be looking forward to going again to such a restaurant. But sometimes its not the food thats the issue, its the waiters and staff, this should also be taken into consideration because in some restaurants , the chefs and waiters change and serve different tables different days. so basically if this is the issue ,the restaurant can be good or bad depending upon its staff.

So true about first impressions as it holds truth for any type of business also. I have done several anonymous customer service rating for many business owners and can honestly at times agree with the owners that their employees actually have broken a business.

It was nice of your boss to treat you. How was her food? I tend to not give a bad restaurant a second chance any more. With this economy they should be doing above and beyond the average to get and keep loyal customers. It is too bad that they have not figured that out yet.

It seems like hers was fine, she never complained about it. Said her potatoes were hot.
Doesn't make much sense at all really.

I'll also expect good service and quality food and dining on an expensive restaurant because basically it's expensive there. If the same thing happened to me, I'll probably not visit the place to eat ever again, too. I'd rather spend my money on less expensive restaurants with better food and service.

That's basically the premise. If you pay for something expensive, you'll expect things to go smoothly.

I should say I'm like you when it comes to restaurants. It has always been my view that restaurants would charge higher prices because of the value added quality services it connotes. So every time I enter a restaurant I would expect to be treated and served nicely with the food and with the crew.
I once experienced this not so pleasant service of one resto in a big Mall here in the Philippines. The food was good, yeah! but the service is too poor. If I would get to eat a good meal at my convenience I'd surely pay for its cost no matter what. But if I will be treated badly by the crew, I wouldn't have second thoughts of concluding not to come back to that restaurant again. I hate it when I call a crew, and aside from the fact that it took him a long time to attend to my needs, he also exude a very anguish and terrible face. He can't even smile. What the... Is he angry that I ate at the restaurant he's working in? I am very particular with service, because I myself is a service provider. I guess it's not just the food, it should come with the service too. Then again, it's also crucial that their food should taste just right. Otherwise people won't ever ever really come back, even with a quality/good service.

Yes scarface, charging you extra price means they've got some value added services. If they don't then they are not in the right position to charge greater prices. Yeah really hot food, no one would love to eat foods directly pulled out from the fridge aight?

all this information will be useful for mylotters from ur place if u had given the details of restaurant- name at least. For others also --when we go for tour to ur place we can avoid this hotel.
I am not surprised. We have a hotel in Erode, Tamil Nadu - Oxford Hotel. an old hotel -- it was good. nowadays less manpower because management is not paying properly. Further the son of the owner has started a new hotel which is running well. politics.

Hi there. Wow. I can certainly empathize with how you felt about the experience. That sure was some irony right there: hot plate, cold food.
Gourmet resto? That's just sad. But then a lot of restaurants tend to be overrated, so.
Maybe you should write a review on a restaurant review website so that other people would be forewarned.
Have a great weekend!

I'm glad they gave you a second plate. I agree that even though they fixed the mistake, it's still not good for business that they made the mistake in the first place.
I had a similar experience at a hotel where my hubby and I stayed in Kitchener. The food was good food, but cold.

Going to an expensive restaurant is okay every now and then. I like to live the good life too, sometimes. But when I know I am paying more than usual, I also expect excellent service. I have this understanding that when the food is expensive, it is because I am also paying for a stress-free, hassle-free time.
Cheers!

I sounds like an awful experience. And worse still if it was meant to be a good restaurant. I don´t expect much of fast food chains and go there only when my grandchildren beg (or begged, they don´t anymore now they are older). I think that evn if the second plate was better, a good restaurant must have good plates all the time.
I wouldn´t go gain there for any money. Not even if invited.

I was so addicted to stuff in this restaurant down the lane in my hood ... i used to hang out with my friends in there so often!I literally stopped visiting them right from the moment when we have been served bad smelly food despite of us being so frequent. One bad impression does the killing for me and i've no intention to get back to them ... not even for a drink.Great day.
