The doctors believe when he was in Vietnam he was exposed to something called Agent Orange and that caused his first bout of cancer in 1990 and caused this one that killed him.

I'm so sorry about your father. I have not lost a parent to cancer, thankfully. About 7 years ago my Mom battled colon cancer. She now has a colostomy bag but she is still here and for that I am thankful. My deepest sympathies to you. I know cancer is a horrible disease.

Thank you for the prayers. At least I know he is not hurting anymore. He was never much to tell people when he was in pain but I know he was! He isn't now :) Thats my solace!

I've lost a mother in law (who I was close with) to adrenal cancer and my stepmom to lung cancer with whom I was also close with...It's devastating, heartbreaking, and painful, but I learned to move on, I go through bouts of really missing them and crying, but that's healthy and normal. It's very hard to get over the impact, but I think of it as; they wouldn't want you to wallow in pity over them, they would want you to be happy and move on with your life......

I wish your father a soeedy recovery! We did not even have time with him. From beginning to end it was 3 weeks. The problem is we caught it to later. I feel horrible because I knew something was wrong with him for a long time. But the doctors would not listen!

Leukemia is a form of cancer. The heart murmur and asthma make it even worse. Do not be afraid to get on the doctors back and bug the crap out of all of them and demand what you think he needs! If you need a friend I am here. DO NOT GIVE UP. I did not have a chance with my dad because we caught it to late. But you have a chance!
