Electronics - TV, computer, cellphone - they are everywhere!!! We use them everyday. It's like we can't live without them. But if we think, back then, all these stuffs don't exist. And humans are able to live without them. But nowadays, living without any electronic is like "dead". You know what I mean? So if somebody dares you to stay all day long using no electronics, not one. And here's the deal - not only you have to stay without electronics but stay all day without using anything that uses electricity (battery powered stuffs, cars, anything that involves electricity to function). Can you do it??? Hmmm... me...? Nooooooooooooo!!!!!!! Well, let's see. How about you?

From time to time in the city where I live, there is many a power failure. From time to time means at least once or twice a month, so far above the average for the acceptability of a city in the XXI century. Peak is that we taught not to annoy. We have house full of candlesticks and candles colored when the incident occurs, turn into a romantic game, and if does not last long, charming. We playing rummy. And because we can not listen to music, and TV is, strangely, silent and numb, not once we started to sing.

Nope, I couldn't do it. First of all, I wouldn't be able to get from my apartment to my car. And then I wouldn't be able to use my car to get to work. Not to mention light - although I could open the windows, I guess.

I remember as a young girl and not having modern devices when visiting my grandparents. We even had an outhouse! A drink of water came out of a copper pipe from a spring that ran through my grandparents land. It was awesome. I remember when feeding chickens was considered fun. There was no music or TV Grandma made meals on a wood cookstove. Your best friend was animals on the farm. Playing in the creek or taking a ride on the back of grandpas tractor and watching him cut the fresh wheat. It always smelled so good! Then when I turned 15 there I worked for 11 Carmelite nuns in an nursing field. Again there was no modern devices. But I do remember finding an old TV moving the people to the so called family room we had and turning on HeeHaw. There were about 5 that got up and danced that could stand and walk and the nun come up and caught us! But they had life in their eyes and it was just an awesome thing to do for them! today I love my computer but I do find days where I go sit by the bay with nothing but my cross stitching and reading a book and its just awesome to be around nothing electrical!

Honestly probably no I could not. Whether it be xbox, my pc, watching movies, talking on the phone, using a can opener, blender, stove/oven, lights, heating/ac, my watch for running, car, alarm clock, washer/dryer, anything else? I am not sure. I definitely could if I was raised in a non electric dependent society, but otherwise probably not. Gadgets make things easier. I'll definitely try it but even if it was possible, someone would start to say why not go without any type of non electrical gadget all day? So not sure how productive it is but sure its a good thought. I know at the very least I would have to use a stove, and my pc, and my phone, my car. So no not possible for me I guess.

I can take the dare. :) There are so many things I want to do now but can't because I'm so addicted to my computer. I just can't get enough! When the weather here in our place is windy or rainy, we expect brownouts. :( That's when I read my magazines and pocketbooks. That is also the time I arrange my files

It is really difficult. For me it is completely impossible to do it even think about it. We all are so dependent on electricity that we really can't think of living without them. even if we have to live without them then it will be very very boring. If there is anyone who think he or she can live a day or more without electricity then try and let us know about your experience and how you made it possible for you. We all would like to know.

If it would be only for one day and you know that it will be for a short time, so I guess that everybody could manage it. But, if you have to do so without the knowledge when the electricity comes back, than it might be difficult for many people. Personally, I think I could do so.

It is hard to live without technology. We are so used to having gadgets in our daily lives. Others would have difficulty functioning well without technology. I think the only time I lived for over a week without technology was in grade school after our city was hit by a terrible storm. There was no electric nor water supply. We used candles and kerosene everyday. We had to buy meat everyday from the wet market because we can't use the fridge to store food. But it was quite an experience. My family learned to value the simple yet more important things in life.

You can, everyone can, you have to go without when nothing's scalable, really. The only problem is when you get back to normality then you'll you got thousands of emails and text messages! Good remedy if you were looking for a way out, right? Maybe there should be rehab clinics located in the African jungle!

I believe I can. Been used to live without the use of electricity back in my childhood years. It would be difficult though, but I guess I can.

It's true, technology and gadgets are all around us nowadays, and with the importance of communication today, we seem to be unable to make it through the day without even getting hold of our cellphones, or even checking our facebook account. But in my opinion, it's not that we can't live without it. It's more of a lifestyle than a necessity.

Hmmm...I think I've already done this during a vacation in a remote island. No electricity in the island and no signal which prompted me not to even bother for my cellphone. During the night we only have a campfire burning to light us up and cook some food. It isn't that hard because we are not focused on reality world. We are just focused on having fun and releasing stress so there isn't really a need for electronics. We survived there having fun without electronics.
