Recently while searching through internet i came to know about IRC's.I read about them that they are for chatting purpose. And also read that many people nowadays chat through IRC.But I also read that The discussion in IRC is not private and every one can read them.Reading about IRC on internet i found that they are appealing. Thus i want to know, IS there really any fun in IRC?

Good ol' IRC! It's actually been around forever. . It's one of the oldest forms of internet communication, predating all the other messaging programs and even predating internet email. I used to be very active on UnderNet.
IRC literally stands for "Internet Relay Chat". It is a telnet session. In an IRC "channel", otherwise known as a "chat room" these days, yes, anyone can read what you say. But not in the IRC private messaging system. Those are only between you and the other user you are communicating with.
It is also very flexible as users can download and write scripts that add to the functionality of their IRC client program. It takes a bit more to learn but it isn't that difficult. I would recommend using "MIRC", it is probably the best and most well known IRC client out there.
