Would you rather?

Would you rather live near people or out in the country with only your family? I think I would rather have neighbors in case anything goes wrong or you need help. For example, my husband took my phone on accident this morning thinking it was his own and I have 3 kids here. So, I had to go to the neighbors and ask if I could borrow their phone so I could get my phone back...If we lived in the country and had nobody around I would have been in big trouble!
Would you rather live in the country? Or would you rather have neighbors just in case?

I don't think I could ever live in a place without neighbors.
Although I don't talk to them all the time, and some of them annoy me (with their early morning stares, etc.) I would rather have them around as a deterent to crime. I think it would be difficult for 'bad' people to come into a house if there are neighbors around.

That is the truth! It would be harder for bad people to come into a home with especially nosy neighbors around! LOL

I'd rather live out in the country. I can understand what you are saying, but I still prefer the country. I like the open space and not having neighbors all crowded in together. And with having a special needs child who can be rather loud, my family and I need all the space we can get! LOL
Oh sure, there are other downsides to living out in the country (there's no public transportation, I have to drive to get anywhere, not to mention there are snakes, rats, possums, skunks, etc). But it still beats living in the city any day!
As for the phones go, I've had that happen before. I never made a big deal out of it though. I'd just wait until hubby got home and then we'd switch phones. LOL But now that he's out of work we share one cell phone. So it doesn't really matter anyway. LOL
Happy mylotting!

Our neighbors can be considered as our extended families and they play important roles in our life in the absence of our own family. When we are in trouble our neighbors are the first people that come to our aid while waiting for the arrival of relatives. I always try to keep good relationship with my neighbors as they are the only people I have within eye distance that can be of help in case of emergencies.

I agree. Neighbors can be really great to have. They can be people that are there for you when you need them. I know if my neighbors needed help with something I would do everything I could do for them... =)

Yes, i would prefer to live in a neighbourhood and have good neighbours around me whom i can depend on in case i need help.At present i am living in an apartment where i have lived all my life and have good and helpful neighbours. Since i am wheelchair bound and confined to my house since the last 20 years i find it vey neccassary to have people whom i can depend upon, so my neighbours who know my problems do everything they can to help me out whenever i need them.If i were staying in the country ,isolated from everybody then my life would have been extremely difficult.

I agree it's nice to have neighbors to count on if you need them. =) I like it this way. I would think being far away from people would be very hard and lonely.

At the moment, and at the stage that I am currently at in my life, I would much prefer to be living in a nice house in the countryside with just my family. Some of the views that you can get are amazing, and I don't think that I would feel too cut off from everyone else. However, if I lived in the countryside, I would have to be able to get into the city by driving. If I could not drive or there wasn't a regular bus service into town, then I would not be interested in going at all.

You wouldn't be afraid that it would take too long for someone to come to you if you needed help? I'm just curious because that is my biggest worry about it...Especially with my 3 young children at home with me.

I am used to living in a small neighborhood in a countryside with friendly atmosphere. We have a kind of neighborhood wherein everyone is helping one another in case of trouble and happiness. I can compare it to my sons' residence in Metro Manila which is located in an area where there are so many houses. However, we don't even know our next door neighbors. This is supposed to be the third kind of neighborhood wherein only the houses are your neighbors not its residents. For these, i prefer my present residence which is a place with only few houses but with feeling of closeness and security.

Yes it is nice when your neighbors are friendly and helpful as well. I wouldn't like to have mean neighbors either. =)

I'm a people person though I appreciate my privacy too, but living completely isolate is not always the best choice because if you live in the country it could take too long for help such as ambulance and police to get to your home, also you might have to drive too far to get to a grocery store
I think it can be sometimes smarter to live near people, there's a few extra benefits to living near people such as neighbourhood that can help protect your home, and another benefit is having a faster commute to the things you need I would not live directly in the city but in a residential area close to the things I need near people just in case.

Exactly, with 3 young children I cannot afford an ambulance to take an hour to get to where my kids are. That's my first reason. Plus, with gas prices the way they are your right a grocery store being to far away would not be good. Yeah, residential area is where I like living too. =)

I prefer to have neighbours. Before my husband and I bought our house we looked at a lot of different houses. Some of them were in the countryside with no neighbours. In a way I would like to live in the countryside because that way I would be able to have lots of animals, but I don't regret buying a house in the a town. I think that there are many other advantages about a house in a town. When my husband is away from home I don't like to live in house where there are no neighbours, because I wouldn't be able to get help if something happened. I feel more safe when I know that there are neighbours around me.

I prefer neighbors too. I feel safer about it that way. I don't want to live in the middle of nowhere. That scares me. I kind of like the countryside too but maybe for a vacation not for living there all the time. I felt good knowing that the neighbors were there so I could call my husband. =)

I will always like to live in a place with neighbors.
I never dreamed of living in a far place or secluded area with no people around.
Thu I like nature, and I want a place with peaceful surroundings, but I want to have neighbors within reach.
I can imagine my mom who is living abroad and her employers house is kilometers away from the neighborhood.
I keep asking her if she's not afraid, since they're just about 6 people in the house.
Her employers (couple)her employers son, my mom and her assistant, and a stay in driver.
And imagine having a neighbor kilometer away in that big big house and big big lawn and property
But for me,I want a place with neighbors around.
have a great Sunday

I agree with you. Even if you don't talk to them on a daily basis it's nice to know that if you absolutely need something there are people to help around you. Yeah, I would not like being so far away from people either. That's just not for me. =)Have a great day too!

For me either one of the option is the same coz even if I am in my own country right now, I don't know much people in my neighborhood. I do know 1 or 2 families but that's it. I don't really open up to people much and actually I jut think my neighbors are as busy too.

I don't really know them either but when I needed to borrow the phone they didn't have a problem with it which was nice. I know if I really need something they will help me...

I live sort of in the country but I'm just a cuple of minutes from town. I have people living near me but I don't know any of them. I don't have any friends here. I miss living near my friends where I was just a few steps from their doors. If they needed anything they came to me and if I needed anything I went to them.

That wouldn't be so bad only living a few minutes from town. I am just nervous with my kiddos being so young living so far away from people. I don't want to live an hour from a hospital or something crazy like that. My kids are 5 and under so that thought worries me. I don't have any friends near me either. =(
