I've not been a good example of a pet owner...actually a bad one. I got two dogs-both, a mixed breed of dashund and spitts. When they were 1 yr olds, i couldn't control them. I gave one of them to my friend. The other one with me today is 9 yr old, and a really aggressive one. Its small but a terror! Tell me some facts about how to be a good pet owner...

When you do something with lot of love and caring there wil be no need to be taught of such things.Love is somethign that teaches everything. If you are a terror to it, it woul d be a terror to u.If u love it , it shows back the love for u.

Its pretty ok with me but its a terror for other people. Its been really ferocious. Many people say its due to its breed, spitts. It's been tearing people's clothes and its really annoying for everyone.

yes naturally it will be like that as you feed it and u look after it , it would be good with u, and as it is not having thatmuch relation with the other people it would create fear in them about the ferocious dog.It hapens with every living creature ,even with human beings.

But, for what you are saying he is good to you, right? And, he obey you? If yes, I don't think you are a bad pet owner. I also have a small dog (lhasa apso), who is adorable and very obedient to us, but she doesn't like strange people too.
I had a friend that had a dachshund too and I have to say that these type of dog is really difficult to strange people to handle. I used to go on her house almost 4x per week for years, but her dog never liked me or my sister.

Thanks for telling me that. Now i'll never be taking the guilt on myself. And ya, she's very obedient. She's a terror when i'm not home. That's the only prob.

well basically, you need to undertake all the primary responsibilaties , playing with your pet, feeding it,excercising it daily and pampering it are the best ways, once its a few months old ,train it to obey your commands by bribing it with treats, always make sure that you set an example and make sure who is the boss around here.once you do that ,the dogs ought to obey you very well.

Everything going fine with the checklist you gave except that i haven't found much time recently to play with it. I've been in and out of city lately and even given up its morning walks. Can lack of exercise be the reason? It obeys me. Its been a terror when i'm not at home.
