Gardening is my favorite hobby. And i water my plants every day.But instead of using a Pipe To water i use buckets.I have reserved a bucket for this purpose.I fill this bucket manually from a water barrel instead of using a tap. This helps in getting the bucket filled quickly and in saving some time. Now i carry this bucket to garden and water my plants. In this way i carry about bucket 4 to 5 times to my garden.I keep doing it every day to have some exercise. But while doing this regularly a idea flashed my mind.I Thought of making carrying bucket a continuous exercise.I have decided to fill 2 buckets with water and hold one in each hand and carry them to and fro.Like from A to b and then from B to A .I intend to do this every morning and i will be doing it atleast for 1 hour. but right now i am wondering if this is a right kind of exercise to do.Will it burn fat like other exercises do.Is there any chance of internal injury with this exercise.I haven't started this exercise yet.I am just waiting for your response.

I used to live in a remote area where we always carry buckets in getting water as well as taking a bath, it helps a lot of people to stay in shape! You burn a lot of calories and it's a good form of exercise too! We used to do it 2-3 times a day! there is no harm in trying so if you think you want to do it, you can always start and tell us later the results...The feeling is always great!

Any movement that your body makes will burn calories, meaning that you will slowly lose weight (providing, of course, that you are burning more calories than you are eating in your food). The more that the exercise works your muscles, the more fat you will burn, so your idea of lifting the water buckets seems like a very good idea. Anything will work providing that it requires your body to work harder than it does when it is resting. In addition to this, lifting weights will give your muscles a good workout, meaning that you will also be able to tone your body as well as losing the fat, which is just as important.

Lifestyle fitness is a good idea. I think you are taking proper steps by dividing the weight. It is the same as if you went to a gym and did weight training. Just be sure to bend at the knees when you lift. When you remember, tighten your abdominal muscles as well, and then I think you have a good idea.

Hi Humanicon, I do not know how much food you eat every day. If you exercise enough, and do not increase your intake of food, I think that will achieve the weight loss goal. I carry buckets a few times a day too, not for gardening. I have a large aquarium tank, and I use the water to flush the toilet. So I would use a small bucket, and pour into the big bucket in the toilet. Since the distance from the living room to the bathroom is not that great, the weight loss is minimized. Even then, I still sweat after the exercise. I think you can start the exercise by filling it half full of water or to carry it a shorter distance, just to minimize the risk of injuries. Once your arm muscles build up, I think the bucket carrying exercise gets easier. You can increase the water in the bucket or walk longer.
