Toy sales everywhere, Do you get sucked into the 6 month Christmas laybys?

I happen to love the huge mid year toy sales! There is a 6 months xmas layby and toys are so cheap! I always get sucked in and end up spending so much more than i intend before i get there, but people are pushing and shoving and mums and kids are going crazy trying to get everything on their wish list, its easy to get caught up in the moment. I have been going to the target toy sale for the last 3 years, this is where i choose all my sons christmas presents and sometimes pick up a couple fo things for his birthday too which are strait after the sale. I think its great opportunity to bag bargains for all the children in my family but as my son is my only son he is spoilt the most by me as he should be. He is not ungrateful when he likes something he appreciates it very much, so i think its ok. Do you do the mid year toy sale? Have you seen that most the shops are making it available online this year for the first time! I think its great and although you still miss out on stuff and probably everything will sell out in the end coz anyone can access it. It saves the trip going there to find out and makes finding a replacement easy when you can navigate away from the page and your in a different store to grab their bargains, while stocks last! Have you dont your layby yet? what did you get?

I don't do the sales. Too many people! My daughter and I tried to do a layaway for Christmas gifts for my grandson but the entire situation went bad. i don't have a credit card so very expensive ticket items don't go on the list. I had thought of trying to get started early this year and get something every month or so. I am saving some monthly and hope I can do that. We'll see how it goes.

Yeah i agree it's very hectic there... I must admit i am one of thos that makes it worse for people like you! I get so excited im like a big kid and i try to nab every bargain out! haha its ridiculous really but alot of fun if you get into it. I hate when christmas creeps up and your totally un prepared i always plan to buy through out the year but with out the big laybys then i probably wouldn't. You can put everything on layby in Australia.

About the only place here is K-mart and with last years experience with them we won't be using them again. So not sure what we'll do. SO you are one of those crazies--? I see.lol

I don't do layaway because there are only a few stores around here that offer it and they aren't stores that I typically shop at. With that said, I do typically start my Christmas and birthday shopping very early in the year. My daughter's birthday is in December and my son's birthday is in October. In addition, I have one niece that has a birthday in September and one whose birthday is in December. I typically buy most of my toys from Amazon because I earn a lot of free gift cards for there during the course of a year.

Personally I do not have any kids so I have never had to worry about buying things in advance like this just to be able to save a little bit of money, but back in the day when I used to sell things at our Local Swap Meet and such, especially when my Business name was The Sports and Craft collection, I used to always stock up on Sports related items when I found good sales, especially like Nascar toys, etc. So I can relate with Good sales and making the most out of them.

Yes I think that it's a great way to see what the Toy companies have to offer.

I do get sucked in but since last year I missed them as we moved while they were on. This year I went to the big w one and I could not believe there was practically nothing left. The store opened at midnight, and by the time I got there after droping the kids off at school, there was already a line from layby at the back of the store down to the front. It was Crazy. I found one thing that was on my list, so I brought it and walked out dissapointed. Well Target one is coming up so hopefully I get a chance.. I did try online first but that was more unsuccessful. I think people actually go a little overboard with these mid year sales... I do prefer to do the post Christmas sales. I save money up specificallyfor it.. I also have large plastic containers which I collect sale items, which I accumulate through the year and keep for gifts.. it is very handy for last minuet gifts. I also have a collection of cards and wrapping paper, ribbons etc too...

Oh i know it gets so crazy we went a day early in the hype and got there and there was nothing on sale! That's disappointing that you missed out though, the target one doesn't start until 21st July and the kmart one is on right now i have still been browsing the net catalogue i hope i score all my bargains atleast online you can buy from all stock in all stores which is a greater chance of having the items you want! I am sure you will find another sale to grab some bargains in the next 6 months! I really do go over board and i know it, but i love it too! I like to reserve my nieces and nephews presents along with heaps for my sons christmas and his birthday in January.

I do hit the mid year toy sales because I have three nephews and a niece who are young and love toys. My niece especially loves toys and will call me up and say Barbie's are on sale and you know I love Barbie. I have not tried the layaway palns because you have to pay so much each week and I am not working. It is my goal to start Christma shopping in September since I have so many people to shop for.

Yes it's such a great way to secure them all great presents at great prices and then you have 6 months to fix up the damage... so to speak. =) I didn't spend alot this year compared to other years but i got some great deals! Each to their own though i know different things work for different people and if you buy he toys in the midyear sale you can put them away till christmas.
