Philippines is a third world country who is striving hard to be recognized in the world in all aspects. Now Azkals was established as the Philippines soccer team who's aiming to be part of FIFA.
This afternoon, Azkals won against Sri Lanka with a score of 4-0. It was the second time they faught. Before, it was tie 1-1.
Hmmm... I wonder if Philippines can really make it to FIFA, have a match against Spain, Brazil, USA, Italy and all other teams of different countries who are known to be excellent in this sport.

Nice to see the Philippines taking a liking to the sport, I'm a Liverpool supporter here in England and i would love to see smaller less known teams get to the group stages of the World cup, i generally like see in them win also for instance New Zealand's draw to Italy was one of the highlights of the World cup.
Sri Lanka are not that bad of a team in Asia they have some good players and to beat them 4-0 is quite a feat, i can see Philippines performing well soon, i hope your country continues to develop the liking they have for the sport and hopefully produce some great players to play in the premier league and other big leagues in Europe.

There are Filipino footballers currently playing in the Danish, German, English and other European football leagues. Stephan Schrock is with the Bundesliga. Jerry Lucena is with the Danish football league. Neil Etheridge is the substitute keeper for Fulham FC in the English Premier League. These guys are a few of the current members of the Philippine national football team.

The Azkals (Philippine team) are already part of FIFA. Their games wouldn't be recognized if they weren't.
I think what you are referring to is being competitive with the football superpowers. I know that they've had a good start, but I think it is still a long way to go. I know that they've managed to pull this feat by dragging players that are already based in Europe, and have been trained already, but unless the interest is there, I don't think they could sustain it.
I know that the country is still crazy about basketball. A sport that the country has no business being in. If for some miraculous reason the country shifts their interest to football(soccer), then I think they have a chance.

of course, we can make it! even to the FINALS of FIFA... years from now :)
i think the team is doing their best to keep up with the demands today. kudos to their management team. for sure, they'll have a steady program for future generations of football players and have a starting line-up of full time players where they don't have other commitments elsewhere.

Oh yeah! How I wish we can. Maybe years from now - like after 10-20 yrs but definitely not now. It's not me being pessimist, I just don't think Azkals got enough to fight against Brazil, USA, Italy, Spain and all those gigantic countries which are popular in soccer. If Azkals will get a chance to match against one of those countries I mentioned above, even if they loose, that's a big hit for us. Go Azkals! :)
