Does the bible discriminate?

Okay, first off I'd like to say i'm not a Christian. I have nothing against the religion, or the people. I'm just curious about something I've heard. I was told that the bible states that being homosexual is a sin. Is this true? If it is, can someone tell me why? i thought people were born homosexual or heterosexual. Why would it be a sin to be yourself? Is there something wrong? This is just something that i'm curious about.

I think that it is quite discriminatory. in some parts against women as well as against gay people. but that's no excuse for Christians to be discriminatory, as it also basically says that it's not their place to pass judgement. I think that whatever religion someone follows, they should respect the right of others to make their own way spiritually in the world.

I also heard that the bible is against women. I've never read the Bible so I can't really say it's discriminatory. But I do agree that you should respect the basic rights of others

Only the Old Testament says this. The Old Testament also states that eating pork is a sin. How many of the people who claim that homosexuality is a sin do not eat pork? Not many. I don't care what people believe, but hypocrisy really bothers me.

It says that the act of homosexuality is a sin, not the attraction. Then again, it was Old Testament, addressed to the Hebrews, and also prohibited other things we don't have a problem with as modern Gentiles. The Bible itself isn't the issue - it's the interpretations so many people have. Obviously, the English versions are hardly the most accurate. You can't have a perfect translation, and few people have the time or the inclination to study ancient Hebrew, Greek, or Aramaic, so we muddle along as best we can, meditating and studying to get the best understanding possible. Even then, some things were simply cultural prohibitions. So I guess it just depends on who you ask.

I agree! It makes a lot of sense, especially when considering a lot of the other prohibitions. It could either be for continuation of the species or another way to set the Hebrews apart.

No it doesn't. The bible knew that some people were gay. It doesn't condemn gay people, only gay behavior. It also condemns jerking off or withdraw as birth control.

I am not against gay or lesbian but I think the bible does not discriminate but teaches us to be good and respectful for the will of God. God created only man and woman and not gay or lesbian. We should follow the will of God, because it is him who created us and definitely know what's wrong and right for us.

In my own opinion, It doesn't really say it that way. It's how the people believe it to be. If u believe it's a sin then it is. It is how u translate it/ your understanding about what God says on the bible. He however said that He loves His people unconditionally even if they sin. Homosexuals are still human. and unless they do things that are sinful then that's the time we can call it a sin. Like selling your body for pleasure and money are sinful acts. I don't believe Homosexuality is a sin. As long as you love God above all things nothing is wrong with it.

A lot of Christians be certain of homosexuals pick out to sin based on what they have found in scripture. I want you to be familiar with that I explored the same scripture and I solely believe that homosexuals are not in sin and that homosexuality is not wrong. In spite of mutual views, I believe that homosexuals can be Christians and love and serve the similar God.

It is stated in the Bible that God created only a man and woman. There was a story of Sodom and Gomorrah story. You can read this site if you're really interested: http://www.religioustolerance.org/hom_bibg.htm. When you follow the Bible, you'll know what is right from wrong. The bible does not discriminate it only wants people to live upright. It's a sacred book for a happy living. ^_^

yes. the bible does say that homosexuality is a sin because god created man to be with woman not woman with woman or man with man. i'm not of ne religion but when i was growing up i did go to church and i have read the bible many times, but they way the bible says that god looks at it as a sin because it's against what he said was right...that's they way i took it because that's the reason he burned sodom and gamora those two towns were filled with nothing but homosexuals and he didnt think it was right that people were going against his word so he tried to get rid of them.
